Slater's script is just as bad Kinberg/Trank's. Not ONE of them got Doom right.

Like, why is he so hard to do correctly?

Marvel could basically just throw Iron Man, Loki, and Strange in a blender and have a far better Doom than any previous film attempt.

I had a difficult time reading all that and keeping up. I guess that was the first draft where the writer threw the kitchen sink and everything else into one script and didn't worry about budget concerns until the next few drafts.

I know Devin wants to come to his friends defense but there is no way Marvel Studios would make a Fantastic Four movie where three out of the four are doing the super soldier bidding of the government (and no, Ben Grimm's Air Force days do not count).

Who knows? There's no way it would've been as bad as Fox's take. I would agree with that, but just saying, Marvel didn't know how to pull off the Mandarin in 2013.

Thats different. The comicbook mandarin is considered a racist characture in todays society. IIRC, marvel was also banking on the chinese market for iron man 3. That was a fine line to straddle. Changes had to be made. I see no reasons why marvel should or would want to make drastic changes to their first family.

Who knows? There's no way it would've been as bad as Fox's take. I would agree with that, but just saying, Marvel didn't know how to pull off the Mandarin in 2013.

A billion dollars on top of critic and audience approval says otherwise. The only places where the Mandarin Twist is regarded as a mistake are places like this.

Most of the more drastic changes at Marvel Studios are at least understandable from a reasonable perspective. The Mandarin is a tricky character to pull off if you try to use the original "Yellow Terror" version. Drax just being an alien is a lot more straightforward (and makes Peter Quill more unique as the only Terran in the group), and J'Son is an objectively stupid name (Gunn's said he's not a character in the MCU).

If Marvel gets the rights to FF back and brings them into the MCU they won't be making any drastic changes to them. Especially not after how Fox has handled the characters and tanked their movies.

I mean I dont get why they are overcomplicating things when making a FF film. Or any superhero movie. Remember before SR how weird each Superman script was. Stop over reaching.

I'll go on record and say right now that I'd prefer Slater's original script to the cinematic nightmare we got in theaters.

Slater's plot is (a little) better, yeah. The dialogue was horrendous, though. He tweeted (then deleted) one bit that went something like: "Is that your girlfriend?" "No. She's my sister." "Oh. You know you're black, right?"

Slater's story isn't bad. It could have reworked into having more focused. Stuffing Galcatus, Doom and Mole Man reminds me too much about Spider Man 3, Galactus should be not be mingled with Doom, that should be with Surfer and I rather not have Reed abandoned his friends and Ben be a military weapon.

What I will say is this script, while not the best, sounds so much better and exciting than what we got in theatres, though I do agree that it sounds very expensive.

There have been some reports on that stuff, too. Unused material has been quite the talking point of late. We found out a great deal more about the stuff with Ben being used as a weapon, for example.

So on Collider Heroes today, one of the co-host revealed that there is a finished X-Men vs. Fantastic Four script at Fox. He knows who wrote it and from he heard its quite good.

Never going to be made though. lol

Fantastic Four was supposed to be better than the second coming according to the online film crowd. I'm not sure I trust them too much on the quality of unreleased (and especially not even made) films at this point.

They made Hank Pym into an old man who was never with the Avengers and had nothing to do with the creation of Ultron.

The comics themselves introduced the idea that there was a totally separate Avengers team that predates the version with Iron Man and Thor (Nick Fury was in it). Just sayin'...

Was that in Mighty Avengers? That's actually separate from what I was referring to. The (retcon) team with Fury included the "old" characters that fans would still recognize, like Sabretooth, Kraven, and Dominic Fortune (yeah, Kraven the Hunter and Sabretooth are sorta kinda "Avengers").

But yeah, Marvel's really been playing with the idea of previous generation "Avengers", and I could totally see them borrowing that in the films.
