Hans Zimmer Scoring The Man of Steel - Part 3

Do you think that was a wise choice to musically emphasize his alien side given the plot of the film?

(I don't)

Well, to be fair for a lot of the film he's an isolated guy who doesn't understand his place in the world and even once he does, he still has some pause about whether mankind can be trusted. The movie seems to emphasize his alien side to a large degree. And I can't really blame Zimmer for not writing a Lois/Clark love theme because that aspect is really downplayed in the film.

I guess I'm a bit more critical of the movie than I am the score.

I agree with the post above wholeheartedly: Clark/Kal spends pretty much his entire life here on Earth as as human that can't even do or participate in human things - in a room full of other humans he's completely alone, save for his parents.

I'm pretty sure in such a situation the most human thing to do, oddly enough, is feel alienated.

Funny how that works...

The last minute or so of this set to the first proper flight over the arctic, the african savanna, the ocean, through the canyons, space and all that was/is like the best thing ever.

I can't stop playing the theme in my head

Tornado is stuck inside my head. especially the last 60 seconds of that track. :csad:

any idea what track they used during the Lois Lane/Black Zero rescue sequence? listened to the entire soundtrack already buy I can't seem to find it.

I bought Terraforming because I thought it would have that awesome sound the machine makes in the movie. I didn't know if that was part of the score or not. Should have bought Tornado instead.

After hearing the music with the movie, I don't think it was bad (the main theme is pretty good), but it could have been better. While it was a good decision to avoid copying elements of the Williams score, I don't think it would've hurt to make the music more than it was. There's a sense of patriotism Superman needs in his music, and MOS just barely scratches the surface in a few instances. There wasn't even a trumpet or woodwinds, were there?

IMO WAYGTDWYANSTW is the best Superhero theme since Batman 89. I love Elfman's Spider-Man theme and Zimmer's various Batman/TDK themes such as "Molossus" or "Like a dog chasing cars", but Zimmer's Superman theme for MOS cranked in the car, gets my blood pumping, and the little hairs standing up on the back of my neck. For the next movie, I hope we get opening credits where they blast this theme. Over time this theme will get ingrained into pop culture in the same way JW's Superman theme has. NO!! i'm not saying Zimmer's is better, just different, and great in it's own right.

I agree, love "What Are You Going To Do When You Are Not Saving The World" track!

Bought the soundtrack for this. Not really a soundtrack guy but I've bought 3 soundtracks in 2 ears because I thought they were excellent.

TDKR - Zimmer
MoS - Zimmer
ASM - Horner

Favorite tracks are 'what you going to do' and 'Arcade'.

Still digging Arcade, General Zod, You Lead Us Here and I Will Find Him.

No offense but :lmao:. I know it's your opinion but still.

Maybe it will be ingrained into pop culture for the Zimmer fans and MOS fans but for everybody else? I HIGHLY doubt that. Except for the "noise" that was substituting for a music score in MOS. The score was rather forgettable in the film for the most part. It didn't have the same impact in the film (or pop culture for that matter) as Williams' Superman march & score had in it's own film back in the day. I think the reason some remember the MOS "theme" is b/c they listen to the soundtrack (and watched the 3rd trailer) hundreds of times. No offense to fans of this score, but I doubt it'll be ingrained in pop culture period. Especially not in the same way Williams' was and still is.

Lol, remember when you said you were gonna try to watch your tone when it came to chatting with Zimmer fans on here? So much for that, eh?

You can't ROFL at someone's opinion while saying "no offense", doesn't work like that. If you're gonna be a **** to people, at least have the decency to not pretend like you're not being one.

I loved the music! I think it fit in really well with what was happening on screen. It enhanced my enjoyment of the movie. Gave me chills at the appropriate scenes. Kind of like the "Star Trek: Into Darkness" music did. I know my friend was kind of bummed not to get the Donner movie theme in there, but frankly, I liked this one's MUCH better.

I respect the guy's opinion but it doesn't mean I can't laugh at the absurdity in it.

You'd rather I'd responded with something that'll make me sick to my stomach i.e. "I agree Zimmer's MOS score is the greatest score ever written and makes Williams' Superman score (and any other superhero score before MOS) sound like rubbish in comparison. Screw Morricone, Williams, Goldsmith, Horner, Shore, Elfman, Giacchino, JNH, etc. Zimmer is the greatest composer of all time. Every composer living and dead are just s flick of dandruff talentwise to Zimmer. The MOS score confirms this." :whatever:

I found it funny that he thinks Zimmer's MOS theme is the best since Elfman's Batman 89 theme, b/c there's been some memorable superhero themes over the years since B89 imo. That'll be more memorable than the MOS theme over time. For example, both Walker's and Goldenthal's Batman themes, Walker's Superman theme, Goldsmith's theme for The Shadow, both Ottman's and Powell's X-men themes, both Elfman's and Horner's Spidey themes, Beltrami's Hellboy theme, Giacchino's theme for The Incredibles, Silvestri's Judge Dredd and Captain America theme, Doyle's Thor theme. All of those crap on Zimmer MOS theme, imo. So if he, you, and many others believe that the MOS theme is the greatest superhero theme ever written...

He likes MOS the most out of any superhero score? The absurdity! An opinion? HA!

Hold on, wait. I've only done this 500 times with this guy.

~ Someone rightfully calls him out on being a troll
~ ''Well I don't hate Zimmer but blah blah blah"

Rinse, Wash, Repeat.

You sir, don't even realize how big a **** you are. It is possible to be respectful towards opinions you don't agree with without lying about your own opinions, and if you can't do that then you're better off not even posting in the first place. Mocking peoples opinions is unacceptable no matter how much you disagree with them, especially when it's something with as much personal taste involved in it as music, is beyond arrogant. Then again, you'll probably just do all of this again in a few days.

Don't see how someone's OPINION can be questioned.
If he thinks the MoS score is one of the best since Batman '89 then that's his opinion.
