Well, that sounds really dissapointing to me, the first movie wasnt the best, but at least it was faithful, and the coin toss stuff just sounds ridiculous, sorry, but I dont like the sound of this at all and I was expecting a drastic improvement on the first movie.

I hope so, because this movie sounds worse than the first one to me.

Guys, let's stop for a second and re-evaluate this.

First of all, Ave, I gotta dissagree on the script sounding worse than the first film's. Johnson's movie was complete garbage. The way the occult element was totally turned into Fox Kids crap, the way every single character was not given a reason to exist, the horrible action... There was no mention of Zarathos, of the Kale family curse, of nothing

. I really didn't care about the movie at all by the time Barton died. So yeah, I think they pretty much reached the bottomless pit of writing with the first movie.

Now, while this probably won't be the Ghost Rider movie of my dreams, it actually sounds like something that with proper execution can deliver a satisfying and actually meaningful Ghost Rider tale. I personally prefer Dan over Johnny, but I'll take what I can get, not to mention I've been waiting 20 years to see this [below] unfold in the big screen

Blackout isnt even Blackout here his powers sound more like Blackheart, who we got in the last movie

Blackout is a vamp. This version seems more like a blackheart from the first movie.

Blackout was always a pseudo-vampire, guys [and gals]. He got the fangs made and had the obsession with horror films (presumably all of them 80s movies since the character was created in 1990) so this isn't really a radical departure from the character, specially since he was allergic to sunlight (can't think of a better connection to vamps). My guess is the writing team figured let's just take him to that next level he'd fit alot better in and I agree with them. If he's done anything like True Blood's Russell Edgington or Eric Northman or Franklin Mott we've got a potentially perfect opponent for The Rider.

Not to mention that The Immortal himself is playing him

Btw its official that Chris is in the movie (he announced it on his Official Facebook page) there's just no confirmation on him playing Blackout, but I'm pretty sure he is though. Neveldine/Taylor must be Highlander fans and I'm happy that they're bringing him out of retirement. The last time I saw him in the big screen was in the last Highlander movie ten years ago. He's also about the same age as Cage (7 year difference) so it makes for a good face/off.

In conclusion, I'm confident that Neveldine/Taylor can deliver the above story in a deliciously violent and gruesome way. If they go for a True Blood vibe, we're in for a treat.

There's no confirmation of Whitworth or Lambert as Blackout. If it does go to Whitworth I will lose 50% of my interest in this movie. Chris better be playing Blackout

That would really ruin what I think has been pretty good casting so far. Hinds is a great fit for Satan and Stringer Bell can play pretty much anyone he wants and make it work.

The overall "plot synopsis" sounds pretty good in my opinion, the only problem I have is that Ghost Rider seems to get forced back into Johnny Blaze an awful lot.

It sounds like everytime he comes up against a supernatural foes they always manage to overpower him or transform himback into Johnny (not cool).

The first movie was a lot more faithful than this sounds, we got the condensed version of Johnny's origin, which was in need of condensing in all honesty, we got all of GR's powers and even some lines from the comics were used in the movie, not to mention plenty was kept from the early GR comics like the devil keeping Johnny alive, etc.

This, sounds nothing like GR, the humans stopping GR with a missile? Please, not to mention every foe he seems to encounter in this new movie defeats him easily. At least in the first movie GR was the unstoppable machine we know he is, and dont even get me started on the coin toss thing and Blackout sounds more like Blackino, nothing like the character from the comics at all.

Sony is doing a cheap ne'er do well sequel here so the rights don't revert back to Marvel. They dragged their feet on doing an actual sequel with that Johnson misfire for years and now they are doing this.

Oh stop it. I am not gonna be foolish and predict this movie is going to be amazing I am reserving until I see a trailer but if Sony was being real cheap asses I don't see why they would go through the trouble of hiring Neveldine/Taylor and even Nic Cage which I am sure isn't cheap. If Sony was really cheaping out they would have hired some no name director and dropped Cage. Whether you liked or hated the movie (I hated it for the record) you can't deny it was somewhat profitable for Sony despite being poorly received by critics and fans.

Look at all the trash Nic Cage has been in as of late. Dude needs money since he's teetering on bankruptcy and pretty much broke.

Neveldine and Taylor aren't exactly expensive Steven Spielberg level directors. They are definitely cheaping out with this movie.

It might still be a cool movie but I feel like it might as well be direct-to-dvd. And making $$$ back on dvd sales is probably what they're hoping for.
