The Dark Knight Rises Ideas For Incorporating Characters Into the Nolanverse

First off let me say that I like fresh ideas. I haven't really read anything like this for a while now. Having said that there's one big problem...

I don't see the Joker working for SOMEONE else. Even when he was working for the mob he was really only out for himself.

I'm not a big fan of Talia D.A. idea either. How about a smaller part with Pamela Isley as the new D.A.? Maybe she's working for Black Mask and using a derivative of the Fear Toxin? I don't know, just an idea...

Also, I think your climax is too close to what we saw in TDK.

I love it when people use Wiki to back up their argument. Sorry my friend, but you have failed here.

Obviously the Joker has something to gain......with all the mythology backing the Black Mask and his false face society the two fit together quite flawlessly.
As far as Talia goes....go back and watch Begins when Ras speaks of how the League of Shadows has penetrated every level of establishment in Gotham and thats where this fits in....but instead of the League wanting to kill Batman the want to recruit him to lead their team in replace of Ras. In order to defeat Black Mask he needs the help of The League but at the moment he realizes it...All hell breaks loose with Mr.J getting loose.

I need some more ideas for version 8 but I cant let go of the story's best arc The Joker was part of the False Face Society Black Mask was once in the League of Shadows and like Black Mask, Joker went rogue.

I like Bruce Wayne trying now to fight with out the mask, using Wayne Enterprises and then to some extent its destroyed right in front of him first by Black Masks intel and destroying the name of Wayne Enterprises, then physically by the Joker. At the end of the story Bruce realizes he as well as Gotham City need Batman to balance the order against the chaos and corrupt.

Thanks for the added correction, couldn't remember the exact line.
i have most of the lines memorized, sad huh?
black mask as a lleague member? no, joker ffs?no but the rest im okay with

Alfred was the one who suggested that he should become the outcast remember?
Oh come on now, no fights? Its not like we got a lot of them so far...

I didn't say no fights. I just don't need to see a physical confrontation between Batman and the Riddler.

You have a point about Alfred, but I think that was more about doing what needed to be done to stop Joker. But I also think, given the events of TDK, that Alfred might encourage Bruce to hang up the cowl for good. I could be totally wrong.

I'll tell u what.

If the Nolans and Goyer decide to add a hitman/assassin type of character to hunt and battle the Batman in the next film like Deathstroke or Deadshot, then Jason Statham would be a great choice to play either one of those parts.....especially Deathstroke!

If it's Bane....then a bulked up Javier Bardem or a bulked up Benecio Del Toro would be the perfect actors for Bane.

I still can't see either of those two actors playing Bane. I think they're both great actors, especially Del Toro but I just can't see it.

I'm not one of those types that instantly picks a wrestler or someone big who probably can't act just because Bane(or whatever large character we might be talking about) is a big guy, but those two, although good actors are too small.

Only way Bane would be possible is if they did find someone really big who could pull off a decent performance or they change him from the comics in size...by a lot.

Nah....Bane doesn't have to be this huge freakin monster. Just get a great actor who physically kind a big and latin like Bardem or Del Toro and just have them work out hard and bulk up.

maybe some steroid use to help, but i am al for tel toro or bardem, there was a time n the comics were it was a possibilty that bane might have been bruces brother, what if they adapted that? make the man looking for wayne act different from bane, then have the same guy as bane, you never see the two in the same room, and at the end,m you think there to different characters when wham! bane is waiting for him at home sans mask, beats on bats a little than puts it on, maybe

I understand where your ideas are coming from and believe me they are great, but I myself have issues with a few things.

The mythology your talking about only exsists on the comics. In order to adapt your idea to what Nolan has already done Black Mask and his false face society would have to have been around before Batman Begins. I just don't see that working because it's almost like you're going backwards in storytelling.

I'm very familar with Batman Begins and I like Talia, but I think your ideas here are too close to what came before. Give me something new, give me something fresh.

As far the Joker goes, I don't want to know "The who, the how, and the why". I just want the mystery. You would also have to recast the Joker and I don't see that happening either.

