The Dark Knight Know how i got these scars?...

I just don't see how that would be possible. How would a b-rang hit both cheeks AND curve up on both sides? I always that that was a stupid sounding theory. (No insult to anyone intended)

the right curse up,the left goes straight

If we had gotten an origin, I like the idea of some kind of wire slashing his face.

I've come to think recently that the truth or falsity of the stories he tells is highly irrelevant compared to the importance of telling them generally. I think after a while, the Joker would want us to be doing just this kind of thing, imagining other scenarios. And not just for him since we're not in a position to know much about his very early psychology and what kind of situation would turn him into what he is. Though I think he tries to read people well enough to determine what story they need to hear.

But we do know ourselves, and I think the Joker puts out an implicit request for us to seriously consider what horrors we could experience or undergo that would relinquish our faith and trust in humanity.

Even if I knew his true story, I don't think I'd be really satisfied.

I really liked how he was lying throughout the movie. I was kinda disappointed that he didn't get to tell Batman...I was also surprised at how he was able to keep Batman pinned. This Joker wasn't no joke.

I think the Joker should NEVER have a definite origin. He should be the only one that knows why and how he became the monster he is, if he even DOES know.

Gun to my head though, if I had to choose a loose background for him, I'd prefer it to be how it was in Case Study... he was an incredibly cunning, calculating gangster.

Do you wanna know how I got these scars?

One time in Burma this ******* burnt down the forest I was living in and as I was trying to escape my mouth got caught in some red hot barbwire.

If I ever found that guy and made him give me an apology I would drop the whole "chaos" thing and go back to my life, but I'll neva' see that old British colonialist bastard again.

Neva!

:funny: This one is my favorite. ;)

I just got home from seing the movie (for the 1st time ever) and i only remember 2 stories. was there a third?

I disagree i think these crazy rants about his scares bring great deepths to the character to show how insain he has become he creates his own truth as the real truth on how he got these scars is the thin line that made him from comedian to joker.

If i was to go by the comics history of the Joker i would say that, He was a comedian on stage doing his act, he then picks on a mob boss who was in the crowed and well makes him feel small. Later after the act he runs into the mob boss and a couple of his guys and there is this whole "Well i didnt find it funny" sort of conversation of which leads to the mob boss giving the comedian his scar's "You're a comedian, even when its the saddest of times for you, at least you will have a smile on that face of yours." Scared the comedian flips realising the true nature of the mobs of gotham as just some bully big boys throwing there weight around he decides to teach them a lession, which would lead to the money and the bank thing that starts the Dark Knight.

I'm really wondering what the third story would have been about if Batman hadn't made his move !

The third was never said--its just him asking batman at the end--wanna know how I got these scars?

^^^ So there was speculation of a third story being told besides him asking batman?!?! that woulda been sweet!

Yea there was no third story in the script. They decided not to put a third story in the script.

Seems like this has become a bandwagon thing now.....

"i tried to emulate 2 pac in above the rim."

but as far as origin's go, I like the idea of combining the killing joke origin in with the gangster one. Like he was a man who once had wife with a baby on the way and he had no other choice but to turn to a life of crime to help them get by.

In 'gotham noir' if you can find it, hes actually a gangster helping gordon out by feeding him information but of course eventually things turn sour when they find out:

that pic looks like it came from a prequel graphic novel to TDK. especially how in the movie he says to the mob "I know a squealer when i see one" talking about lao

maybe there was some truth to the stories, but they wernt the actual ways he got his scars. when he was younger maybe his dad was a evil bastard who butchered his mother in front of him. then when he got older he tried to have a relashionship but his wife cheated on him with his best friend and left with all his money. what i'm saying is that throughout his whole life these bad events kept happening to him and finally one day he just snapped and thought to himself "maybe i SHOULD smile more" and cut himself. i dont like the idea that it was one event that made him like this, i feel its more interesting that a whole series of events and overall just **** life pushed him over the edge. thats why i've never really like some of the origins in the comics, its not very realistic that one single event no matter how disatrous could change a man.

I think that the father story was the closest...we all know he's too ****ing crazy to have ever had a wife.

I find it interesting that its Gambol who gets the abusive father story, and Racheal who gets the wife story, its like he'll choose a story to best suit his audience at any given time.

I wanted to know what Joker would have told Batman when Joker knocks him off at first.

who knows maybe he might have, just like he pulled harvey dent into madness, it resembles how he tried to drive gordon insane in the killing joke, to him All it takes is One bad day.

Them scar stories where my favourite scenes! Well one of my favourite scenes!!!

Upon another viewing of this movie, I'm changing my stance a bit and I'm starting to think maybe the Joker wasn't a crazed criminal before the scars. I always thought that the scars just gave him his identity, his mask if you will, the same way bats gave Bruce his identity. I thought the Joker was just a supreme mastermind who finally found in Batman someone worthy to fully engage, to fully become who he always may have been on the inside, a psychopathic mass murdering freak, but I'm starting to question that....

From the Joker's views on society as a whole, Im starting to think he was relatively normal and a series of events happened that weakened his faith in human beings and their judgement or morals. His whole point to the film was to show Batman & Gotham how immoral they actually are. I'm thinking at some point he was a pretty legitimate man, maybe in business, possibly not so legitimate in crime though, whatever the case, it was something where he depended on, and trusted, the word of the next man, where trust & morals counted for something. The honor and respect he so blantantly ingnores now, was demanded in whatever line of work or part of life he was involved in prior. Possibly. Or maybe I was right to begin with and the man is just insane lol. Whatever the case, this is the fun part in trying to figure it all out, which is why the scarring IMO was the best way to go
