What are people here's favourite Joker look? My personal favourite is his look in the story Endgame.

he looks like a frigen saints row character.
Now that you mentioned it...

I've seen enough of this Joker. And I want them to recast and rewrite him completely. I have zero interest in seeing more of what we got in this movie.

Definitely Endgame for me, too. From his look to the fact that he was propped up to this mythological status I believe he should've always had, everything about his appearance there was perfect.

Regarding Endgame

Just so you know, he was lying about being immortal. It was the dionesium that allowed him to survive being shot and that allowed him to grow back his face.

I know but even that is kind of debatable. They weren't ever able to prove those pictures were doctored. Even so, what I was trying to say is that it's how the Joker should always be presented: ****ing scary. He stepped it up to another level with Endgame and what he accomplished.

And a big part of that is not knowing whether he is or isn't. The pendulum could swing either way and that only makes him that much more unpredictable and even more a force of evil than he already was.

I agree about him being presented as scary. I love it when he is presented that way too. Snyder, at times, writes him like a character from a horror movie. He obviously isn't the first writer to make him scary, but the manner in which Snyder makes him scary appeals to me a lot.

Same here. It's all subject to opinion but I personally think Snyder made the Joker the scariest he's ever been. Especially with Death of the Family. Cutting his face off and wearing it? That's undeniably evil and twisted.

A personal favorite is Endgame where
he's underneath Gordon's bed.

We need moments like that in the films.

One of the things I like about him cutting off his face, in addition to how scary looking it makes him, is that it shows how fearless and unafraid of pain he is. Having your face cut off would be horrific, but he welcomed it. Most villains, including the very crazy ones, would be terrified of that happening to them. How do you hurt, scare or stop someone that is not even slightly scared of having their face cut off and the pain that comes with it. That wasn't the reason he had it done of course. I actually found the main reason he did it to be underwhelming. In regards to him catching Gordon out, it was a nice follow-up to DOTF where he said that he does be under there and hears Gordon talk, both when he is awake and when he is asleep. It is a creepy thought.

I actually liked the shade of white they used for him in most of his scenes. The problem was the makeup artists didn't do a very good job of evening it out, so it looked splotchy at times. Then there were other times where they threw continuity out the window completely and overdid it. Compare how he looked in his first scene to how he looked in the final scene and the difference is almost night and day. Most likely a result of reshoots.

Same here. I like that he has more of an albino look to him than being purely white, but makeup was very inconsistent indeed. His hands quite often weren't bleached at all in contrast to his face, most noticeably in the chemical wedding scene.

I am not a fan of the Endgame Joker. While I can understand the idea behind it, it is too much grisly look for the character.

When it comes to those more "out there" looks, I have a soft spot for Morrison's Joker, as drawn by Tony S. Daniel. Out of classic Jokers, Alex Ross', Doug Mahnke's and Brian Bolland's are probably my favorites. There is a very sinister vibe to their versions.

So I finally saw the movie and I liked Leto's Joker. He was the most human I've ever seen. He was actually a three dimensional character instead of this force of chaos.

Tim Sale's. :o

But not really. Out of the Jokers I'm familiar with, definitely Ross' and Mahnke's. They're deliciously classy, and they do at least look like they could actually exist.

So I just watched a video of Leto's first makeup test, and I think I prefer the grillz he wore in that video, where they cover the teeth completely. It's easier for me to buy the whole idea that Batman knocked his teeth out and he got metal replacements.

Also, I'll need to check now that I can watch it on an HD television, but I swear his teeth are different in the helicopter scene.

Probably Tony Daniel's in Batman RIP or Jim Lee's in All-Star Batman & Robin.

You can tell that entire scene is a reshoot, it just feels off.

His teeth look solid metal in the helicopter. Very much like the grillz he wore in the video I posted above.

Yeah, they should definitely have them all around instead of the more cap-esque form they were (mainly) used in. It helps sell the look more, imo.

In addition to the change in teeth with the helicopter scene, Joker was also more appropriately colored there....as well as the rest of the reshoots, actually.

Leto is a good Joker.

His issue was that he was in a Suicide Squad movie before a Batman movie.
Its also still a bit too close since Heath's Joker.

I think if they had did a Batman/Joker movie first he would have had more room to breathe and a better guide to craft his Joker. Ayer is actually good for the Squad, but not the best option for the Joker. At least in terms of starting up the Joker.

Fans would have accepted his role/usage in Suicide Squad if they already saw him do a great job in the solo Batman film.

The one thing Leto did that works as both a positive and a negative is that he seems legit insane.

There are times where he's batting a 1000 on how he's portraying "the Joker" and then other times he just seems like some loon. Which is maybe what he was going for. The issue is his dress style kind of makes his off kilter mannerisms stick out more.

I'm very confident he'll do great in a Ben Affleck Batman movie. I also think based on how that movie goes it will help those look back on his performance here in better light.

I get what Ayer was doing with that editing... but it just seemed out of place with the rest of the film.
