BvS Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 2

Someone should start a list of all rumors around this movie, who started them and how they turned out. It would be interesting to see the strike rates of different sites.

Jett actually got one rumor he reported on confirmed when he said "WB is looking for an older Batman". The names he proposed didn't check out, but the overall rumor did.

Actually Jett was the first one to call Ben Affleck as a contender

Looking through his list, looks like you are right. This is the list he had:

Josh Duhamel, Jude Law, Gerard Butler, Josh Brolin, Jon Hamm, Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Jim Caviezel, etc.

Looks like this one is a good hit for Jett.

Has any site, apart from Cosmic Book News, mentioned any Lex contenders, or even mentioned that Lex is in the movie?

He threw out all those names and then said "I can't say who it is. But it MAY BE one of these guys. :cwink:" and quickly took credit for Brolin saying how he had the role locked.

That isn't "calling it." Then again, Jett lives in a bubble where he thinks WB listens to him.

Didn't know he had gone for Brolin. The older Batman rumor did originate from Jett though.

I don't know why people come here and crap all over Jett and El Mayimbe, yet constantly post the "scoops" that originate from those sites.

Either you look at them as a viable source of info or you don't.

It's obvious that they do have some sources, they just may not always pan out. Such is life. Also, they are running a business and have to attract clicks to their website, so you should be taking anything they say with a grain of salt anyway.

I just find it funny that the same people who are quick to drop an "El Maybe" joke will secretly be lurking on LR for the latest info. Which is like...half of you.

Yeah, it gets a bit tiring, I do love the irony in some of the posts criticising Mayimbe though. EM does clearly have sources, so rumors that start from him do catch my attention, and comparing him to CBN is just silly.

El's more in the know than most.

Jett knew, apparently from him, that the sequel would feature Batman, and we were all calling BS before it was confirmed.

WB throw a lot of red herrings and white lies out there to guard their business and secrets. El Mayimbe gets them and he can make mistakes. I know the WW film and Hulk Planet things were bogus, but it's easy in that business, to make mistakes.

And the last I heard El mention anything of Cranston was that while he heard the names of Lex, Cranston and Mark Strong thrown about under the same breath, naturally, you assume it's one of them. El thought that it was going to be him, through Breaking Bad finishing. WB had a major actor coming out a major show on their hands.

But it was never the case. El then said that WB were listening to fans suggestions about them wanting Cranston for Gordon. Then he removed all the tweets and has never mentioned him since. Likely because of the **** storm CBN and the media caused.

CBN confirming Cranston dropped out of the film isn't fact. ..it's confirming and strengthening it's own BS.
Even El called the writer of the article lying scum when it all started.

I can't believe Cosmical Book News is real.

I can't believe Rolling Stone were stupid enough to run with their fantasy story.

Cosmic Book News should just become a parody site. I mean, they pretty much already are, but they should just be honest about it, lol.

BatmanonFilm's Jett doesn't claim to be a clairvoyant. His sources generally provide him information on the fly; as such, some of what he reports is naturally subject to change.

Here are the facts:

Following Snyder's big announcement regarding the new film, Jett first reported that the studio was looking to cast a somewhat older actor in the coveted role of Batman, depicted this time as a grizzled veteran of sorts. That turned out to be true.

He later claimed that several actors, including Brolin and Affleck, were being considered for the part. Also true.

One of the trades, specifically The Hollywood Reporter, subsequently confirmed that Brolin was in the mix. Based on that info (and presumably more), Jett apparently thought the Gangster Squad actor was a shoe-in for the part. Although Jett's assumption here was wrong, Brolin did go on to confirm that his people actually were in talks with Snyder, further claiming that "it just didn't turn out".

So.. when you consider what all he reported on the subject (as a whole), Jett certainly wasn't far off. My thinking is if you're looking to get an idea as to where things are going with the film as production slowly moves along, BOF's a fairly good resource. Now, if you expect flat-out back-to-back predictions with a flawless accuracy rate.. it's not that.

wow that is new level of awesome for bermejo, the guy is a god. But i totally see it, it has bradley cooper written all over it. Right down to the eye color n his signature smirk.

Actually, Bermejo said that his Luthor is inspired by a younger Daniel Day-Lewis.

It's over!

He's not going to be Lex...

Never was and never will be! :o

To be honest Cranston is ****ing overrated!

If Cranston is cast in the movie I just hope it's Gordon, since I fear after Breaking Bad he'll be type-cast as a villain, despite Walter White being a very clear example of anti-hero.

I'm sure that this is just me being paranoid, but shouldn't we be hearing who has been cast as Lex soon? Principle starts in two months. That doesn't leave a lot of scheduling room for a big name actor. Could WB just be holding on to their choice to announce later or is it possible that Lex may not appear?

I'm usually the last one to panic around production schedules, but when it comes to actor's schedule, I'm not too familiar so I can go too far with assumptions, heh.

who knows maybe Lex won't be in the film personally I would prefer for 2 lesser known and there forth less screen time villains so the focus remains on Batman and Superman

Never seen one single episode of BB.

The UK simply refuses to show it without having to pay for it.
However...I love Cranston in MITM :o

I loved him there too. Malcolm in the Middle actually was pretty funny, even now. For a sitcom, it's definitely one of the better ones, especially compared to some other sitcoms that were on at the same time. All of the main cast was really likable, even their crazy mom.

I still watch re-runs :)

Cranston, is undoubtedly, a remarkable actor. Hardly overrated.
You wouldn't imagine the guy who played hapless Hal was Walter White.

Exactly. If Anthony Hopkins thinks he's the greatest, I'm pretty sure he's not overrated
