Days of Future Past First Class Official Casting Thread

Can't wait to find out who's gonna play who in this. X-Men: First Class has made me excited for the X-Men franchise again.

Same for me to :xmen: I Don't despise X3 or Wolverine - But it's obvious that they could've been so much better. Now with Vaughn on First Class, I'm convinced that the franchise will make a full recovery. Wolverine can be made to make allot more sense with a sequel... Same as X3. And if this film rocks as much as it sounds like it will - everything will be made right.

Me too. it's been a long time coming, but I think the X-Franchise is returning to it's roots (as lame as that sounds :oldrazz:)

^agreed. It seems as though they just might get it right this time, or better I should say, as X-Men is a gem to me still, and after all is quite possibly responsible for the re-emergence of the superhero film...

I don't think they'll get it right so much as they'll make it not suck as much lol. If they wanted it right they'd give it back to Marvel and let them reboot. Ah a boy can dream

I wouldn't say 'possibly'. It IS responsible for the re-emergence of superhero films. X-Men 1 & 2 are still two of the best, imo.

Before anyone says it was Blade, no-one knew (besides us) that it was based on a comic. It also came out when vampires were very popular (Buffy). So that helped it. It was just great timing for Blade.

Arad and Feige have said Blade pretty much opened the gates.

Blade set the chain off, but X-Men was the fulcrum that pushed mainstream comic heroes off into Hollywood. Blade wasn't exactly a well known character at the time...Wesley Snipes is what pretty much sold the movie.

So we already have Prof. X for sure, and than Mystique, Magneto. Moira or Emma, and Beast cast.

Now all that's left are the heavy hitters - Cyclops, Jean, and Storm. Can't wait to see who they are going to get to play those roles.

We need the villain too. We still don't really know who he/she/it is.

It's hard to say...A character like that seems somewhat tricky to translate onto the big screen. I still remember how dark those episodes were where he was featured in the cartoon.

I find it hard to believe that what the synopsis called 'the greatest threat the world has ever known' (or something along those lines) is Proteus. He could be something for a future film though.

Random thought: If we're going to see the construction of Cerebro, the X-Jet etc, we might be seeing a young Reed Richards involved somewhere. As long as there aren't too many characters.

Hmmm...I wonder if they would have the ****s to crossover those two franchises like that...It could be something done off-screen.

They could possibly bring in a young Forge too.

I wish they would do a crossover like that, but with the new Fantastic Four reboot who would play Richards?

I'd rather see Forge help out than Reed. FF4 and X-Men seems like an unnecessary crossover.

With Fox rebooting Fantastic Four I doubt they will cross the franchises. It'll just create problems, especially if Reed Richards pops up in the 60's/70's when the reboot is set in modern times.

Just stick with X-Men.

Well, one rumour is that they are planning to cross over the two franchises (X-Men and FF).

But, regardless, I guess we don't really need to see Cerebro and the X-Jet in this first film about the very early days, as those things were probably later additions to the mansion. That could happen in a sequel. So Reed Richards wouldn't need to be present this time around. Also worth bearing in mind that he's much younger than Xavier and Magneto.

As for Forge, I mentioned him in a previous thread on the various technologies.

It seems like there's a lot of ground we are expecting them to cover in this first film. I don't think a 2-hour movie will be able to include all the characters/scenarios/events that people are wanting/expecting/anticipating.
This is where fans set themselves up for disappointment, as we each have our own checklist of what we want to see, who should be in it, etc.

Yeah, I tend to keep my expectations minimal in general. There's just no pleasing everyone of course.

I think some type of transportation vehicle could be referenced or introduced..not necessarily a jet..

and I think a Cerebro-type device should definitely be brought up in the movie, but it doesn't necessarily have to be explored in detail.

Well, if this film centers around their friendship and how they became enemies, cerebro was built when they were still friends. I imagine it will be shown at some point.

What if...the greatest threat the world has ever known...

was XAVIER??

The greatest threat the X-Men will face in First Class is themselves.

A FILM DIRECTED BY JOSS WHEDON.

Well, remember in X2, Xavier showed that he did have the potential to kill every single person in the world...

It could be anybody. It's just a synopsis.
