Rogue One Gareth Edwards directing Rogue One - Release Date Dec 16 2016

I was bummed about the lack of Rogue One marketing but as with Civil War, I think Disney is waiting until they have something really impressive to show.

Character name revealed "Lyra Erso", possibly Felicity Jones' character.

Possible story revealed?

The lack of news about this film..is disturbing.....

^ Wait until TFA is on bluray, I think. Around May 4th we'll get something, either a few images and an article, or if we're super lucky, a teaser trailer. But they could save that for Celebration a month or two later. They also have to be very careful about their marketing for this, since it's a shift in the timeline we haven't experienced with SW before, and EpVIII comes out five months later. They're going to have to be promoting two at once every now and then... Will be interesting and I'm sure awesome to see.

Also, shouldn't this thread be moved to the RO section now?

Star Wars:
Rogue One 6" Black Series were shown. Main heroine, main antagonist (looks like Admiral Thrawn, but without blue skin. Black droid (Assuming RO).
ANH Leia and TFA C-3PO.

3,75" Rogue One vehicles. Starfighter, a new kind of Tie fighter (flat wings shaped kinda like those of an Interceptor. AT-AT with mobile app enhanced control and firing Nerf darts (Smalelr than Vintage Collection). Many new 3,75" figures for TFA, OT,PT and RO.
Banner for Rogue One with a big shot of Darth Vader.

Admiral Thrawn reference is interesting, I imagine Ben Mendelson playing an Imperial Grand Admiral wearing a white uniform.
The Black droid might be Alan Tudyk's character rumored to be a mo-cap droid character.

And the banner as other rumors and plot pretty much confirms Darth Vader.

Again as expected confirm Vader.

And what I imagine is Ben Mendelson playing an Imperial Grand Admiral wearing a white uniform and cape.

More confirmation Alan Tudyk's character might not be an alien but a droid.

Some charming fan attempt at concept art there.

This is the droid that will be played by Alan Tudyk. I am really jazzed about the the look as it is really solid design work and he’s really rad. He’s kind of the opposite of BB-8. This guy looks scary but also has eyes that from certain angles convey a little bit of sadness and he’s bipedal.

On his shoulder he has the Imperial Cog symbol still, the same one on the TIE Pilot helmet.

Implication he might be an imperial droid, the rebels re-program to assist them in stealing the plans.

Also seems to fit the narrative of Mads Mikkelsen character not being a villain, but an imperial scientist defector, it could be his droid carrying the plans.

These old leaked set pics have been circulating for some time, hence most sites ran with the close up at the time "revealing" classic troopers, and Yen's character relaxing on the ramp.

However if you pan out, bottom right.......

Are those crew members....?

Is that Riz Ahmed's character, goggles, grey jump suit?
Next to him?
A rebel soldier?
Is he holding a black helmet?
Possibly the rumored Dark Trooper?

When do you think we will get our first trailer?

I am predicting, we will get our first trailer with Captain America: Civil War: on May 4, 2016, Alice: Through The Looking Glass on May 27, 2016, or Finding Dory on June 17, 2016

Rogue One comic:

"At C2E2, Marvel Comics announced a 3-issue Rogue One miniseries set for release in October with an additional one-shot issue (release TBD). No creative team or artwork was shared...."
http://**************.net/2016/03/rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-comic-mini-series-coming-october-2016/

"it’s to be assumed that this is a prequel to the film since this miniseries hits in October, before the film in December."

That's cool, we might be getting further back stories for the characters, since as per the main 5 cast pic. plus Tudyk and Mikkelsen, that is allot of characters to develop in a single film. Especially considering most likely won't survive.
This might (for those wanting more) be an opportunity to flesh them out before the film.

As well as the Del Rey Prequel novel Star Wars: Catalyst - A Rogue One story announced in the other thread. http://**************.net/2016/03/rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-prequel-book-coming-this-fall/

Not sure if this small Rebel group is already assembled at the films start, or where they get them, but I am curious, these are not your regular Rebels.

Gareth Edwards seems to have implied this group will come from a more - "morally ambiguous areas of the Rebellion."

So wherever their back story is developed, Novel and Comic, I look forward to it.

Rogue One marketing is slowly starting to reveal itself.

Yes, we were talking all about that in the general news thread.

Yes, we were talking all about that in the general news thread.

Yeah the expanded U comic is being discussed here. Right now most the discussion is still here and the other thread repeats what's already been discussed here. I'm conflicted on where to post, I wish there was one thread.
This is the original, longer running all news thread, so I'm still kind of used to posting here. Going back to the 05-22-2014 announcement of Edwards as director, to Felicity Jones, and all the cast updates, the original onset cast leaks and behind the scenes reveals are all here.
It's easier to reference all the past discussions, news, and links in this thread.
Not sure why the new overlap thread and discussion was created there? When there was already a year's worth of news and discussion?
The other starts around 01-04-2016, the equivalent page 26 post #628 of this thread, maybe they should have been merged there?:wow:

No most of the newer discussion has hopped on over to the General News and Discussion section, which is common in all the threads. I just say merge the threads and name it "General News and Discussion" It's universal on these forums and people go there first. We can ask a mod to do so.
