It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's the Superman Costume Thread!

One could use the suit that the superman from smallvilles season 11 is wearing for a collage of all the supermans together. Technically it's not live action, but I think Tom spellings character should be apart of the history of superman. However with that said, I'm really thinking man of steel is going to be what I always wanted from smallville. A great origin of superman tha has some romance in it but isnot dragged down by the romance. I want to see. Superman and not just a shirt rip!

I was not sure where to post theses, but I found these on on deviantART, and thought you guys and girls might want too see them. They were made by Chris-V981/Victory-prime.

Nah, he never wore anything. They did exactly 2 close-ups of him, neck up, and CGI'd a cape in the background, then had extreme wide shots of the SR videogame Superman and then (for the final shot) had Tom rip his shirt to reveal the S and the blue top of the suit, but that was more the Reeve than the Routh suit.

They did feature the SR suit throughout the 10th season, though, while it was "trapped" in the FoS. You're right in that regard.

Did they really use the sr video game for wide shots? Must've looked terrible. Any screen caps of that?

Darkseid was a cop out too wasn't he?

Really thankful that didn't watch past season 3...

Yeah, he possessed Lionel's corpse and Clark flew and punched through him. Terrible, terrible conclusion to an uneven series.

I don't know if it's from the game, but looks like it

One thing which confused me about the costume in the Smallville finale, was that there appeared to be two different 'S's'. This one looks almost like its rubber, and the red is far more raised then the yellow, theres a real dip into the shield.

But in the final shot (and when it is raised from the ground, entombed in ice) it's definitely the Superman Returns shield.

Obviously its a minor detail, but it still seems strange and confuses the hell out of me.

Anyways to bring this back to MoS, the most crucial element to the costume is the shield, if it's botched then you can forget about the rest of the costume, no matter how well done it is. I think MoS's shield is the best live action one I've ever seen. All the cloth-based shield's (Chris Reeves', Dean Cains' etc) seem to distort the S, they're not particularly strong 'S's. I'm just so relieved this new version of Supes seems to have gotten it right costume wise, and I can't wait to see it in action.

They were using some of the rejected Returns suits I believe.

Seems kinda cheap. Or dumb. Didnt the show use the classic symbol in their marketing?

Glass jaw, I'm pretty sure those are the same, but the lighting makes it look flatter when he's actually wearing it

They did, but Tom Welling never wore it. Everything they needed the Superman Returns suit for was filmed during the filming of the first few episodes. Welling said at SDCC 2010 that he never even go to see the suit, before it left.

I love the costume but one thing has been bugging me. How will they address the "wrist plate" seam? I hope it snaps shut when the cameras start rolling but it's like this in all the shots i've seen. I find it looks kinda cheap like a halloween costume of itself.

Eh, the slits don't bug me. They're cuffs.

I'll say I really don't mind all the plastic detailing around the middle of the costume's torso, without the pants it breaks it up nicely, but I could do without them on the cuffs. I think the blue of the costume going up to his wrists would look stronger in a classic Superman-with-his-arms-folded pose (for example). Still that's about all I can pick apart from the costume, I can't wait to see it in action.

You people are lost! The suit is alien ,It supose to look a little strange. It wasn't made on earth. It was made on krypton.

I still hate the muted colors. And while I like the Earth 2 emblem, it does look a little fat.

It's not going to look that washed out on film.

Lest we forget...

Nothing beats the classics. But, changing times, changing times...

If they can't/won't bring back the classic costume, I hope they adapt the "Man of Steel" movie costume into the comics.
