The Dark Knight http://www.whysoserious.com/kickingandscreening/

did you ever think this is more of a gift than a screening and thats why they are not overbooking???

Yes, I did. That's why I said THIS screening COULD be different, but I'm not going to hold my breath and wait to find out. I'm going to act.

I wouldn't fill it to capacity either.

People don't tend to sit directly next to a stranger when filling in a theater. Alot of people leave that open seat for courtesy space. If they completely sold out the theater it would lead to reshuffling and inconvenience for the last dozen or so people going in.

Also personally, I'd rather not be crammed in like sardines if it could be helped.

I take it you've never been to a screening or a sold out movie on a Friday night...

That's what I was thinking. I really don't understand what the huge deal is. I'm glad they are thinking ahead like that, it makes me feel like this actually is a special screening and not at all like an opening night fiasco.

Can we have some love in here? We're going to see TDK in two days everyone!! Holy crap!! :woot:

Actually I have, to both, and really didn't enjoy being elbow to elbow with someone 3 times my size. Or stuck behind someone with huge hair. Or having to get up over and over to let people by me to get out of the row.

Its not really a completely enjoyable experience. Clown cars or not, I'm glad they didn't pack us all into these places.

I don't either, I'm just saying don't be surprised if it happens. :cwink:

Ah, point taken.

Actually I'm expecting turnout to be lower than imagined. With all this talk of people getting multiple tickets they cant use, or people who just signed up for tickets at the nearest city but can't make the trip. I guess we'll see in a few days.

Yes, indeed we will.

HERE'S TO SEEING THE DARK KNIGHT IN TWO DAYS!!!! :woot:

Aren't Imax seats and spaces bigger thjan regular theaters in general? It's not really the same as a regular packed theater is it?...

It was based on an educated opinion and years of attending movie screenings. So in a sense, I do have some formal rules and stuff in front of me that no one else has, and just because there is no rule stated doesn't mean they won't boot you out once you're at the theater. This is their show (the people running the screeing) and they can do whatever they want.

I hate to be the one who breaks this to you, but they (the movie company booking the theatre) ALWAYS overbook the facilities. Why, you ask? To make sure the theatre is filled becuase they are paying for it. As I said before, I've been to many screenings and they ALWAYS hand out more tickets then there are seats and some people AWAYS get turned away for one reason or another. There is also a small area for the press and YOU can't sit there unless you're in the press. If you doubt this then call you theater and ask them, I already did.

You're right, life is rarely fair. But... let me tell you somthing... IF this screening is like the ALL the screenings I've been to in the past, not everyone will get in, not everyone will be guaranteed a seat and they will be denying entry to some people. You won't be notified that you broke the rules and you won't know until you get there.

Yes, that be unfair for them to drive all the way to the theatre to be denied entry, but you know what? Including myself, I know hundreds of people that has happend to. The screening is paid for my Warners Bros. and they are hoping you will see it and tell everyone who couldn't go to see the film on Friday. It's a promo, they don't really care who gets in as long as the theatre is filled.

Now, THIS screening COULD be different. I has been so far, but who knows... Maybe we will all get in and maybe we're all guaranteed seats, BUT I called my theatre and there are 280 seats at thier IMAX. So let's see... 114 tickets handed out on the net... each ticket is worth 2... so that's 228... 280 minus 228 is 52. So... why would Warners Bros. pay to book a theatre and not fill it? I don't know, do you?

No, I wouldn't think they have gotten their just desserts. I've only been trying to give a few warnings so that people are not surprised.

I'm 100% positive that you're wrong.

I've been to A LOT of movie screenings myself and I know exactly what you mean about the overbooking theaters. In fact, I have tickets to a Dark Knight screening on Wednesday through Dominos and I know for a fact that the theater is overbooked because in the fine print it says so because it HAS TO say so. We would have been warned if these screenings were overbooked because as I said, they would HAVE TO include that in the fine print. These screenings were provided as a gift to those who followed the viral campaign - it says so right on /kickingandscreening. In NO WAY does the website imply that these tickets are not a gift, or that the theaters will be overbooked. Just look at the amount of tickets available for free, nearly exactly half the theaters capacity in order to compensate for the fact that each is admit two. This is not your average screening. If it were, more tickets would have been made available thru /kickingandscreening. However, I don't doubt that the few extra seats left in each theater will be filled by execs and/or press - so, you're probably right in that respect. As someone else stated up above, the turnout will probably take a hit because of the whole "I didn't realize they were admit two, so I signed up for five tickets" debocle, and such. Oh well, I'm not complaining.

I hope I am wrong, but I'm not going to take the chance.

tell me this, how does one "deserve" tickets that are given out on a first come first served basis?

