The Dark Knight Know how i got these scars?...

i think they were real to a extent. Maybe he cut himself after all these bad things in his life built up and one day he just snapped. "maybe i should smile more?" and then he cuts the grin himself.

well his friend that harvey captured was in arkham,., so i thought since he didn't give any info about joker to harvey he must have been a close friend ,,, maybe knew him from arkham?
He probably didn't give him any information because he either didn't know, or was afraid of what the Joker would do to him if he found out. And you have to take into account that the guy wasn't in his right mind as well, hence why Batman asked Harvey, "What do you think you're going to learn from him?" Also, I think that the Joker recruited many of the escaped inmates from Arkham that were running around at the end of the first movie, and this guy was just one of them.

Kind of a random though but... I think he was about to tell Batman the truth during their final fight scene when he says 'wanna know how I got these scars?' because he definitely has this semi-homosexual (not really but kind of) relationship with Batman and I think he was about to let us know the truth..

It's a damn opinion because there's no way to prove or disprove it, I just thought it.

Why do any body Beleive anything the Joker says in the first place? He's insane.

These stories are made up just like he lied to Batman aabout the correct locations of Harvey and Rachael.

As somone mentioned, the Joker telling various stories is a wink at what he said in THE KILLING JOKE: " If I'm to have a past then I want it to be multiple choice".

Semi-homosexual relationship?

Sir, I believe the word you may be looking for is symbiotic.

Do you wanna know how I got these scars?

One time in Burma this ******* burnt down the forest I was living in and as I was trying to escape my mouth got caught in some red hot barbwire.

If I ever found that guy and made him give me an apology I would drop the whole "chaos" thing and go back to my life, but I'll neva' see that old British colonialist bastard again.

Neva!

Yeah yeah symbiotic relationship sure.. But I don't know if that's entirely true.. It seemed like to me that Joker just loved watching Batman.. I'm not just saying this because of the whole 'you complete me thing'..

I mean I guess what I'm talking about is symbiotic.. But did anyone else get the feeling that even though Joker's very asexual, he kind of has a man-crush on Batman??? It just always seemed like Batman, for lack of a better term, brought a smile to his face..

I believe he has more of a crush on the challenge that Batman presents. Think of it as the whole Coyote/Roadrunner thing. It's not so much ol' Wile E. MUST eat THAT bird, but damn, he's just so hard to catch, he must obtain him somehow...

I loved the scars story but how was the Joker even raised! Man, having Heath's Joker w/out an origin in TDK is confusing but he's awesome anyway!!!

I loved those scenes. I doubt either one of them is his origin but it's hard to tell how he got very serious when he told both stories. It sounded like he was going to cry when he said "I just want her to know I don't care about the scars." and he got very angry when he told the story about his dad and then he told that one guy of how he hated his father. We'll probably never know but like The Joker says "I prefer it to be multiple choice!"

How much of those stories was in the script and how much was down to Ledger? I heard that Nolan gave him a lot of creative freedom.

:lmao: :lmao: That was petty good.

Was it just me that really hated the "wanna how I got these scars?" when he says it to Batman. I mean if the Joker really wanted to blow up the ferries why would he stop just before he was about to do it, just to tell Batman a supposedly fake back story? It just seemed kind of amatuerish on the writing side of things to end the Joker story. That was the only part I didnt like.

maybe he was actually gonna tell batman the true version? but its typical james bond style villainy, giving a monologue just when your about to win!!

because the Joker "just does things"....

speaking of the scars, so last night I was watching pans labyrinth right? And for anyone who's seen it there is a scene where the general gets his mouth cut open just like the joker scars... he ends up stitching them back up! But two things... 1 do you think nolan got the scars idea from that and 2 In PL you see this guy smile when his cheeks are cut and it's creepy. Would Joke have been scarier if the cuts had like stayed open?

I DO wish he had told Batman about his scars in another scene, just so we could get another story about them.

i would have loved more stories about the scars as well... but the thing is.. i don't think the joker himself would even remember the real story..

kinda like in the killing joke.. i mean after all... when that book first came out.. my friends and i didn't take that as an orgin story.. it was being shown to you from the jokers mind... just like one of his scar stories... in the KJ.. he even tells the reader that he prefers multiple choice thoughts about the past.. i'm sure he' has many more scenarios up in his head...

in DK... i see a parallel between heaths "joker"... and guy pierce's "leonard" character from memento... one has scars... one has tatoos.. and when asked about the past... well.. it's a little foggy for both of them it seems...

remember sammy jankis...

I figured maybe he was inspired by Ichi the Killer.

okay, this is not a jab at you, but I'm just tired of the 4.7 million posts that all say the same thing.

i remember before the film came out loads of muppets were saying "well maybe batman hit joker in the face with his zip-line thing". i just couldn't help it, i had to abuse them but they were really serious and thought it was a plausible explanation. now who here who said such stupid things will own up to it?

like I said before, I heard rumor before Ledger was even cast that Joker was hit in the face with a batarang, causing the scars.

I just don't see how that would be possible. How would a b-rang hit both cheeks AND curve up on both sides? I always that that was a stupid sounding theory. (No insult to anyone intended)

well I'm definitely not saying it is a correct theory...having heard it way before the movie was even being filmed though, I found it to be kind of interesting and thought that could be how "batman created joker".

obviously, that's not the route they went though.

i'm glad it was just a rumor... felt it was a kind-of dumb idea.. joker is better off with out an origin... in character and appearance... IMO of coarse...
