This director sounds like he doesnt have a clue!! He calls cgi 3D and says there will be little characterisation. Oh my god, why marvel, i waited 3 years for this ****!!!

He didn;t say it would have little characterization he said they don't need to spend time presenting the characters which i think means letting everyone know who they are as we already know so the adventure can be on from the get go

Louis Leterrier to Direct Marvel Studios' the Incredible Hulk
Thursday July 20, 9:02 am ET

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 2006--Continuing its strategy to independently develop and produce a new slate of feature films, Marvel Studios - a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: MVL - News) - has signed top rising director Louis Leterrier to direct a new big screen adaptation of The Incredible Hulk, based on the legendary Marvel Super Hero. The announcement was made today by Michael Helfant, President/COO of Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige, President of Production for Marvel Studios.

Leterrier recently directed Transporter 2, which opened at the top of the box office earlier this year, as well as the critically-acclaimed Unleashed, starring Jet Li, Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins.

The Incredible Hulk will return to the roots of the long-running comic series, combining a well-developed character storyline with incredible action and fun. Zak Penn, who previously collaborated with Marvel on X2 and this summer's smash hit X-Men: The Last Stand, is writing the script. The project is being produced by Avi Arad, Kevin Feige and Gale Ann Hurd and will be executive produced by Michael Helfant and Ari Arad. Marvel Studios will begin casting immediately. No release date has been set.

"Leterrier has a tremendous passion for this genre and shares our vision for the new direction of the Incredible Hulk franchise, one of the gems of the Marvel Universe," said Kevin Feige. "We are very excited to be working with such a talented director to bring one of our pre-eminent Super Hero franchises back to the big screen, and we are certain that he will bring the Hulk to life in a way that will appeal to a mass audience as well as the core Super Hero fan base."

Leterrier will be formally introduced during a Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con International on Saturday, July 22.

Universal will distribute the Incredible Hulk domestically and in various international territories. This project, the second feature film to be produced independently by Marvel Entertainment, is expected to be financed through Marvel's $525 million revolving film financing facility.

This guy sounds alright I guess. Its too bad they'll probably ditch CG Hulk though.

exactly, people need to calm down IMO. Marvel could have done alot worse than this.

Theyll probably keep hulk at a good height so they can put a guy in a suit and film all the backs and minisucle appeareances(like an arm or leg and some hair) and cgi hulk for the frontal and actions. And keyword is suit. It wont be some guy painted green, its gonna be a guy in a huge suit.

They're not ditching CGI. They're mixing it with animatronics, and probably man-in-suit during some transformation scenes and close up's. It'll be CGI for any major action sequences. Zak already said this.

I'm glad Gale Anne hurd has stayed onboard, she has a good record in producing good action movies that take time with characters, etc.

I liked that article until it called X3 a 'smash-hit', it was more like a smash-hit in the balls!!

There's no need to go through the whole origin process again. That's what he meant by "presentation". We all know who The Hulk is. We just wanna know where he's been since the first film. Some of you need to calm down. Every damn hero board has some thread about people being worried, concerned, or angry. Let the damn film develop. The dude has a great sense for action sequences and he's got a very cool style suitable for The Hulk. Unleashed is a great representation of how Louis can deal with the dark side of The Hulk, and the Trasnporter series shows how he can do some great action scenes and direct a film in a way to make a total unknown into an action superstar. T2 wasn't nearly as good. Too overobard but that's the style The Hulk needs.

WOW! WOW! WOW!!!

lets not bad mouth the greatness that is T2 :D

Interesting, the press release makes no mention of it being a sequel. Sounds like the announcement of a new film unrelated to any previous, including "begin casting immediately". Reads like a restart to me. Though I guess they could be trying to distance the film from the first in the minds of the public and the media. Just using the first film as some loose character introduction so this film isn't bogged down by origin. Or they are just wording it so vague(via omission) so they can keep a hold of the fans of the first, while attracting those that were dissastisfied.

I doubt Yuen will be on this,he was on Unleashed and Transporter b/c Besson is a fan,i think Lettier will do his own action on TIH

I think the thing that will confirm whether this will suck or be good is whether or not Bana returns. If Bana does not return, i think we can count on this being poor personally.
