-For Your eyes only

That's really all Moore's run should have consisted of.

Bah lame it didn't get more for such a great acclaimed movie. Sorry guys but Academy Awards are still a joke.

Perks of Being a Wallflower doesn't get recognized for best adapted screenplay for example.

Tired of this stupid clique-y popularity contest.

Perks wasn't that good, and I wouldn't put it over any of the movies nominated for best adapted Screenplay.

Yep.

The Academy is made up of old white men so you know what type films they go for and its not Perks of Being A Wallflower which I really liked but am not surprised to see it didn't nominated.

Octopussy herself was the best of Moore's Bond girls IMO

Then how come these old white men aren't getting around Bond :cmad:

BTW we still haven't heard anything about the next Bond film. Makes me think hey won't meet the 2014 deadline and they'll (wisely) wait till 2015 (Despite the crowded year.) I also have a prediction about 2015: WB will push back Justice League to 2016.

Bond movies typically don't take that long to shoot. Skyfall was shot in early 2012 and came out at the end of 2012. So they can start shooting Bond 24 at the beginning of 2014 and still have it ready for November that year- when they typically come out. That gives them the entire 2013 to write and do pre-production....

Old white guys that don't go to the movies.

****ing Pirates: Band of Misfits got best animated feature nomination instead of Rise of the Guardians. A joke.

Reminds of when Surf's Up got nominated over The Simpsons movie for Best Animated feature.

But in this day and age, with modern Hollywood, it's better to take some time to work on each installment to make quality work instead of making a mandate or an obligation.

Maybe they'll do a good job if they can make it in 2014, but it depends on the script, and the director. If not, we'll end up with junk like the lesser Brosnan movies again.

They could have stretched the Best Picture category to 10 films and given Skyfall a nom. When they first extended the BP category they went from 5 to 10 films but ever since its been 9 films which is strange.

They have the option to nominate up to 10 if they feel like 10 films have indeed warranted the nomination. This year they only felt 8 did.

I'm prefer possibly up to 10 rather than there must be 10.

He's fine and he's slightly better than David Arnold, who gets weird love here. His only score that I liked was Casino Royale's, but the rest are generic stuff.

He may have been slacking on some of Brosnan's stuff (DAD for example), but QoS is his masterpiece. Newman was great, and composed one of my favorite cues of the year (Jellyfish), but with time could be as good as Arnold.

I think it just comes down to Arnold not putting enough of the theme in his scores until CR. I love hearing the instrumental of the chorus in the score.

Huh? He did have a theme in TND, but they cut it for the used version, not KD lang's theme. Newman didn't even have the theme in his, except for one cue.

actually there is just a 5% restriction which rules out those who wont make the cut. So it just happend to be that the 10th picture didnt have enough votes to cross that barrier.

Yes I know they have the option. Also this year they nominated 9 films not 8 and I'm saying they should have made it 10 and put Skyfall in there as well, it would have been nice...

It's understandable for you as a bond fan to feel that way. However the academy votes on films based on the merit of the film itself and not it's role in a franchise etc.

If one was to look at skyfall as simply a film aside from it's james bond connections i wouldn't feel it was a best picture caliber film.

Very true. Now that time has passed, I must agree that QoS is my favorite post-Barry score.

Skyfall is my favourite modern Bond score, with Goldeneye coming in second.

Partially agreeing with Catawayfan.

It's SF & CR for me.
