I almost got teary eyed when they showed Brian driving a Supra at the end.

Brian killed Tran at the end of the first film, and the Yakuza (or more specifically Takashi, the former DK) have no reason to beef with Torretto or his crew.

Sean joins the crew because he also wants payback on Shaw for what happened with Han, and then the "bad side" gets the Yakuza on their side because they want to destroy Sean. Or something. :cwink:

I hope Kurt Russell has an even bigger part in F8. He was a great addition. You could tell he was enjoying himself here.

Yeah, the cement stomp-grenade helicopter drop were the only 'bridge catch' jump the shark moment.

I'd like to pretend the cement stop was all in Doms mind and he just happened to do that at the exact time the bridge collapsed. The lucky grenade toss seemed more believable than some of the miracles that occurred.

The moment for me was Fast or Furious 6 when Dom caught Letty mid air and landed on a car across the bridge. I realized they didn't care anymore.

Actually I remember seeing Fast Five in the theatre and in the first couple minutes they flip the bus Dom is in over five times as part of the escape plan. I shouted "oh my god , they killed him". Im usually quiet during movies , but that just took me by surprise.

The part was originally for Denzel Washington . He was promised a larger role in the sequel, but of course he turned it down. So I can see Russel getting more screen time possibly.

I just want Kathryn Bigelow to direct one of these movies. Fitting, since the first Fast and Furious is just Point Break with cars!

Haha yeah that really was the most ridiculous thing ever. And it's made even more hilarious with that little dialogue exchange between the two of them right after, when she says something like, "How did you know that car would be there to break our fall?" and he's like "Sometimes you just gotta take a leap of faith."

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAANNNNNNNN

I started in The fast and furious. When the cars started going at warp speed my "logic" meter shut off.

I just how they tried to explain how they survived all these stunts.

-Reinforced chassis in a sports car

-Bulletproof hyper car

- Reinforced roll cage

And then they just flex their arms after they get out of a serious accident and walk away.

you ever see nitro circus? people actually do this **** and live from it....

Yeah there is an actual way to survive high impact collisions. It requires a great understanding of engineering and physics to make it possible tho. Which is why Dom has Ludacris's character handle the cars.

And roll cages can take an insane pounding, but they have to be built right and for the frame they are going on otherwise youve encased yourself in a steel cage of death. And then there are the 5 point harnasses. Mount them too high or low and you can break your spine in a collision, but mount them right and you wont break a thing.

And most modern car bodies and frames have fantastic crumple zone designs so the force is spread out and the body and frame collapse in a specific way so yhethe rider doesnt get hit with a ton of twisted crushed metal.

Its all down to the engineering.

That being said, the driver also needs to be wearing a helmet, a thing to reinforce the neck so they dont break it, a thing to keep their head from whipping side to side, and a flame resistant body suit among other things. Ive seen NHRA top fuel dragsters wreck at 320 mph and the driver walk away without a scratch, but if the driver hadnt been wearing all the right gear no roll cage or harnass would have save him. Dom and the people in these films wouldnt survive their crashes without all that gear. Everyone of them would have snapped necks.

oh man I just looked up the tank chase scene from one of the previous films where Vin saves Michelle.
I had no idea the series had gone that ridiculous!

Kurt Russell was good but Denzel would've been so much better and compelling...Does anyone know why Denzel turned it down? Was it because of money?

Denzel was supposed to be in Furious 7? That's news to me. Wow.

Point break is exactly why Keanu has to be the next addition.
An example of where Brian came from and Keanu being beaten down and alone and possibly corrupt, an example of what Dom saved Brain from.

Also Keanu has a history with drag racing. I'm referring to the Paula Abdul music video lol. I'd love to see Keanu join this series. Another name is Will Smith. He's friends with Vin , Tyrese , and the late Paul Walker as evident by party pics they put up on Twitter. Either Will or Keanu would be good to see

Watched it again tonight. Still cried at the end and my friend had tears in his eyes (first time seeing it). I'm of two minds about a potential sequel. On one hand I agree that this is a perfect ending for the series, end on a beautiful and touching note as well as top earning BO. Then the other part of me is curious what they will do now. I feel like I need to revisit this family, specially now that Paul is sadly gone, leaving all of them behind make this harder. Maybe I'm just emotionally overthinking it.

Also remember reading Brian's character arc was spanning part 7-8. I did have a feeling that Kurt was playing his father. He says to him at one point to pull over "son". Again could be nothing or a line from the original script storyline. I'm amazed they haven't brought back Carter Verone and that Monica Fuentes didn't show up after the end of Fast Five. One thing is for sure, they need to make the family be whole again with the void due to Brian's departure. They also need to take it down a big in terms of scale. I'd say this was the peak of crazy action and suspension of disbelief.

Yeah, I agree. Kurt Russell was on Jimmy Kimmel last week, and he had nothing but great things to say about the movie and being apart of it. He was all smiles and laughs on the set if you watch the behind the scenes.

And people say that Michael Bay is over the top.

Daaaamn, this movie had me going wtf did I just watch.... In a bad way.

They're almost way too over the top at times, and the last few movies have all had cringeworthy scenes where I have just rolled my eyes, but the movies are still done in mostly a fun and light hearted way. They're silly, but they're just meant to be entertaining. That's more than you can say about any Michael Bay movies. Watching those is just a miserable experience all together.

I thought I would get choked up at the last tribute for him like others mentioned but I surprisingly didn't. I just admired the effort they put into it, I really enjoyed it.

I can't imagine how tough it was for Vin to film that last scene though, or to watch it in it's finished form.

Same here. My friends all yeah he's driving his WHITE supra to heaven.

i thought this was the third best in the series behind FF1 and F5, but that ending was pure class.

no tears were shed...but my eyes certainly started to pool up a bit. the absolutely perfect ending to an otherwise mediocre film really elevated the film in my book because that's all i'll end up taking away from it all.

7/10

The difference with Michael Bay is that this movies have carefully coreographed stunts. The spectacle is there, but is not all CGI and mayhem.
