Hickman's "Avengers"

I've not really read any of the old stuff either, but the concept greatly interested me and I read a bunch of summaries about some of it. I checked out the newuniversal version of it too, and that was interesting as well. Too bad it was never really finished.

Yeah, that was utter bullcrap. Some independent studio not finishing a project, okay. But Marvel? Get your crap together. Especially ticks me off because Quesada promised numerous times for YEARS that it would be finished before he finally acknowledged it wouldn't.

That kinda thing happens all the time, though.

I'm getting sick of seeing Deodato on Avengers. I like his work, it's improved a lot over time but they should let other artists work on the book instead of going back to him. When is Opena coming back? Or is he not...?

Did Deodato do a lot of the previous volume? My favorite on this run so far has been Weaver, so I can't wait to see more of him.

He did work on all of the Bendis volumes at some point or another including Dark Avengers.

I do miss Opena on the title. I thought he was perfect for the tone Hickman's been establishing. But whatever, it's not like he's bad.

I liked Opena a lot too, but I thought Weaver did a great job in the last arc.

THis...love the guy but him on Avengers is just tired.

I want to echo some praise for Weaver, although all of the artists have been great since the relaunch (Please stay away Romita Jr.). Deodato's not bad but I feel like he peaked on Thunderbolts and Dark Avengers... he's a great artist but his work seems to fit better with titles of a darker tone.

Yup, That is way I can't wait for his arc on New Avengers but I hope Epting comes back.

Mmm Thor and Hyperion...

I mean... cool story!

Thor and Hyperion, starring in: My Two Dads! :awesome:

Ugh, I'm getting real bored of Deodato on Avengers.
Yeah, I really can't stand his art. The last couple issues have been tough to get through, especially coming hot on the heels of beautiful work from Opena and Weaver.

I love Deodato's art. Maybe not as much as Opena, but a heck of a lot more than Weaver. I wish Deodato was back on a book I'm currently reading.

I have no problem with his art. The guy has talent and has improved greatly since he first started in comics but he's been on Avengers forever spanning several different era's. Let someone else give the franchise their own look for a while.

He's improved a lot, but his backgrounds are laughable Photoshops of pictures and I f***ing hate his (and every other artist who does it) tendency to "cast" his comics. I don't want to see Tommy Lee Jones' face when I look at Norman Osborn. Of course, the alternative seems to be dull, unexpressive faces when he doesn't cast them, like Thor, who still has the same basic, boring, quick scribble for a face that he did when Deodato was on his comic in the '90s. Then there's the issue of his painfully wacky anatomy. It's just not a pleasure to look at anything he puts on paper, as far as I'm concerned.

I've gotten so used to his Osborne that I don't even see Tommy Lee Jones any more. It did used to bother me though.
