James Bond In Skyfall - - - - Part 13

Once again I must agree wholeheartedly with Anne.
I prefer Newman's score over Serra because it retains a more Barryish elegance, ala ‘Komodo Dragon’ and ‘The Chimera’, but still manages to have the atmospheric, introspective material that Goldeneye has ('Fatal Weakness') with stuff like 'Modigliani' and 'Someone Usually Dies' to name a few. I admire Serra's Goldeneye though because it really did provide the series with a new unique sound - 'The Overture', 'The Antenna', 'Run, Shoot and Jump' and Whispering Statues' for example I like.

Bond movies typically don't take that long to shoot. Skyfall was shot in early 2012 and came out at the end of 2012. So they can start shooting Bond 24 at the beginning of 2014 and still have it ready for November that year- when they typically come out. That gives them the entire 2013 to write and do pre-production....

Skyfall started filming in early November 2011 and went throught to the end of May 2012.

Ah, the soundtracks... well, I very much like TND, CR & QOS. Never understood all the Arnold hate.

I was watching DAD yesterday, and boy it's even worse than i remember. Even the pre-title scene, which i actually like, seemed horrible. :(

He's farely pedestrian to me. Except for CR, I was just never into the music of Arnold's like I was John Barry, George Martin, or Tom Newman.

Skyfall would have been a good movie for brosnans bond. His bond was experienced already.

Skyfall for Craig felt too early. It was only 6 years ago this bond started

Sure, the winded and aging warrior may not work as well if you only limit Bond's career to Craig's tenure, but if you take it less literally and imagine Bond not as a character, but an Icon that has endured fifty years of cinema, it suddenly morphs into the profound. Skyfall would never have been as good as it was without it's half a century of cinematic baggage, good and bad.

Nor would it have been as good with Pierce Brosnan's wood-with-brill-cream approach to the lead role.

Serra was horrible. He mostly copied and pasted his score for Leon onto GE. That industrial clanging and banging in particular.

As for Newman, I dint think his score is Oscar worthy. Arnold's work on CR, QoS and TND wipes the floor with Newman's score and if ever there was a Bond score to won an Oscar, it should have been for OHMSS!

Rumor has it all six Bond actors could be at this year's Academy Awards, hope it happens.

Yeah. SF and GE's soundtracks fit their respective film's atmospheres like gloves. CR and QoS are Arnold's best works and there are highlights, 'African Rundown', 'City of Lovers', 'Time to Get Out' and 'Night at the Opera'. His work is inoffensive but I feel other composers have done more interesting things. Newman is my clear favourite. An Oscar nomination and the highest charting Bond album in 27 years to top it off.

Fingers crossed.

I wonder how long within the movie-verse he's been a 00? 00's seem to go from one high risk mission to another, so i wouldn't be surprised if the time between CR and Skyfall was relatively short. Then again, M did say to him "You've been in the game long enough.." or something to that effect, so who knows...

Both of these, I agree wholeheartedly.

I always imagined the life of a 00 to be relatively short. And if they don't die during a mission, they tend to move on to less dangerous field work. Both of these would make James Bond an anomaly more than he already is.

Supposedly five have already accepted the invitation. Connery is the holdout.

I can already hear the announcer for the 50th anniversary moment when all 6 bond actors walk out on stage!

Announcer- Please welcome, Sir Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Sir Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig

*James Bond theme plays*

*Everyone stands up from their seats and applauds*

*Transition to commercials*

I think they should do it in reverse. Daniel first and Sean last. That's a great way to build-up each Bond coming out, and finish with arguably the most iconic Bond.

Um, the Academy have stated that there aren't any plans for the 6 actors to take centre stage at the oscars.

Can you repeat this in understandable English?

That's utter nonsens. He was already Bond before the events of CR, he only just got promoted.

Brosnan's tenure lasted 7 years, Craig's at least 8, in case you didn't notice.