You said it yourself--think of it as a gift. Not necessarily one out of the blue, but a thank you gift, because we DID play a major part in the publicity of this movie. It would be ridiculous to expect a gift from someone you don't even know, or you only met earlier that day. That's what I mean. I think of these as gifts because we did a lot (and no one's saying it was horrible work--I had a great time regardless of ulterior motive) to contribute to the publicity of this movie. It's like we're an unofficial street team. So how one "deserves" tickets in this way of thinking about it is not necessarily a sense of entitlement, but of comparison. We do not necessarily "deserve" anything, but if this were like Christmas gifts, or you know, non-denominational holiday gifts, it's not...undeserved. I don't necessarily deserve a gift from my mom, but she gives one to me because she's my mom, and she loves me. Imagine if my mom didn't give me a gift but gave this random person she saw at the gas station my gift instead, because he happened to be there when she was holding it. That's what I mean. I'm not saying it's an exact metaphor, and in no way is my mom, or 42e or Warner Bros, obligated to give us anything. But I am saying that while we do not necessarily deserve this screening, we the people who've been playing it are more deserving.

And yeah, before this happens again, I am well aware that post count does not correspond to game dedication. But we all know who I mean. Like I said, there are a ton of people who didn't even know about the game until twenty minutes before it went up. Their loss, yeah, but the idea for this was to reward us, I think, for our dedication and loyalty and incidental publicity (and of course with hopes to generate more publicity, but I don't think we'll see anyone who got a ticket protesting that).

Fortunately, with the glitch of the game getting out to the general public (unless it was intentional--which I consider possible), the nature of it was such that essentially, you could only get a ticket if you were playing the game at the time, which means not every Tom, Dick and Harry could wander in and grab a ticket. It was a smart way to do it, I think.

HEY!!!!! i just saw the movie last night at navy pier! I had to take overnight to cath my breath and digest it all. I will not put spoilers on here so feel safe to read on. Anyone that has been involved in the virals will get such a HUGE payoff seeing this movie. There are so many little things in the movie just for us. Name drops and things on screen. Especially the first sequence after the prologue CFB 4 LIFE!!!! To say Heath Ledgers performance in this movie is oscar worthy is downplaying it my friends. He is HILARIOUS, DEMENTED, and HORRIFYING all at the same time in every single frame. For anyone living in chicago this movie is an ode to us and our city. The all IMAX city sweeps with leave you breathless and with goosebumps running up your arms. I cannot say enough about this movie, except that it is absolutely GIGANTIC. This film is the new benchmark for superhero . . . no scratch that just plain action movies from now on. It is just MASSIVE! I wanted it to start over again as soon as it was done. I will be seeing you all in Woodridge tomorrow night to get AWESTRUCK all over again. I literally cannot wait to see this with a brand new audience and fell the excitement and the tension. Only 24 more hours of waiting kids . . . live through it knowing you will be changed and ruined forever cinematically!!!!!

i can now officially say: see you all there!!

by the way.... who is Sean Riley?

How did you see it early?

You're freaking me out. Seriously, my blood pressure rose... :wow:

he got advanced, advance tix yesterday.

yeah the chicago comic vault had a private screening that was scheduled for thursday and got moved to yesterday by some warner bros involvement. seriously the movie is rediculously good. see it in imax! i know people keep saying this but i really don't think that the imax scenes will really translate to a smaller screen. the scope of the movie is MASSIVE just huge. if you live in chicago you will be so proud of this movie and how the city stands up and demands attention in those scenes

btw Byte I am so glad you got a ticket, I was waiting to hear if my friend was coming in or not then I was going to offer you my guest seat, I met you at the CFB rally through another friend.

Ok!! I am a desperate man here!!

I am looking for 1 ticket to the Woodridge show for the show on Tuesday night.

Here is what I have up for grabs!

Here is an authentic crew t-shirt from the set. Its a shirt I got from the crew while working on the movie for 7 days last summer. I played a cop named Sgt Andy Spellman and 3 other small roles. You can verify that on my imdb page. Hell, even Rory Bat can confim it! Sorry the shirt is a little wrinkly, its been folded in a box in my storage. I wore a navy blue coloured one to Wizard World this year and someone offered me $60 for it. Another guy right on the floor offered me $80 plus to buy me a new shirt from a booth to wear home. The shirt is an L size. I never wanted to part with anything cool I have like this from the movie but here it is in hopes of going to see the movie early!

Or I have A copy of the single disc soundtrack. I had it since Friday and offered it up all weekend but now it isnt such a big deal since it comes out tommorrow.

Or I have this. You all know what this is. Heavily scalped and hard to find. It is also the first version face, not the new one shipping in the Scarecrow wave.

Non-TDK related or I have this as well.

An exclusive TRU colour Spartan EVA from the new Halo 3 line. I picked up an extra for a friend but he got it also before I talked to him. I'm offering it up here before I return it.

So there it is. You can pm me, email me [email protected][/EMAIL">[email protected]"][email protected]
or even call my cell at 815-671-8023 since we are so close and down to the wire!

Awesome, you were IN the movie!

I hope you find someone to take you!
