A Question The White Walker at the end. Does anyone else think he is BenJen or resembles a possible long lost Stark ancestor or something. The facial Muscle form and beard says to me some of the Walkers likely were recruted into there ranks

I am pretty sure BenJen did become a white walker... just not sure he is that particular one. ;)

Humans can not become White Walkers. White Walkers are a separate race that reanimate human corpses into wights.

To be clear,

The things that cut those wildlings up and killed the night's watchmen at the beginning of season 1 and the thing on the horse at the end of season 2 (thing in my avatar) are White Walkers. Separate race from humans. Humans can not become these.

The reanimated human corpses and the army the white walkers command are wights which is a fancy name for zombie. These are not White Walkers.

Ah, I see. I need to read the books again. :)

He is still missing at the end of A Dance with Dragons.
I am not so sure.
It sure seemed to me that Martin hinted strongly enough that BenJen was probably the Wight that was leading Bran Stark and teaching him how to See through the trees and things. :) That was my take on things.

There is quite a few people who think that. But
Coldhands kills brothers of the Night's Watch while they are beyond the wall, and when they get to the cave one of the children says "they killed him long ago." If Coldhands has been dead for a long time it can't be Benjen, because Benjen hasn't been missing for a long time.
We should probably leave book spoilers out of this thread. I've been reprimanded before, and wouldn't want to incure the same again. Will you spoiler tag what you quoted from me?:)

Whos is to say though that Northmen are not desended from Walkers. I mean if Dragons and so on kinda made the Targaryans why couldn't the Starks be descended from Ice or some kind of Wild being. But most likely Starks are descendents of Wolves.

I have a question about the Wild Ling Osha does it seem like her movements are cat like.

I agree. All set. :)

I haven't read any book but one and 2 simply because Like Harry Potter i read a book after that movie was done. Simply hate to know stuff before I see it tv or movie wise.

Targayens are the last remaining Valyrian nobles, the Starks are descended from the First Men. Both people's have inherently magical abilities.

Hope not. Otherwise, that would mean some lonely First Man (or woman) porked a wolf.

And I don't even want to think about the logistics behind dragon/Targaryen 'relations'. :D

Does that also mean some Lion likely crapped out a Lannister

Nah... just that you were wondering if the Starks might be descended from wolves.

Otherwise, the Greyjoys paid the iron price with tentacle porn!! You can now thank me for the mental image of Theon getting groped by an overly friendly Kraken. :woot:

To be honest i don't care what happens to the Greyjoys and Theon and his twisted sister.

Same here. I still haven't finished book 1 yet but it's an interesting experience sort of like looking at an alternate take. How is reading book 2 after watching the season you finding it enjoyable?

Well Book wise my favorite character returns in the end from season 1 that doesn't appear in Tv show season 2.

I hope Victarion becomes the king. Dude is a beast. Definitely among my favorite characters. Hopefully the next book drops this upcoming year. Need that in my life.

I dunno. Martin seems to be writing very slowly. :p

3 years per novel. He's been working on book 6 since 2011, so I'd expect it sometime in 2014.

A thousand times yes. Victarion is basically George RR Martin's very own version of Conan the Barbarian.

Big Vic don't **** around.

One can only hope that with the show being so popular, he might feel the incentive to go a bit more quickly. :p

I heard that HBO is gonna renew it for 6 seasons so my guess is if he would die they likely know enough to end Game Of Thrones TV wise and likely his books would be finished from TV adaptation novels
