If we do it at all, Jase and I will definitely be going in with our game faces on. Guards will be up 100% because I know what I'm dealing with here. And Jason said he would be in uniform--and armed--which will naturally keep the eyes of other dining customers on us, and further discourage Dave from acting a fool.

The only thing this guy has on his mind is revenge. He's not practicing his formal apology in a mirror somewhere. He's not even going to be at this meeting place. If you're lucky, no one will show up at all and a hired thug will burglarize Jason's apartment for the preset hour that you two foolishly left it. If you are unlucky, said hired thug will be tasked with your injury, even murder, ...again, because you foolishly walked into the situation David can control.

You've got to stop believing a tender connection still exists between you and David. If it really existed, he would never do any of these horrible acts against you. You're a nice person who is not seeing reality. I'm sorry but I'm really agreeing with the battered-woman thing: you may be too paralyzed by emotional reasoning to act in your best interest. The clear-headed suggestions of your friends and peers are flying right out of your ear. And don't explain how it's not! ....*sniffle*

Look, I know it sounds crazy but if he's gonna do something dangerous (i.e. shoot us) there he'd do the same thing if we were meeting with lawyers in tow at an office. It really doesn't make a difference. Violence can happen anywhere.

UPDATE:

I'm back.

I have spoken with David; he called me tonight. The conversation was fine and handled via speaker phone (so that Jason could overhear it--and Dave was made aware of his presence). I told him that I want to wrap everything up before he catches his flight back to LA. He agreed. He asked why I haven't replied to his text messages and I informed him that out of respect for Jason, effective immediately the whole texting s*** has come to an end. Any further conversations between us after our phone call tonight would require a third party presence. He didn't like the sound of that, but f*** him.

This is the plan as of tonight: We are going to meet for lunch at a local restaurant tommorrow afternoon. Jason will still be on duty and he will be with me when we sit down with David. Dave reinterated that he mainly wants meet with us so he can apologize for his actions (which is a confession). I told him that was fine.

I informed him that Jason will be chairing and mediating our meeting as a COP ON DUTY. Jase will obviously be armed just in case something goes down with Dave, which, if it does, Jason will have just grounds to arrest him on the spot. I've decided to handle it this way because it will nullify any possible future claims that Dave might make that Jase is abusing his power/authority.

Jason says he will arrange to have his cop partner stationed in the restaurant within view of us, but out of earshot of our conversation. This is for added protection.

We are going to deal with this face to face. The meeting's purpose is for me to reveal my intentions legally and to see where Dave's head is at right now. I hope he is being sincere but like I said...if he tries to pull anything Jason will have his face on that table and foot on his neck in a heartbeat--and Jason will have back-up on top of that. Obviously I cannot beat his ass myself because then Jason would be obligated to arrest me. LOL

While I didn't mention to him on the phone (our convo was very brief), I will tell Dave tommorrow that I am retaining a lawyer of my own to represent me and that I suggest he get one of his own.

I am done pu$$y-footing around with this s*** now.

I am taking everyone's suggestions to heart--including Jason's, who totally agrees with all ya'll. I am getting a lawyer tommorrow. I'm not interested in pressing charges at this point, I just want my s*** back. And I'm gonna get it using the legal and police systems available to me.

As far as a "tender connection" between me and David...there isn't one. I am not interested in rekindling anything with his azz. And no offense to you or Mal, but...I despise the battered woman analogy. Call me a battered dude because I'm a man, there's nothing fem going on here. I'm just trying to handle this in a clean, honest manner so we can cut down on the collateral damage. I'm like Jean Luc Picard--I'm a master negotiator. And I believe I can reach David's former nature enough to get what I want out of this split.

Good luck LS. Hope we can see all this end peacefully. I must admit, this thread could very well come full circle. From your meeting Jason, to your getting together, to Christmas, to the possible end of your troubles with David, it all coem sback around. Hopefully you and Jason will be happy together for as long as possible, forever even, not to sound cheesy and all, and although we'll all miss the tales of Lightning Strykez, we'll know things turned out for the best.

I don't know if I mentioned this but...I actually told Jason about this site and my dedication to it. So he's been following this thread (although he's not interested in joining the Hype). As far as a screenplay, he said the same thing and he's informed me that he's got copyrighting dibs. He says he needs the money so he can retire young.
