The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Jamie Foxx IS Electro - Part 4

Though I think that he won't actually refer to himself as the "goblin" in this film. It will just be "Harry," even when transformed.

Yeah, probably. I'm not expecting to see the official name until the credits. Sort of like how Venom wasn't ever actually called Venom until the credits of SM3.

Well Venom was a huge mistake. They should have easily had him say "we call ourselves Venom" or something like that. Oh well. :/

Just glad Electro actually has a villain name.

Ha, yeah. I'm just not sure how they'd introduce Goblin's name. It might help if he's using the globulin serum, like in SSM.

Might be through the media. Newspapers...TV...
Didn't that happen in TASM?

In addition to newspapers and other media, I think people just referred to Connors as "The Lizard," which makes sense. :)

I wouldn't necessarily be mad if they didn't refer to Harry as the Green Goblin, it just leaves the name there for Norman to grab later on.

I did Electro's voice, look, and powers. But am I the only one who gets a Schumaucher vibe off his origin and motivation? He falls in a vat of chemicals (or eels!) like Freeze and boom, he is ready to commit crime. And he idolizes Spider-Man...so he'll kill him now, like the Forever Riddler?

Still, think he could be fun.

Uh that's like comic book villain origins 101. A crazy fan turning against his idol? Happens all the time in the comics. Otherwise Electro's origin is pretty lame. He's some dude who got struck by lightning or shocked by some powerlines.

Any villain can sound dull with that much pessimism... :whatever:

His background is similar to Edward Nygma in Batman Forever, but that's about it. And he doesn't just start committing crime right of the bat...

And gladly that's not what happens in this movie.

Electro's suit is really growing on me...

I still think he could do WITHOUT the lightning bolts on the arm, but I guess that's just a preference of it just being an Oscorp suit; it's Electro, so it does make sense. Minor nitpick, but otherwise I've loved this suit since Day 1. Very much like Dane DeHaan, if you just showed me THIS photo first and told me it was Jamie Foxx knowing I didn't know who was cast, I would have never guessed it was him.

Seriously awesome look. I'm so morbidly excited for this film now, it's unhealthy. :hrt:

Well, technically, that does happen... and then he falls into the eel tank :woot:

But there's an Eel tank. Completely different species of Origin.

They need this guy in the Amazing Spiderman franchise. He came up with all the cool names :woot:

I think the Webb series will end with a sense of equilibrium, almost set up to the point of Raimi's first Spidey film, but with all that prior reboot story established - Gwen dying, etc. So by the end of film three we'd have Peter with MJ, Peter working at the Bugle and JJJ getting vocal about the wall crawler, etc.

It's almost as if TASM1-3 are the origin films, and once we get past that, we're at the point of where we were with Raimi's first Spider-Man film, as you said. Argh I'm so excited!
