Hans Zimmer Scoring The Man of Steel - Part 3

New member just saying hi and that I've been listening to the Deluxe soundtrack for several days now (saw the movie on Friday afternoon), it's definitely something I find quite enjoyable overall.

I love the drumwork in "This Is Madness!" but I've taken a liking to "Arcade" for the theme it has which is featured in several scenes in the movie.

Great work from Zimmer as always.

I must say, at first it seemed like a standard action Zimmer track, but after repeat listens, "If you love these people" is awe-inspiring. Percussive, Brassy, Choir, this track is just epic and beautiful all around. Hopefully the full sessions leak soon for those remaining bits.

The first 25 seconds of Are you Listening Clark? was one of my favorite musical sections of the whole film.

Also my theme music while at work.

I don't know if this was posted already. If so my mistake.

Couldn't help but laugh @ what Zimmer said @ 1:38.

So far I've brought Flight. Thinking about buying If U Luv These People, Tornado and a few others.

"If you love these people" is incredible. I just wished the climax was longer, it just cuts abruptly :c

This is why man of steel is superior to returns it has freaking emotion not walking stones

After having seen the film, I think the score fits the scene in the movie well and it does what is supposed to do. Score does everything but hurt the film. It also tends on it own quite well. So I have no qualms listening to it occasionally.

Does anybody know what song was playing when Jor-El started helping Lois escape from the Black Zero?

Well Superman finally heard Zimmer's MOS score. And even he gets an earache and headache from it.

After listening to every track on the Deluxe edition dozens of times, I don't recognize that particular bit of music that plays during that scene. I had suspected it might be part of track 2 on the second disc ("Man of Steel (Hans' Original Sketchbook)) but there's just nothing that has the same vibrato-style theme from the string instruments, at least nothing that I can directly match up in my listening.

I think the tone of Zimmer's score fit the movie. I actually have some issues with the editing and mixing of the score in the film, which I found less than effective at times, but in terms of overall tone...when I listen to the score isolated, it sounds like the world Snyder created. The movie itself is kind of moody, with huge adrenaline pumping bombastic action. A score in the vein of Michael Giacchino's Star Trek scores could have worked, but it wouldn't have been as edgy as the tone they were going for.

Zimmer did the job he was hired for, and Snyder knew who he was hiring. I just don't think it's fair to be like "Zimmer ruined Superman!", when he was the guy who kept turning down the job with Snyder pretty much begging him to take it. Snyder wanted Hans' low brass, emotional string swells and huge percussion and all that stuff you guys hate. You don't hire Hans Zimmer to score a huge superhero action movie if you want a more swashbuckling musical motif. Eg. The Amazing Spider-Man- Webb specifically wanted a throwback kind of superhero score with a clear main theme, so he hired James Horner and specifically instructed him to write a catchy jingle for the main theme.

I'm just saying, by all means hate the score, but Snyder hired Zimmer to be Zimmer. And chased him down too- there was nobody else to score the film in his mind.

The score is great within the movie and on its own. You guys need to get your ears checked.

Used to be that Zimmer was the go-to guy for such motifs. Ah, I long for the days of Zimmer's earlier works.

Your condescension has completely changed my opinion. The wit of your remark "you need to get your ears checked" fills me with shame and I have suddenly realized the absurdity of my views. Your persuasive skills are far greater than my own. Thank you for opening my eyes and ears and changing my very soul.
