Horrible decision to cut Blackfish if it is true. He's the only good Tully. Cat is annoying (though much more likable than the book), Lysa is crazy, [blackout]Hoster is just dying, and Edmure just strikes me as not very bright.[/blackout]

Edmure's a **** in the books, but I don't think he will be on the show.

Blackfish being out is not that monumental a thing.

I just don't get how they waste screen time on Roz yet cry budget and time constraints with Blackfish.

Robert Pugh has been cast as Craster in Game of Thrones, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Craster is a shaky ally to the Night's Watch and the master of Craster's Keep, which lies beyond the Wall. He is also known for his oppressive relationships with his 19 wives and many daughters, including Gilly, to be played by Hannah Murray on the show.

Pugh's credits include The Ghost Writer and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

The actor is the latest to join the large and impressive guest cast for Season 2 of the HBO fantasy drama. The additions of Murray and Roy Dotrice broke earlier this week. Also in the cast: Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth, Stephen Dillane as Stannis, Carice van Houten as Melisandre, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne, and The Tudors's Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell.

Here's Gilly, Hannah Murray

This gets me pretty psyched. I've only just started A Clash Of Kings so I'm not sure who Gilly is, but I'm all for another one of my favorite actors from Skins appearing on this show.

reading a computer screen can cause just as much eye strain as reading

True, but it largely depends on the amount of reading. I don't read books on my computer screen either for the same reason. There's a big difference between reading posts(which are only a couple of lines, usually) and reading pages of a book.

Fortunately I have a program where a sexy french accented woman's voice reads all my text for me if I so choose.:cwink::awesome::woot:

The voice on my Kindle sucks. Wish I could get a sexy french guy to read mine, lol....

I guess you gotta get a separate specialty program to do that. The one I use is called Ivona.

Don't know if you can adjust the voice on a Kindle. It's not like having a tablet which has more options. :)

Awesome Johnny Cash Game of Thrones mashup. MAJOR SPOILERS! Only watch if you've finished the first season or have read the book.

Good pick, though I thought he was older in the books (though I always pictured him looking like Denethor from LOTR for some reason).

I'm reading the book (about a quarter through) after watching season 1, and I feel like some small aspects of the storytelling were not properly reflected in the tv series.

Some Examples:

Jon Snow and Tyrion's relationship
Jon Snow and Cat's relationship
Ned's remorse for killing Lady once he discovered that Summer saved Bran's life
Ned and Littlefinger's relationship
Daenerys and Drogo's first time being intimate (the book illustrates the encounter as being far more passionate and seductive)

I still thoroughly enjoyed Season 1 on HBO, but these small tidbits def make the story feel more complete.

My minor complaint about the book is that sometimes the figurative detailing drags and is a bit cumbersome.

I disagree on the first two. In the book, it was Donal Noye who told Jon that the other boys hated him for being so good with a sword, yet they made it Tyrion in the show (in addition to all his other scenes with Jon), so I think it was done justice.

Cat and Jon I thought was done well, just more subtle than the book. Within minutes, you see Cat giving Jon a mean stare. When Jon says good-bye to Bran, they obviously took out the "It should be you" line she says to Jon, but you can see it in her look as well.

Add to it that Ned's remorse for killing Lady was pretty obvious in Bean's acting for the finale of that episode. And what was missing from Ned and Littlefinger's relationship? They have the necessary dialogue points, the lovely stroll pointing out spies, and Littlefinger's wonderful charming and disarming smile while he's oh-so-helpful until he's not.

You're right on the last, though - Dany and Drogo have a different first sexual encounter in the book and show. Considering the show is faster-paced with, thus, less time to spend developing Dany's growth into a woman, this better demonstrates her as heroine by having it progress that she's taming the beast.

Hop over to the books thread when you've gotten into the second and third books.

Another casting for the road: Game of Thrones has found its notorious sell sail pirate Salladhor Saan. Producers have enlisted Lucian Msamati in the role for the highly anticipated second season. He’s a (one more time, all together now) British stage and screen actor. Msamati is known to some HBO viewers from his role on No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.

Salladhor Saan is a mercenary pirate pledged to the late King Robert’s brother Stannis.
