The Dark Knight Rises Gary Oldman - "We start shooting next year. You didn't hear that from me"

^cloverfield like hype. that was the biggest stand out trailer i have ever seen (teaser trailer)

I think the real news here isn't 2011 or 2012.

I think what we take away from this for fact is that Nolan is back.

Excellent point, for that alone let us rejoice. i love how everyone was thinking hed need some huge break between inception and bats. This is the man's work, making movies, he loves it, and he knows the public is aching for him to finish what he started. He knows that while he shouldnt rush it, he knows he also shouldnt linger too long. I 'm sure by now hes come up with a fantastic capper for the trilogy, so lets get it done. sidepoint- not to be glum, buthow long have freeman and caine really got, if those two were principal cast members of mie i would not waste time.

I tend to agree, something tells me Thor is going to flop big time.

Everyone says that. :csad:

That's what I thought when I first heard about the movie too.

Is Jessica Biel in it really? Then it will FAIL!!!!

They should get Shia Lebouf to play Robin.

Robin is nessecary for the Bat-Universe. He's just as vital a character as Batman or Joker.

But these are Bats early years, so I don't see Robin coming until a 8th or 9th film, when Nolan has probably retired from Batman movies.

I still think the idea of Robin is absurd though. Gotham is full of murderers, sadists, etc. and Bruce Wayne is willing to put a child in harm's way by having him fight these people?

It's no more absurd than a guy dressing like a giant bat and fighting armed thugs with his fists.

It could make great stories. Robin is an interesting character. Remeber Jason Todd in "the cult" or "a death in the family", or the awesome "A lonely place of dying" with Tim Drake. Great Batman stories, with Robin being a key character.

Premature but I'd rather see The Green Hornet. I find Rogen likable.

You'd rather see Green Hornet than a Kenneth Branagh directed Thor movie?!?! Madness.

I don't care if Thor isn't that popular, I think it's gonna be a great quality movie. And I think Loki has the potential to me one of the best cinematic villains ever.

And Robin is an important character. And could lead to a great storyline for the third movie. I've explained my thoughts on Robin working in Nolans films many times, can't be bothered to again.

But I will say that anyone who thinks Robins inclusion automatically makes it lighter and "kiddified" is a idiot.

Hmmm that brings up an interesting question. If Nolan is definitely done after a 3rd film...do we think that the next one will continue where Nolan left off? Will the next films take into account the events in Nolans films?

I'd like them to keep the same sorta continuity, but in a different style and tone. I don't want someone coming in and just copying Nolans style. They should bring their own style and method to the Bat universe. But retain the same sorta continuity.

I definitely don't want another restart or reboot or whatever.

Yeah...I wonder if it'll just be like a Batman Returns or Batman Forever thing where they just start off with their own story, and maybe have 1 line of dialogue that goes back on a previous film.

:facepalm

Your missing the point.

Wouldn't you want a decent and roughly even number of movies for two years in a row or would you rather have it like this year and last year where last year was full of good to great films while this summer there have only been a couple of films that were actually decent?
I couldn't give a rats arse if it's 3 films or 15 films, it's the quality that matters.
While 2011 already seems to have a solid lineup of films 2012 doesn't aside from Avengers and I think Captain America. Instead of jam packing the summer of 2011 I would rather have Batman or hell, any other summer film go to 2012 to give us some more entertaining films that year so we're not left with slim pickings.

You're assuming 2012 is going to be slim pickings. We have no idea what other movies may end up being set for 2012. A bit presumptuous to say things are looking a bit thin.
I think it depends on the advertising . There needs to be alot of hype and a stand out trailer.

I think Thor needs a lot more help than that. Little name recognition, no-name lead, I seriously think it's gonna struggle.

I don't think you give enough credit to the name THOR. It's Thor for fricks sakes. I knew about him long before I even got into comic books.

Characters who are in movies who have no previous source material can become popular right? I don't even see why name recognition is that big a deal. As long as the movie looks good and interesting in the trailers and other advertisements, and the movie is actually good (which I'm 100% positive Thor will be) name recognition shouldn't really come into it.

^ And I think you're giving the name too much credit. We'll see in a couple years I guess what the end result is.

I think Thor will do alright. The GA eats up most comic-book movies these days. Watchmen did okay it's first weekend then trailed off. I personally think it was by word of mouth of people (like the non-comic buffs I work with) who go and see EVERY comic book movie out there.

So I think Thor will do well, and if it turns out to be a good movie, (which I think it will) I'm sure the news will spread.

Could be wrong, just sayin'.

Oh yeah...um...Gary Oldman thanks for that man.
