It's the lack of eyebrows combined with the pale face. And in that shot the angle of his head hides his hair so he appears bald.

The teeth really sell it. Very grotesque.

    Yup, that's it.

Visually, Leto is my favorite Joker. Possibly ever.

He would probably be mine without the teeth and tats. I grew to love Heath's look, but at first I really wasn't a fan. It wasn't until I saw his take that I saw how his interpretation really meshed with his visual design.

Leto, sans the stupid thug get up, is the most comic accurate Mr.J that's been put to screen.

I think with the whole devil angle they're including with his character, and the just the look in general, he reminded instantly of Pazuzu from The Exorcist

Yeah, when he's in the tux, he looks more terrifying than when he's just walking around shirtless.

I definitely understand why people aren't feeling the tattoos and false teeth, but they work for me. Couldn't tell you why, but they do.

I'll be honest, while the whole Leto joker package (tats, grills, clothing, etc) is not something I ever hoped for or predicted for this version, I am absolutely loving it all at this point. From what I can tell, it all comes together really well.

He's everything The Joker should be. Creepy, gaudy, deranged, over-the-top, violent, unhinged, and a showman. A tattoo doesn't change or take away from any of that. And while the same people have gone on and on about how distracting the tattoos and grills are, how perfect his look would be if it didn't have those things, I disagree.

If you're talking about a strict adaptation/translation of The Joker's comic book appearance, then yes, it would be just about "perfect" and "comic accurate" without those things. However, in this case, I'm starting to actually feel that they add something to his whole aesthetic. It all just clicks, especially when seeing him in action. It's something that gives him a distinct, unique look compared to previous iterations, but overall, he's still very much "The Joker" we all know and love.

I agree. Then again I've always tended to find the "alternate" Joker looks to be more terrifying. Like mime-Jack Joker or nurse-Heath Joker (even though that was hilarious too). Something unsettling about seeing the clown dressed as something else.

I have a feeling the reason for that will be to help clarify all the different parts of his timeline we're going to see. But I'm all for it, I love seeing different looks for The Joker and the less pimped out Joker, the better.

Interesting. To me they still take away from the look. They feel like an attempt to be different for the sake of being different, as opposed to a look that meshes with the characterization (so much as I've seen). Heath's look made sense the more I saw of his take.

Leto, on the other hand, seems to be more and more classic comic Joker, so his performance thus far has actually made the tats and grills seem even more out of place for me.

Anyone notice in the shot of Joker baptizing Harley in the vats, her hair dye is soaking out?! difficult to tell whether this is a flashback or not, because people have assumed that the electro shock treatment was kind of Harley's creation.

Also Ike seems to be a prison guard, as he shocks Deadshot in one scene with a baton.

I don't know if he's "baptizing" her, or saving her, or trying to kill her, and then falls back on it?

It could go in so many ways, but I gotta say, it looks pretty cool. :woot:

Therapy sessions -> electroshock -> vats. It's not hair dye, it's blue and red shirts of Harleen and the Joker.

That's not hair dye. It's the colors of their shirts leaking out into the chemicals, which is strong enough to bleach both skin and cloth. Harley's shirt was blue, and Joker's was red.

it's cryptic really... and it's in a bunch of mountain dew! AMERICA'S ACID.

It pretty much feels like Harley and Joker need a stand alone film lol

Yeah, though tbh I feel like at its core this will be a Joker-Harley story.

Correct. That scene is part of the flashback sequence in which The Joker "turns" her.

He's wearing the same outfit from the set pictures in which he gets out of his car and slaps Harleen Quinzel (with blonde hair, wearing glasses and a blue shirt). I think that shot of them in the acid is very cool and somewhat symbolic.
