Yep. And she looks more like a secret agent government woman than Maika Monroe. If they wanted Maika Monroe as the love interest for Hemsworth, why not just make her a separate character, and keep Mae Whitman as the ex-president's daughter? It's not like they had a limit on the number of characters they could have in this movie. But even Whitman could've still been the love interest herself. I think it would've been really cool to have her too.

It would almost be like if there were a True Lies sequel and having young Eliza Dushku's character replaced with a different actress now. Of course, people see Eliza as hot now so they would still get her, but still a similar principle.

Plus they went through all the trouble of getting EVERYONE else back. Including Judd Hirsch (what he's going to do here is anyone's guess), Vivica A. Fox (who's big thing in the first movie was being the now-absent Big Willy's GF), and Brent Spiner (who's character DIED in the first movie).

But no, we've got to recast Mae Whitman, for some reasons. It's not a dealbreaker, but it is rather dumb.

Well they didn't get absolutely everyone back. What happened to Jeff Goldblum's character's ex-wife? It seemed they patched things up at the end of the first movie. And what about the sons of Randy Quaid?

The difference of course is that they're just simply not in the movie (along with Big Willy and Adam Baldwin). It's not a case of bringing the same character from the first film back, but then recasting them for some inexplicable reason (especially when every other character from the first film that's back is played by the same actor/actress. Well except for Vivica A. Fox's kid, but the original guy is no longer acting, so he has an excuse).

Put your glasses on chief.
Neck wrinkles! 2/10 - would not bang

lol late response.

I still stand by my point that was a bad picture.

She's very attractive but that pic is bad. The one at the top of the page is better.

First Independence Day: Resurgence Trailer Could Hit Theaters On Independence Day

If you’ve been holding off seeing Terminator: Genisys, you may have an added incentive to make the trek to theaters on July 4. According to some reports, a short first teaser trailer for the newly titled Independence Day: Resurgence will play before Genisys screenings this weekend. Here’s the catch, this will happen only on July 4.

AICN was the first to report this, though Slashfilm later contacted an AMC theater and were also told that this is happening. It’s pretty early in the going, as Independence Day: Resurgence isn’t slated to hit theaters for just under a year, but with the holiday, it’s perfect timing to do something. The biggest question is, what exactly will you see? And is it worth a trip to the theater, especially if you’ve already seen the latest Terminator movie? It’s also strange that the studio wouldn’t make a bigger deal out of this.

Still not enough to make me even consider watching TG in theaters. Hell a trailer in front of something is not enough to make me see any specific movie. It'll be on YouTube soon enough

Teaser will probably be Jeff Goldblum doing a voice over while shots of earth and new mothership then the title, followed by "2016"

that would be pretty cool, even if they do not get David Arnold back for the score they should at least use his themes and make new music.

Just wanted to drop by this thread to say that almost 20 years later the original ID4 is still one of the best damn films ever made. I know it sounds like hyperbole but I truly do feel like Emmerich crafted THE quintessential blockbuster film. This movie just has everything in it: incredible set pieces, great suspense, a fun plot and most of all: a charming, loveable ensemble cast that you fall in love and root for. This movie gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it. Many have tried to mimic it but ID4 is one of a kind. :)

I just re watched it and I forgot how much I LOVED the film. One of the things I loved was how much practical FX they used like with the blowing up of the White House and other major cities, the fighter planes, the alien ships etc. Oh and the EXO Alien is still one of the best creature FX in recent film history :awesome:.

To all the people whining about Mae Whitman, it could technically be better for her career in the long run that she's NOT in this movie.

Yeah, yall whiners act like message boards are for discussing things or something.

What if the film is a big hit like the original?

Caught the new trailer today on Terminator, people at first were like, "they're showing a Spy trailer?" Then the feed started.

You may be right but it's still an issue that she wasn't even considered.
