Something I noticed. No MARVEL Logo in the intro in both Deadpool trailers. Yet it was hugely present throughout the entire Marketing Campaign for this one. Hmmmmmmmmmm

The Marvel logo is there. It is at the 50 seconds mark.

And they took off the Fox logo in a couple spots.

That logo wasn't doing them any favors.

Just noticed it now. That was more blink & you miss. While with the trailers for this movie. They MADE SURE THAT YOU SAW THE MARVEL LOGO IN THE BEGINNING. It is an interesting comparison none the less

Or the key may be simply introducing Reed and Susan alone for now. Marvel Studios needs more powerful females. Just about all of their premiere powerhouses (Storm, Jean Grey/Phoenix, Invisible Woman) are on lockdown at FOX. I can see Reed and Susan having a cameo in an Avengers film without Ben and Johnny.

it's certainly going to be an interesting thing... because i think Johnny and Ben sell tickets for kids more... but Sue and Reed help flesh out the narratives better...

maybe they'd cameo the entire team in a spider-man film ala Amazing Spider-Man #1 with him trying to join the F4 it'd feel likely most natural.. or they could actually to a Hulk/F4 crossover film that'd probably work.

though, the AMZ#1 route is rumored to be implicated in spideys first new solo with him trying out for the avengers instead... but who knows we will see

Reading the reviews, Ive decided not to watch this in fear of getting depressed inside the theatre. I was skeptical at first because their decisions seemed really off (opposite of Deadpool), then the first trailer hit and I thought it had a Jonathan Hickman FF vibe which I liked, then the next few trailers were underwhelming and my hopes crashed again. Fox doesnt get FF, so please just give it to Marvel Studios and just focus on the X-Men universe.

I've brought up the idea of them showing up in Black Panther, like in the comic.

What's most significant is the removal of the 20th Century Fox logo.

Only a Marvel one.

It'd like to see a DECENT Fantastic Four movie before I die.

Seriously, how do you do worse than the one from 10 years ago?

FOX does a good job for the most part with their X-Men, Deadpool looks awesome, but their Fantastic Four's are awful.

From the CS review:

Coming Soon said:
The whole thing stinks of the contractual obligation Fox had to make another movie if they wanted to retain the rights to the characters.

Obvi. What a wasted opportunity. *sigh*

I can't believe Fox allowed something like this to happen. Embarrassing.

Was about to post this. Interesting that he doesn't think the Fantastic 4 work on the big screen, I still think they can work.

Absolutely. Not to beat a dead horse but as everyone says, The Incredibles is a great example of a super family working together in a fun scifi-enhanced world with a sense of fun, whimsy & wonder. The personalities of these characters and the tone in general are so ripe to be a major, lovable franchise, but it feels like the studios have yet to hire someone with a deep affinity for the source material and a specific take on it while maintaining its spirit.

% dropped to 17 now... will it stay in the teens?

There's no way this thing makes it to fresh status

That is just sad honestly. This is all Fox's fault. Of course they can work on the big screen. If freaking Ant-Man can work, the Fantastic Four can work. There is no excuse.

Isn't the first time...

I think how a general audience looks at Fox (assuming, of course, they know it's Fox ahead of time, or can glean it from the logos) depends on how X: Apocalypse, does. If that does well -- combined with DOFP -- I don't think most people will care that they ruined FF. After all, we're assuming that it's that same "general audience" that will come to this FF outing, even after the last Tim Story film. People really don't care, just give them something that they'll "enjoy".

So, even if Trank et Co. can't manage to give regular audiences a film they'll "enjoy" this time, I doubt we'll see Marvel Studios being given a chance any time soon.

The FOX hate doesn't come from a vacuum.

Yes. And yet this was the most unkindest cut of all.

Fox really put the nail in the coffin for the Fantastic Four this time. I'm not even sure Marvel can resurrect them after this latest abomination. At least not for a loooong time. And to think - Fox was mere months away from losing the rights completely and this film never would have had to have been made.

I hope that the failure of this film convinces Fox to finally let go of the FF. They are now 0-3 and simply do not know how to adapt them properly. Outside of pride (or perhaps arrogance), there is no other reason to hold onto this property any longer.

Fox has accomplished what Doom never could: they've destroyed the Fantastic four.

I'm certain now that the reports that they were looking to dump Trank were true. Fox saw that this wasn't going well. But no one else wanted the project. Fox was going to run out of time. So they marched forward with an unqualified director. This really was a rights grab.
