Just a thought but if what we've heard is true so far...
What if Jyn's father was picked up by the Empire and his family disappeared to insure his loyalty?

If Jyn was a typical teenager maybe she wasn't at home the night the Empire came to pick them up and ended up on the run possibly blamed for whatever they did.

So lets assume Jyn's father thinks the Empire has his wife and daughter so the Rebels have no means to get any help from him, that is until they discover Jyn.

I'm guessing the rebels don't take no when they recruit her so she's an unwilling participant in their operation to make full use of that chink in her father's armour.

The real question is whether the Empire tries to turn her against her fellow rebels because of how they recruited her, but once she meets her father and learns the truth maybe she's how the operation succeeds but not without a heck of a lot of danger

Sounds like the Empire took her family but she escaped:

“I spend a lot of time with [Jones] and she’s a wonderful actress. I play her dad at the time of Felicity and I play her dad when she’s younger, so we jump back and forth in time.”

"Nighttime. Trees and bushes in the distance but you can see structures far out. In a clearing there’s a little girl outside a fence. Her family is on the other side. The father is shouting to the little girl and Stormtroopers are coming for them. Mom is crying, older son looks resigned. Little girl has one foot behind her as if she’s about to run. Stormtroopers had backpacks on with tubular rifles."

So I've been absent from the Star Wars boards for awhile. What's the general vibe here about the Rogue One trailer? I found it immensely disappointing and... well, boring.

The lead character is incredibly uninteresting. She seems like a Hunger Games knock-off, and every line she had in the trailer was spoken in a bored or depressed tone. She also had only one facial expression throughout the whole trailer.

The supporting cast also seems uninteresting, and I found that the cinematography was odd - the excessive blurring of the background feels like something you see in cheap fan-made films, not in a theatre.

I'm hoping subsequent trailers are more promising.

............ 'kay.

I like that even LEGO captured the napping Storm Trooper.

Reeelax man, it was meant to be funny, and a silly excuse to post those gifs.:funny:

Given the "criticism" her character has received, you can understand why some don't take it seriously.

BTW... trailer was in front of Civil War.

Seeing all that on the big screen just brought up up another level.

Agree, the trailer played when I went to see Civil War and it looked magnificent on the big screen! A large screen and proper sound really elevate the feeling.

Oh me, yes yes.

I actually thought that about the shot with that racks focus from the foreground stormies, to the background tank.

... The rest though, nah brah. :o

So the implication being that is Vader regenerating in the tank?
And who is kneeling before him, the Emperor may venerate his "creation" doesn't seem like he would kneel before him though?
Or is it Vader temporarily in a robe, preparing to get into the regeneration tank provided by the Emperor (if that's even what it is)?

Same here. Goosebumps confirmed :woot:

I'm so sick of the "it's just like The Hunger Games nonsense." The only thing that she has in common with Katniss is behind dark haired and having kind of a serious personality. Which is, guess what, not exclusive to Katniss. It just screams "oh there was another popular recent series with a female lead, so of course they must be ripping that off."

If they kept everything in this trailer exactly the same, but made her character a man, those comparison would "magically" go away, I guarantee it.

The lead character has a vagina. Clearly just like the Hunger Games.

I felt pretty much the exact opposite of this. Loved the trailer and it me very pumped and intrigued for this movie.

Yep! Until seeing Civil War, I had only seen the trailer several times on my computer. I loved it then but it was at a whole other level on the big screen. Even the title card at the end of the trailer was really epic.

This is why I say Star Wars is the cinema king. A freaking title card at the end of a trailer gave me goosebumps.

The Trailer on the big screen was quite a sight when I saw CW.
