My french is GCSE level but I can make out alot of whats written

Why is he running around with that stupid gun again? The P99 was perfect.

With the union jack blowing in the background. God bless Great Britain!

The ppk is the most iconic hand gun in cinema history thanks to Bond and this being a milestone movie and a movie for the history books, it's only fitting for Bond to have his ppk in tow.

IF you are going to say "But it was in the original books" save it. It looks terrible. Nothing cool or intimidating about it. Casino Royale got it right. It is completely nonsensical to be running around with that purse gun in 2012.

The Man with No Name's Single Action Army and Colt Navy say hi. :woot:

It is fitting for what? To shoot woman and children? There was a reason they changed it and it was a very good reason. The baddies aren't going to run around with outdated weaponry.

The new Bond parody video says it all.

No, I'm not going with the "it was in the original books" argument, I'm going with the "I think it's a damn awesome and iconic looking gun" argument. :) ;)

How many people within the GA know of the action army and colt? I'm willing to bet more of them are familiar with the walther ppk. As for what it's fitting for, I was referring to the fact that SF marks 50 years since Dr.No which just so happens to be the film Bond begrudgingly is forced to adopt and use a ppk.

Deakins' work is going to be amazing in this film. That lighting creeping in behind a shadowy Bond looks amazing.

I couldn't care less about how functional and/or relevant the PPK is in real life. That's why James Bond is great fiction.

Translated.....

- The costume designer Jany Temine wants to modernize James Bond while retaining him an old school side (maybe like she did for the third Harry Potter?)
- The film will go in Scotland, in Shanghai, Turkey AND Macau
- A scene of "crash" would be expected for the sequence of the subway.
- The journalist witnessed the shooting of a scene: the arrival of James Bond in a floating casino in Macao (I think the dragons we saw on the picture of Pinewood come from this set)
- For the scene in the set with the glasses and the neon lights that we saw in the videos and the first official image, the idea is to multiply Bond's reflect. The designer wanted that decor reflected both the spirit of James Bond and what he saw. And here, Bond must appear as a character back from the dead.
- Sam Mendes promises they never pushed the character in such limits
- The scene of Macau: Bond leaves his hotel room and goes to the casino by boat (he is standing on the boat, dressed in a tuxedo). The boat passes between the two dragon heads and a firework is fired. The scene has a certain gravity and Mendes put a mysterious depth in it. The journalist said that the casino "looks like a kingdom of the dead"

- Mendes doesn't say "Bond girl" but "James Bond ladies"
- Jany Temine said that Berenice's character would be a "bad girl" so she wanted to dress her like a "femme fatale". But Berenice does not answer clearly to the question of which side belongs her character (she must be ambiguous, not completely bad)
- Sam Mendes loves Casino Royale and Daniel Craig, because for the first time since Connery, the character of Bond was no longer outside the action and the film wasn't ironic about the hero. He also learned the codes of the series and wants to bring things that has never been seen before.
- Mendes confirms the return of some iconic characters of the saga (so Q is not the only one). He also confirms he wants to bring more humor than in the last two movies. He wants to explore the roots of the MI6, as to make a loop with Dr No (probably for the 50th anniversary)
- And finally, Mendes reveals some thematics of SkyFall: what changed in fifty years? Should the MI6 evolve or stay as it was fifty years ago? Who are the new enemies of the XXI century? Who is Q : an inventor of gadgets that have become increasingly importants or a man who invents new ways to kill people?

So MI6 is pushed into a corner and James Bond will be confronted with such situations he has never experienced before, and that will force him to act differently.

Doctor Who is more like our Superman- they are both naturalized extra terrestrials. Although The Doctor is insane.

Great stuff Ajendo and yes I understood the article. Je parle francais. :awesome:

yeah I don't care for the PPK, I do like the PP9 and the PPS which he uses in Carte Blanche

This sounds and looks bad ass.

The PPK is a synonymous with Bond as a tuxedo or Aston Martin is. These films are about iconography, and the PPK is also easier to conceal.
