James Bond In Skyfall - - - - Part 13

I'd say YOLT is when Connery's film start to hurt bad.

I like Thunderball better then Goldfinger. The underwater scenes definitely go on to long and aren't very interesting, but the rest of the films works very well. It is the event film Goldfinger could have been. It is Bond doing real work, not unlike the Craig films.

FRWL is my favorite Connery film, and definitely in my top 3 alongside Casino Royale and Skyfall. My appreciation for Dr. No is definitely growing.

Dr. No is one of those films when I first saw it I thought it was good but with each and every time I see it I seem to enjoy it a little more. I like it so much now I even consider it in my top 3 or 4 Bond films. It seemed to have something that a lot of the other films didn't have, its hard to explain it might have something to do with Connery's performance being a little more serious I think and the film itself kinda has a mystery feel to it. Dr. No is a great villain too. I feel Thunderball is when Connery's started to slip but YOLT is when it was more apparent.

The Man with the Golden Gun is definitely different, even if it isn't good. Moonraker on the other hand is a good example of the formula being followed to the letter.

I saw part of it on TV the other day and boy is that a bad film. Only positive is Britt Eckland in a bikini, hot even by today's standards. t:

I've gone on many rants saying why I thought the Man With The Golden Gun is the worst Bond movie. In short, it's boring.

Without doubt, it's a film where nothing happens. And the theme song is possibly the worst title song of all, maybe tied with DAD.

It looked as though the only person that wanted to be making this movie was Christopher Lee. Roger Moore looked more bored MWTGG than Connery ever did in a Bond movie.

And it was just so poorly made, even by 70's standards the design of the film was appalling.

I was just lucky that during my marathon The Spy Who Loved Me was the next movie. I don't think I could handle MTWGG and then Moonraker. It was rough getting through Octopussy and then A View to a Kill and then going through the post Goldeneye Brosnan movies.

Man, in that period from 73-89 there where at best 3 really good Bond films. Depressing.

I would like to see Bond take apart the Quantum organization in his last two Bond films or atleast expose the ring leaders.

I would like to see Quantum return again as well. Them resurfacing after a period of time would be pretty cool. There's nothing wrong with Quantum as an organisation. CR and SF are better but elements associated with QoS aren't toxic.

They just cranked out the movies every 2 to 3 years and stuck to a formulaic routine

-Pre title
-Bond meet M at the office
-Bond sets off on adventure
-Bond encounters resistance from goons
*Insert spectacular stunt sequence*

If you could delete bond movies from history you could delete half of them like "Diamonds are forever"

Most people remember the stunts rather than the movie itself

Octopussy is right down there with TMWTGG on my film list. It is a very boring movie that has never grown on me. The Tarzan swing all the way to the climax with Bond dressed as a clown pretty much represents what most of the Moore era was. I don't rank AVTAK super high but it is a pretty entertaining film even if it is kind of a remake of Goldfinger. Walken is great like always. Post Goldeneye is rough too. Never liked Tomorrow, TWINE is good not great (I like the Elektra character and M's role), DAD is complete garbage ("who sent you?" "Your Mama" ).

I think if you look at Skyfall it brought back a lot of the Bond traditions and conventions though with a twist.

So maybe we can expect more of that in the next movie.

However, I would like it if it would actually start with the gun barrel sequence instead of end with it like Quantum of Solace and Skyfall.

I third this. I love the idea of a new organization kind of equal to SPECTRE. Maybe recast Guy Haines (the supposed head of Quantum) and have Mr. White return for a final showdown with Bond.

Does Skyfall feel like it's a TDK rip off? It didn't to me. Sure I saw the inspiration Mendes has been very open about, but it's hardly a rip off!

At the time people did not see it that way. Most of those movies did well at the box office and Roger Moore was a popular Bond. Those movies may not have aged well but they worked at the time.

Skyfall definitely on track for $300 million domestic. It will be the first Bond movie to do so. Hard to believe a Bond movie performed better than a Spider-Man movie same year of release.

I don't like TWINE. The first half was good, but it takes a nosedive once Denise Richards comes in and I didn't like Renard was portrayed after the reveal.

Octopussy is a movie that could have been good but too many stupid elements and questionable writing decisions were made in addition it trying to hard to be like Indiana Jones.

A View to a Kill is bad to me, but it's still pretty entertaining. Despite his age, I still think Roger Moore still had the Charisma to play Bond, but once again, his age was a problem.

I hope these are the routes they go with Bond. I kinda want a Thunberball like movie where the whole world is actually in trouble and Bond has to save it. We've yet to have Bond face an immediate threat to the whole world.

Here's what I want:

- An immediate threat
- A snow scene
- Bond in the woods (maybe in snow) or the jungle
- Bond vs. Quantum
- An army or a group of guys helping Bond in a huge battle in the end (haven't had that in along time)
