The organs are there, it's just softer.

I agree, I liked the blaring organs and am a little bummed that it's not in there, but the released track is still quite good.

Yeah I can hear the organ but it doesn't have the power of the film version either, nor the slight choir as well. The fan-made version of it I downloaded sounds better to be honest.

Saw it a second time last night at the Lincoln Square IMAX (such an amazingly huge screen). I have to say I think my appreciation for the movie went up on the second viewing. All the emotional bits hit me harder this time with my head entirely around the story. Any the lingering plot related questions and reservations I had all checked out. I even was able to hear through the sound mix better. It's really a striking contrast between the deafening loud bits and absolute silence. It's the insane amount of bass that competes with the dialogue (I mean my seat was literally shaking), but it's not like my sound system at home will ever be able to compete with that. It took me out of it on the first viewing because I was trying to follow the story, but this time I was able to just go along for the ride.

I really have no negative takeaways from the second viewing. The exposition is no more or less clunky than it's been in the past, so it's pretty much par for the course Nolan there. Tbh I think it does a pretty good job streamlining everything considering the subject amtter. It being such a long and weighty movie and one that is probably best experienced on the biggest screen, I'm not sure this will be a movie I watch terribly often. But there are a ton of great films that fit into that same category. This will definitely one I fondly remember the experience of seeing on IMAX though. There are some truly unforgettable images in this film.

Also, I just love Cooper and TARS as a duo.

The sound issue has to be one of the biggest film exaggerations of the year. If it was the original sound mix issue everybody would have been having at least some bad issues. I'm not even BSing but in my LieMAX I genuinely got every word and any I didn't wasn't because of overbearing music.

That is the problem with using your own experience to make broad generalizations. You think because it did not happen to you, the problem does not exist or is being "exaggerated". A rough statistical analyses will show that 60-70% of people here and at other sites report sound problems to some degree. Also, the fact that a theater went to the trouble of printing up those signs, is a pretty big indicator of an actual problem.

Just read the novelization and it was pretty damn good. Also, for any of you who were confused by that article where Jonah Nolan was (very clearly if you read the whole thing)referring to the older version of the script where the

wormhole was closed at the end... If the way the film presents the story(where it is obvious the wormhole is still there, otherwise THE. ENDING. DOES. NOT. WORK!) wasn't enough to convince you the wormhole is still there, the novelization(based on Chris's version of the script) specifically mentions that THE WORMHOLE IS STILL THERE and that with the newer, more advanced Rangers, Cooper will easily be able to make it to Edmund's world in almost no time. The only reason the rest of humanity had not yet traveled through the wormhole to Edmund's world is that they considered the mission a failure and believed none of the worlds explored by the Endurance crew were viable. Amelia had only just arrived on Edmund's world and the rest of humanity had not yet received her signal.

Finally saw the film, and I am absolutely blown away. I've never liked space settings, but this was one of the best movies I've ever seen. Call me a Nolanite if you like, but I'd be lying if I said the man hasn't made some of my favorite movies ever.

I'm still taking it all in, so I won't delve into the details, but everything seemed so on point for me. It was one of the best experiences I've had at an IMAX theater. I haven't been reading much on Interstellar but I do see that it got a mixed reaction...

Anyone care to give me a quick run-down of why it's seen as one of Nolan's lesser outings? I was so enthralled that I couldn't identify any significant flaws, but I would like to know what everyone else thinks. I trust you guys to give me an honest assessment.

The acting, craftsmanship, ambition, soundtrack, and emotion are enough by themselves to make this movie 80%-90% on RT. Scratching my head at why it's getting such a mixed reception.

Yea I was probably too conservative in my post - Interstellar should comfortably top $150m. Still, I'm happy the film is doing well internationally.

It seems to be owning the weekdays while being usurped over the weekend. It was ahead of Dumb and Dumber To and Big Hero 6 all week. It even won Tuesday.

3, 4 years ago Interstellar goes over 200 million domestic rather easily. North Americans are spending less and less on the cinema experience while people overseas seem to be spending more.
