Just Jack.Though I'd prefer they keep it as Jack Napier.

HELL NO! That was never his name in the comics and I don't want to see it carried on beyond Jack Nicholson and Tim Burton. Hated it then, hate it now.

The Joker's real name is lost in the mists of his warped mind and we will never know it.

I don't mind a back story as long as it doesn't name him.

I reckon it would be sweet if they didnt know his name but had a list of alias that he has gone by..
John Smith etc.

The Joker's name being Jack Napier was also carried over into the great animated series as well. :O

I hope Nolan won't give us his real name, because then, Joker won't be so mysterious character.

I was wondering. Is it going to be Jack Napier and keep it or they just going to put another name out there? :joker: any thoughts?
i'd prefer it if they didn't give him a name - or an origin - at all.

No "real name." Aliases are fine. I too hated the Jack Napier origin in Burton's movie.

I want him to already be the bleached-skinned Joker when the movie begins. Any reference to his past should be in the form of stetchy flashbacks only.

Maybe Batman, while hunting him down, goes to Arkham and talks to one of the psychiatrists or something and they say that "His story changes, but one of the more consistent ones has him involved him briefly with the 'RED HOOD GANG'. We think he suffered some sort of accident then."

No actual name ever given.

Giving "the guy who eventually became Joker" a name is silly. Thats one of the cool things about Joker, as far as Batman is concerned he has no other identity, and he's so mysterious. Half the fun is seeing Batman ponder the Joker's very existence. In the comics Joker doesnt even know/remember who he used to be, and if he does he doesnt even realize it. Its all part of what makes him such a nutcase and so cool. His name before should never be found out because he was in fact a 'nobody'. He's simply the Joker, and whatever nicknames he gives himself when he's in the moment.

ESPECIALLY since you had "Joker's true identity and past" being such a plopped down non-mystery in Batman 89. I mean the story centered around the guy that Joker used to be before the accident.

If we ever get flashbacks or anything of the Joker's past it should be presented in a way where only the audience sees it. No one else knows, and i'd like them to establish that Joker himself doesnt recognize his past at all.

Yeah, just Jack. No Napier, no surname. Just refer to him as Jack.
