If you have dragons, why aren't they always around burning mother ****ers up who are trying to kill you?

The dragons are still young; it wouldn't be difficult for skilled marksmen to take them down.

I can't wait to see more from Selmy. :word:

Arrows can't penetrate dragon hide. And steel melts when it does penetrate so at this point they are on the brink of being damn near impossible to kill. Youd need to crush one or take its head off with Valerian steel.

But khalisee is just being a protective mother. By seasons end those dragons will get their moment to shine.

Baelish wasn't captured or killed, because he was a messenger and hospitality dictates he not be harmed. Renly wasn't going to kill him and be called scum.

Why are you confused he wasn't killed?

Cat didn't need to kill him, but the idea that he could travel in hostile territory and not lose his head rings false as hell. It is pretty common knowledge that he he had a role in Ned's death and the protection of Joffrey's false claim. Look at what has happened to everyone on the road in this show.

It isn't that I am confused, I am annoyed that the scene exist.

Are we watching the same show? :woot:

It doesnt ring false because that is custom in Westeros. A messenger or guest in general can not be harmed once they have eaten salt and bread of his host. And it wasn't Cat's decision. It was Renly's camp. Cat was merely a guest the same as Baelish. She had no authority to have him captured or killed.

And was there any indication that he was invited in? That he was an accepted guest? That the soldiers themselves care about that? Just look at Arya and Jaime on the road. No one cares about that.

When Renly greeted him that was invitation. And no soldier would kill a messenger in their king's camp and risk shaming him before westeros. That would be a death sentence for any man and no common man really gives a damn about Ned Stark. They are their fighting for their lord who answered a call from their king. They do as he says and follow his lead. They aren't going to die to avenge some noble who lost his head thousands of miles south. They want to get home to their familys.

What happened to Brienne and Jaime on the road was a completely different situation. And Arya was acosted and captured by a group of corrupt knights led by the Mountain on orders from their king. Completely different from a random soldier avenging ned stark by killing baelish in renly's camp.

It's only seen as common knowledge to us as the viewers. Remember, the majority of people in Westeros can't read or have even seen the king. They probably don't even know who Baelish is other than some Small Council member, if that. So they have nothing to go by other than Ned Stark and Stannis Baratheon denying Joffrey's claim. To an outsider, this easily can be seen as just another group of ambitious men trying to justify their grab for power.

Renly knew Littlefinger was a schemer and played a role in Ned's death. He also knows Baelish only cares about himself and is serving the Lannisters as a means to an end. He'd only be doing them a favor by killing him since they barely trust.

Messengers are actually treated with respect. Look at last season with Alton Lannister serving as the messenger between the Starks and the Lannisters. He was sent by Robb to King's Landing and Tyrion and Cersei sent him back.

And was there any indication that he was invited in? That he was an accepted guest? That the soldiers themselves care about that? Just look at Arya and Jaime on the road. No one cares about that.
Arya is traveling as an unknown peasant whose life has no worth. If people knew who she was, they'd ransom her to the Lannisters or Starks. Jaime was discovered by Northmen who have a fervent hatred of him. Baelish was traveling with an entourage (ie guards), he didn't just show up on his own. The soldiers really don't care, they just take orders. Doing something against them would be a death sentence.

I don't know about this world, but in our own world, you don't kill a guy who shows up with a white flag to parley. Doing so is very poor form. The Greeks, the Romans, the Mongols, the Crusaders, etc all had that rule.

In one case, a Mongol emissary sent to discuss terms with the enemy was killed, and in retaliation the Mongols burned the entire enemy's country to the ground, and killed everyone in it.

And to top it off Khan poured molten silver into the ears and eyes of the king who order the death of the emissary. It was this event that inspired Viserys death. Westeros has similar rules. To kill a messenger or guest will shame the family name beyond repair regardless of the messenger or guest's past crimes.

Can someone remind me, was Qyburn ever with Rob's camp in the book? Dude is weird as hell in the books and deals in some dark ****. I look forward to this in the show.

That "No one even knows we're alive"... is that Bran?! If so, holy **** has that kid hit puberty.

After reading about the effects of castration. Having an army of castrated soldiers...ehh not so good really. Danny should have really bargained the guy down for half off, due to that.

You can remove the penis and leave the testicles without any ill hormonal effects.

Either way, these guys are the elite in Esos.

I have a feeling Joffrey's new fiance will help him redeem himself, he'll get married, and when people are finally ok with him, he'll get killed off.

Castration almost always means removing the testicles and not the penis. In fact simply removing the penis is not even called castration. If it is indeed a eunuch army that doesn't really seem that impressive tbh.

-edit- I just realized my 3000th post involved me discussing penis removal and castration not what i expected.

I know what our castration means I'm simply saying this is Esos and castration could mean the removal of only the penis. These Unsullied have their genitalia removed so that they may remain fully focused without the vices of men. And it is fantasy and in GRRM's world these men are the cream of the crop. Think Spartans but with 1,000 times the dedication. Something they didn't mention is that Unsullied don't even have personal names. They are literally just weapons and have no personal desires nor personality at all really.

The Unsullied initiation is actually close to Spartan practice. The young Spartan initiates final test was to go to the market and kill a slave.

So they've already shown Selmy without the Arstan Whitebeard persona. Can't wait to see the episode. So is Strong Belwas in there too, or will he be?

I liked what I saw and it was a good setup episode, though I'm somewhat conflicted about the Davos/Melisandre/Stannis scene. Obviously they couldn't tell it exactly the same way due to length but it still seems like Stannis was awfully placid during that exchange.

I really liked the premiere. A slow paced starter that starts to set up things, and does so with great acting and taking another step in production quality.

Strong Belwas wasn't there and I'm quite certain that he won't be in the show at all. He seems to be one of those characters that would be easy to cut for a TV show.