I do think Bruce Wayne and Batman could battle Black Mask though.

In closing, as I said I really like your ideas, but... I don't think they fit with where the story NEEDS to go after the events of TDK. If you're just doing this for fun then by all means take all the liberty's you want.

Now, I'd like to get your take on an idea of mine. This is something I came up with while reading your stuff. Here goes...

Draft One

The story would be set a year after the events of The Dark Knight, giving Roman Sionis plenty of time to come and "setup shop" in Gotham. He could also use his dual identity to the fullest. As Sionis he would be everything that Bruce Wayne is on the surface, a philanthropist, who in the public eye is totally clean. As Black Mask he would control the largest organized crime family in the history of Gotham. (We need escalation here, a mob boss and a "freak" in one.) With most of the mob left in chaos the underworld would be his for the taking. Sionis still battles Wayne Enterprises and Bruce gets the feeling that he's dirty, but has to prove it as Batman.

There also has to be a rouge element, which is where Catwoman comes into play. Her background would have to be changed a little to fit the story, but her main motivation is to kill Black Mask. He killed someone close to her and she's one of the few people alive who knows that Sionis and Black Mask are the same person. She strikes at him in the underworld as well as publicly, which puts her on the outcast list. The police want her because he's tried to kill an important business man, Batman wants her because she's interfering with his crusade against injustice.

The final player in the game would be the Penguin. Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, flashy nightclub owner to the public and seller of arms and information to "other parties". He sells weapons to the False Face Society to help take over Gotham, while selling information about thier leader to the police and Catwoman. His motivation is to reap the largest benefits, while secretly hoping they wipe each other out so he can step in and take control of Gotham. To make is character a little more real the nickname of "The Penguin" could be a joke in the underworld. He wouldn't even need to be called The Penguin. Black Mask sends his men to see "The Bird" about weapons.

The final act of the film could play out with Black Mask holding Gotham at ransom with a nuke. Batman finds him, and with a little help from Catwoman, proves to the public who Sionis really is. Batman redeems himself in the public eye, but Catwoman is forced to reveal her identity and answer for trying to murder Sionis.

I think this this flows well with Nolan's crime epic, gives us a nice duality theme and still manages to deliver three NEW characters with solid motivation. Let me know what you think.

Alex, that's brilliant. and not only that but it ups the ante. This would be an interesting third act and could potentially be just as good as DK. But I still wanna see Selena as a thief and that ol' Scarecrow. He has a Wile E. Coyote thing goin' on that I like in these movies. but I likey!

yes, your a frakin genius!

Oh, thank you! :cwink:

Thanks man! I came up with the story in about ten minutes, give me ten weeks and I'll blow you away.

Oh, yes! Selina would be seen as thief. I like the Scarecrow too he could be worked in. How about if Black Mask uses him and his toxin to give himself full control over the The False Face Society?

Some good ideas there Alex Logan. I was a bit turned off when I read that Black Mask would hold the city ransom with a nuke, but I did like a lot of the other things I read.

Thanks!

Yeah that's really the only part I'm not too sure about. When I was woking up the story I knew I needed something along those lines for the climax, but a nuke maybe the wrong way to go.

Don't get me wrong, it could work, and I'm sure it would be thrilling. I'm just a bit over the city for ransom climax.

well what if it was not in t heart of te city but at an important world location, like an archive or lab of somekind?, yeah your avvy looks like the armor of a guy tom criuse killed in that movie

I think mr.freeze, riddler, and catwoman would be the best characters to bring to life in the last movie.

I'll work on it some, thanks for the ideas man! Yeah, kinda does. :yay:

As much as I'd like to see those Freeze and Riddler, I don't think they REALLY fit into the "Crime Epic".

Alot of your ideas are similar to my ideas on how the 3rd films story should go and which characters to introduce and use.

The nickname "Penguin" should be used as an underworld inside joke because Cobblepot would like a Penguin physically. That's why Bob Hoskins would be perfect as Penguin in Nolans' more "realistic" Bat world.
