Incredible Hulk director has been picked!

This director did a stunning job with Trasnporter and Danny Boy. Danny Boy was kind of weird but that's the material, and yeah T2 was over the top ridiculous at times but...he directed the material fine. They guy has the right style for this film. The Hulk gives him the best material for his style. I'd rather see him doing this than Iron Man.

I'd say he's far from perfect,His action is not that great and was all directed for him by Corey Yuen and there is little to no character work in any of his films save a small 25 minutes in the middle of Unleashed

I'm not sure how I feel about the new director's vision...

Well, Unleashed ruled so my expectations are rising up a bit. But i'm not 100%sold on the this thing yet.

I think it says a lot about Marvel when they take the Hulk franchise away from the director of Crouching Tiger and Brokeback Mountain and hand it to the director of the Transporter. :(

I'll be happy if,

1. Hulk isn't pink. (lol. Pink Hulk)

2. This guy can make a really good movie that gets better reviews and stuff.

3. I like it.

4. It's NOT all light hearted and kiddy.

5. Hulk is amazing.

I'm pretty excited...as long as I hear the key phrase of "back to the roots"...sure, I thought Hulk was awesome...but there were some moments when I thought that the drama was a little overpowering of...well, the Hulk...and I would kind of like to do away with the greek tragedy angle...

Zak Penn will be fine. X3 wasn't COMPLETELY his fault. Fox is the main reason that movie was such a travesty. I rather liked his script, besides how Phoenix and Cyke are treated in it.
How about Elektra, Behind Enemy Lines and Inspector Gadget then?

About remaking: As it apparently isn't a remake, but I feel it's gonna ignore the first film and pretend that it never happened. Or something like that. Only thing they should ignore from the Ang Lee film is the origin (and the dogs :p). It was the only thing (besides the dogs) I hated about the film.

A) he knows how to get the right people for his movie (I mean god, he got TWO Yuen brothers, both Corey Yuen and Yu-woo-ping, how can you beat that ???). I wouldn't say bad things about a guy who chooses these kind of people.

B) There is FAR more character development in Unleashed then there was in the first Hulk. While I am a fan of Ang Lee's hulk, he never got me to really care about his characters. While I truly got to feel sad about Danny in Unleashed and about his relation with Bob Hoskin, Morgan Freeman and that girl.

C) Unleashed had a great vision, unlike most action movies. It had style, way more than what you usually find on the market. It also helps that the action was brutal and fast, exactly what Hulk needs, imo.

I'm no fan of the transporters movies. I liked them for what they were, over the top action movies. Plus, Jason Statham really helped. Both him and Jet Li were great choices, and very well used. If these actors are any indication, I trust Terrier for Banner and co.

We'll see, I guess. But i'm surprised some people are so doubtful. With Unleashed, Terrier brough one of the most brutal and dramatic (and stylistic) action movie we had last year. That movie alone shows great potential for the incredible hulk.

I'm sure it'll be fine, though I remember one of the avi's mentioning something about shrinking the Hulk down a bit for the sequel. What the hell are they talking about?! If anything make The Hulk even bigger!! :doom:
Bring on the chaos & action!!

I agree with Arad. The hulk is better when he is bigger than a human, but not THAT big. By that I mean, he was great in the movie, the bigger he got, the farter away they went from his humanity, imo.

well i like the fact they made him a behemoth ( like in the classic comics). I mean, he supposed to be the strongest being on the planet.

Put me on the wait and see list. I am a bit skeptical.

It doesn't seem as if Marvel is out to make you, the average fan, happy in this case. They seem to abhor the dark nature the Hulk has always had, shrink him down to a less-than-larger than life size and has now hired someone with an uninspiring track record.

Thank you Marvel. It now looks like "The Incredible Hulk" will follow "The Fantastic Four" in 'movies that worked well in the drawing boards'.

I hope so.

me too.

This is good news, the transporter were decent action films but thats all they were. But Unleashed was a great film so im quite excited to see what this guy has in store for the hulk.

I thought the Hulk got too big in my opinion, i personally thought she should've stayed at the size he was when he first transformed. a 15 foot tall hulk is not cool in my opinion!!

He should be as big as he was in The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction.

9-10 feet tall. I like how you're taller than humans and you can grab them with one hand no problem.

Hum guys, if you don't like the Transporter movies, that's fine (I haven't seen much of them) BUT keep in mind they're poor films because being written/produced by that hack Luc Besson.
Leterrier is just one of his yes-men and you should only focus on his directing skills and ability to choregraph action.

I consider Leterrier another Tim Story a capable guy that'll do what is expected from him and the film will be as good as the shooting script, simple as that.

be nice if Bana & the rest of the whole staff came back but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed. :spidey:

I'd be happy with Bana and Sam Elliott. :)

Marvel is so eager to please with this film. They realise that, all artistic debate aside, they missed a tremendous opportunity for a frachise potentially even bigger than Spiderman with the first film. So they are willing to do ANYTHING with this film to give the people what they want. I think this is why we have gotten so many mixed messages.
They are trying to distance this film as much as possible from the first in the publics mind "Its a do-over."
"So its a remake? After only 3 years?"
"Well no...its a change of tone."
Lots of people liked the TV series. So they are going to try and make it similar to that. But then Arad says its going to be more like the comic book cos thats what people want. Lots of people thought the first one was too serious. So this is going to be "Diet Hulk" With more action like people wanted from the first one. But they are basing it on a run from the comic in which the Hulk hardly showed up.
I think this is gonna go down pretty much like X3 but with a smaller budget.
Short running time.
Light on characterisation. More cat and mouse stuff with Banner to save money on Hulk screentime yet not have people bored when hes not onscreen. More than a few oneliners. Pretty forgettable.

I just hope there is no martial arts in the action sequences.
LOL
Can you imagine Hulk karate chopping the Abomination.IT's HULK-FU!!!!

No Bana. I'd like someone far more nerdy and weak for Banner. Bana just couldn't pass as a nerd of any type and he just looked silly trying. I personally hated Lee's vision for Hulk and I really hated the King Kong like stature he put in the movie. Going back to the roots is a good thing and as long as this guys action tastes are reigned in somewhat I think it'll be a great movie. Some of the stuff he threw into the transporter was just stupid.

Considering that X3 and the Daredevil DC are BETTER movies then War of the Worlds, Munich and King Kong, that's a step down.
