I keep meaning to read Blue Marvel. I hear he's just like a black Sentry.

Black Lightning is popular, but never seems to really go] anywhere :(

Hehe, I remember back around 93 or so, I created a guy who was supposed to be a mutant. I forgot what his name was but he had massive dreads, had powers similar to that of Warlock from the New Mutants.

Oh... and he smoked of course... because that's all I used to do at the time.

I wanted to like the new WM book so much, but I had to drop it around issue 4 or 5. He was just too angry and seemed to enjoy the killing a bit too much. That and I hate his cyborg-body.

Indeed.

They should've kept Black Lightning in the League. And Blue Marvel seems to be as powerful as Sentry, but he's not a nutcase (so far).

And our superheroine sisters are turning white.

Ugh, this is something I always bring up when people ask why minorities aren't much into comics. Next thing you know they'll make T'Challa white and call him Akeem the African Dream.:cmad:

Phastos was pointlessly turned white in the short lived Eternals series. Fatality seems to go back and forth over in GL...

I don't have any pictures on me, but Vixen from the Justice League is only slightly darker than the white characters, and is significantly lighter than John Stewart and Black Lightning. Vixen is African.

Apparently the only black women today's comic book colorists are aware of are Halle Berry and Mariah Carey. Storm remains dark about 90% of the time, but there's a ridiculous cameo in Captain Britain's comic I'd fish out right now if I wasn't heading to work.

They balanced that out by making Ajak's human form a black dude w/ dreads.

I'm being pretty lazy right now, but I'll try to look for some pics online I've seen of Vixen being literally colored white.

or I could wait for RSP to bring it up since he knows what I'm talking about.:oldrazz:

On the plus side, Xavin from the Runaways (when he was still in the Runaways) was a Skrull who usually took the form of a black person. Xavin was technically a he, and usually looked like a black guy whenever his lesbian fiance wasn't around. Then he turned into a black girl. I think he only ever turned white when the Runaways were stuck in the year 1907, for obvious reasons.

Then we have this infamous Heroes for Hire cover featuring Misty Knight. Never mind the squick nature of the cover in question, but compared to how other artists draw with the afro puffs and "oh no she did'ent"-style look, this is just....wha?

You forgot Beyonce. Lilly Hollister was often drawn to resemble her....and what's up with the brown skin super blond hair thing?

Just in: They're predicting a No. 1 debut for Whitney's new album next week. It comes out on Monday as opposed to Tuesday...they pushed it up a day past the deadline so it could be eligible for Grammy consideration. :whatever:

The songs I listened to just weren't good enough for me to root for her. Not one of them made me think, "This needs to be on my MP3". :csad:

The League is a freakin mess right now, Idk why I waste my money

I don't even read League...I'm totally on Society.

Mr. Terrific always represents in those pages. There are some other minorities too with significant roles. Although, Geoff handled all of it kinda sloppily towards the end with too much crowding.

RETRO HOT TOPIC: The Jamie Foxx Show Vs. Martin

So for those of you old enough to remember: Which TV show was your favorite? If Wanda and Shanaynay were to tussle it out which diva would come out on top in the comedy ring?

Jamie Foxx is a local around here, but there's no way in hell that his show was on Martin's level. It was good and all, but it really took alot from Fresh Prince and Martin before it. Martin is my all time favorite sitcom, and it's one of the rare sitcoms I ever watched and loved. That show had so much going for it. The interactions between Martin and Pam were gold, Cole's dumbass, Gina and Pam's nice buttocks, Tommy ain't got no job man, and a host of other hilarious things. Go up the the fif flo and ask Brotherman what he thinks. He'll say Marty Mart was the best.

The Jamie Foxx Show was hilarious, but it was no Martin.

I'd say Martin for sure. That show is a classic. One of my favorite episodes is when Gina gets her head stuck in the bed headboard. :hehe:

Martin for sure, some of my favorite characters were usually the ones Martin didn't play like Bruh' Man and Hustle Man; Martin's interaction with them was always hilarious.

And my favorite characters that Martin played were Mama Payne, Dragonfly Jones, and Elroy Preston.

I'd have to give the edge to Martin as well...but I do believe that Wanda was a much more hilarious concept than Shanaynay. I distinctly recall Wanda doing a performance with the R&B girl group En Vogue that had me literally crying and rolling on the floor with laughter.

Wanda was from In Living Color, not The Jamie Foxx Show. She doesn't count, here.
