Yeah, I worded that badly but I meant that too, like in the one above with Bats.

This ones probably my favorite.

Haha nice. There's some awesome fan art out there. All this done since the original reveal of his look too.

Well I just saw Jared's Gucci ad....

Suicide Squad is no longer the worst thing he was in this year :funny:

If you said the Mask, you'd be on to something. But Carrey's Riddler? Oh God no...haha

But they're pretty much the same? :gngl: Only Riddler has combed back dyed hair.

Nah, the Mask is one of Carrey's best works. His Riddler is just a mess that tries to capture that same energy but fails miserably.

So I watched the theatrical trailer for Batman Forever and Carrey's Riddler reminded me of Leto's Joker.

But..but.. Lex Luthor was supposed to remind viewers of Jim Carrey's Riddler. :oldrazz:

There are one or two lines where the delivery is quite similar. The performance overall is very different, however.

Granted, I am a dyed-in-the-wool Batman Forever apologist who was a big fan of Carrey growing up in the '90s. But I still think his Riddler is an amusing cartoon supervillain that works as an affectionate tribute to Frank Gorshin's manic performance.

True, it is just my opinion. I was just always disappointed with the performance, especially since Jim Carrey was a huge part of my childhood & I love (almost) everything he's done.

That performance just isn't for me, I suppose. Though I will admit that the end scene where he completely loses his mind in the cell is hilarious. :woot:

His performance reminded me why Clooney decided to direct for himself. He talked about doing rehearsals and scenes on several films, only to have his character motivation be completely different or cut from the final film. CLooney dreaded the editing process for his films. lol

Ayer and co let Jared down. I can only hope about Batfleck doing the right thing in the future.
what's your avatar from? Ya know , for research purposes :o ....

Totally random but I've been watching a lot of movies with Ryan Gosling & I have to take back what I said about him being a horrible choice for the Joker. After analyzing his work more closely, I actually now think he could've been a badass Joker. If anyone's seen Murder By Numbers, you can see he has what it takes to pull it off.

Agree. Batman Forever is fun.

All those Leto to Carrey comparisons....

(and I do like Carrey)

I watched "Fracture" the other night and I was thinking something similar. Dude is just a solid actor.

Gosling is an amazing actor but I cannot see him playing a part as grotesque as the Joker. The closest to this is his homicidal cross-dresser in All Good Things - and he was super serious in that role - or...the SNL skit where he played an elf horny for Santa :funny:

You might be right, but the point appears to be moot because Gosling thinks he's too good for superhero movies. He regularly bashes them in interviews whenever someone asks about the possibility of him appearing in one. Still, you never know. Russell Crowe used to be adamant that he would never appear in a comic book movie and look what happened.

Back on topic - I really hope that the Jared Leto Joker appears in Ben Affleck's solo Batman film. I think it would be a nice combo to have him behind the scenes pulling the strings while Deathstroke serves as the more physical threat.

Affleck will have a lot of leeway in his depiction of The Joker, because there was so little of the character in Suicide Squad that Leto can basically do whatever he wants going forward - assuming he's willing to reprise the role. I can totally understand his public disappointment with the whole experience of Suicide Squad, which I share. I was really looking forward to his performance and in the end, there was barely anything there.

If I was Leto, I'd be pissed. Nobody goes full over-the-top method actor, works out extensively, and shaves off their eyebrows for what amounts to a glorified cameo.
