Saw the news from other day about heniken being in skyfall. I hope it doesn't mean we won't have bond get a martini still too. Also saw the continued rumor of adele possibly doing theme. If she does can't wait to hear the song.

Adele doing the bond theme? Where did you see that rumour?

My top 2 Connery Bond films are also FRWL and GF and as of yesterday, I'm considering placing TB above Dr. No.

And Parker Wayne, I agree with everything you said as a reply to my post. John Barry definitely wrote a badass underwater theme for TB, though.

I agree. John Barry's scores are all excellent.

Here's my Connery list:

1. From Russia With Love
2. Goldfinger
3. Thunderball
4. You Only Live Twice
5. Dr. No
6. Diamonds are Forever

I don't even acknowledge Never Say Never Again.

I can't really deside what I'm more disappointed with, You only live twice or Diamonds are Forever I think it was because both in their own ways were meant to follow on from On her majesty's secret service and neither delivered.

YOLT I liked originally but in hindsight it just seems like a wasted opportunity, the Novel was so much better than what we got.
And DAF was the return of Connery, following up a great story that should have left Bond in a interesting place for the filmmakers to use, but the campy tone just killed it.
From what I've heard ChickenScratch say over the years (days for me, I've been reading those threads 2 days straight, I'm THAT bored), though, the movies completely messed up the novels in every possible way, including the chronologies. So, that the YOLT movie was only superficially similar to the book must have been expected, no?
Yup, pretty much. There is one ongoing narrative that essentially starts with Ian (though in story it starts with Higson's YB) and goes all the way up to about 94 when Gardner left. What the movies basically did was take these, do them out of order, take pit the stuff that leads from one story into the next and basically freeze the character to one point in his career.
Yeah it's not so much that I dislike the film itself (Pleasence is my fav Blofeld), it's just that after reading the book, which is really an extremely personal revenge story, the film doesn't really measure up to the novel it was based on.

It's not like the novel, but I still feel that You Only Live Twice was still a fun movie. Personally, it's the most beautiful looking Bond movie and despite the campy tone (which I admit hurt the movie along with Blofeld), I enjoyed it. It's not the novel by no means, and I do wish some elements of the novel would be used for future Bond movies.

I think DAF is decidedly worse than YOLT. YOLT is still a well shot film (mostly) and, despite its silliniess, it has elements that make it a classic. DAF has absolutely nothing.

Like I said, it's the most beautifully shot film. Lewis Gilbert made the two best looking Bond movies in my opinion in that and The Spy Who Loved Me. The Egypt scenes in that movie are stunningly beautiful.

Its been rumored for awhile, and I saw a news story this morning on it. Sorry I don't have link off hand.

The rumour Of Adele doing the theme goes back to about last year October on the Jonathan Ross show.

Cool.... i think her voice could be rather suited for a Bond theme song

I only brought it up since as I said saw a new story reguarding the rumor.

Adele or Muse are my picks for who should do the theme.

Yeah, same here. I think Adele would be perfect given that they seem to be going back to the Connery era and paying tribute to it in a way. Adele's voice sounds very 60's too. But still modern.

Either would be fine for me too, also would mind kings of leon, didn't craig mention once he liked them.

I hate how the press report these things. Sensationalise it like "Bond ditches martini for Heineken". Heineken is just another company on board with the Bond brand. I'm positive the martini will be in. We had a clapperboard of martini glasses early on as well.

I see nobody's excited about the Greek actress getting cast, and with good reason. She's not very good, thank God her part is small.:oldrazz:

The info she gave away is interesting, though. Her ignorance about Bond and Greek actors is also very interesting. Well, not really.

I agree with that list, but Dr. No sometimes gets to spot #4. It's interchangeable, though. Why would you acknowledge NSNA? Watched it yesterday and although Connery was in better shape than in YOLT and DAF, that movie was a weird mess.

And Barry's OHMSS is second to none. Glad Arnold paid sort of a tribute to it in QoS, its main theme is fantastic and very Barry-esque.

I tried to watch NSNA and it's just too...jarring to watch.

Go to the previous page. I posted full details on it before SHH did. I also posted a video interview with Bardem as well.

Oh, I saw your post. I used that as a basis for my little rant:yay:
