So I'm currently involved with this girl, and we've hung out and stuff, made out a couple times, etc. But I feel like a scumbag because I'm 20 and she's 16, soon to be 17. Do you think I'm too old to be seeing her? Or should I keep seeing her? While I don't like to get too personal, this is something I'd like to see an outside opinion on.

C'mon people, can you honestly tell me that you think 16 yr old girls are innocent? I don't know what it's like in america, but ehre in england, 14 yr old girls are out screwing all the time, it's nasty, but its how it is. This girl clearly knows what she's doing, it's not like she's a baby, Unles she's like ******ed or something with a young mental age. I think she knows what she's doing. As for age, how many times have you been to the pub before you were 18?(drinking age in england) And how many times have you hooked up with a girl thinking she was like 19, when she turns out to be 17? Age is a state of mind, it depends on so many variables, none of which we seem to know, and when i was 16, my gf's parents were ok with me staying over her house(she was 15, just a few months younger). Obviously I was the gentleman and didn't sleep with her till agter her 16th, but if your a nice enough person, the parents aren't an issue. Seriously, we don't know enough to judge this properly, but if it's illegal where you are, I would watch myself! Just say, ring me in a year, lol

Well it's the fact that some men can be gentlemen, I didn't sleep with her as soon as she turned 16 either. And I get on really well with her parents and even though we are not together we're still really good mates, and I always make sure she's ok, so I think her parents were pretty sensible actually.

A simple rule that I think is helpful : if you are in high school ( or of HS aga ), date high school girls. If you are in college ( or college age ) date college girls.
In this case, the only way you are going to safely carry on this relationship is to make it an asexual one AND tell her parents/guardians that is your intention.

I'll second that....dude, the years after 18 and before 21 suck...but to not even be able to find someone within your legal age group as your girlfriend, c'mon...if your still doing this by the time you turn 21 then theres an even bigger problem. You'll be a better person in the end if you just let her go...for now...maybe a few years down the line when she's 18 you will still be friends....and then you can think about a relationship. Don't listen to people that are saying age aint nothing but a number, it'll just end bad. Its just the way it goes...do you even know her family or friends? How do they feel?...don't just talk to us, we're a bunch of faceless nameless strangers...but I get the feeling that majority rules, you came on here asking for help and what people thought...I think you've been given some good advice.

19 dating a 17 year old isn't that big of a deal. In a couple of months the thread starter's girl he's seeing will turn 17 but 6 months later he will be 21. Things aren't as liberal here, so doing the bar, club scene would be a lil difficult for them.
