The Dark Knight Rises Life after Nolan: What comes next... - Part 1 Unless it's actually Part 2...o - Part 2

Not trying to knock your choice but the guy is 40. They should get somebody that's actually young enough to be Robin. One thing that annoys me about Hollywood is when they hire actors that are two times older than the character that they're playing.

I was kidding about Sarsgard :-)

But what do you think of Owen as Bruce?

No and Will Smith would not accept the role of Batman due to the same reason he turned down Superman.

Will Smith is an idiot.
He turned down the role of "Neo" in The Matrix in order to do Wild Wild West. He turned down Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" - the chance to work with Tarantino and Leonardo DiCaprio.
He has zero idea about what roles to do. In my opinion, he usually picks the movies where he can be a sassy black guy with one liners who either fights aliens, creatures, or he can try desperately to win an Oscar. In other words:

Men in Black
Men in Black 2
Men in Black 3
Wild Wild West
Independence Day
Bad Boys
Bad Boys 2
The Pursuit of Happiness
Ali
Seven Pounds
I Am Legend
Hancock
I, Robot
Hitch
Enemy of the State
The Legend of Bagger Vance

Basically, everything he's ever done. That's his whole career.

So he's turned down two good roles. I supposed no actor has ever done that before.

What I love about your list there is a) none of those characters are the same not including the sequels. They may share similarities, but that happens in even the best actor's body of work. And b) the very role you criticize him for taking is the same role you criticize him for turning down. Django is a "sassy black man." And nothing about the role screams Oscar nod. Will Smith would've been playing second fiddle to either Waltz or Dicaprio.

A bit harsh for a guy you don't even know...

Maybe he doesn't want to work with Tarantino and DiCaprio or be in the Matrix? He's an idiot because he'd rather be in movies he liked or that he could show his kids instead of movies you like?

He has zero idea about what roles to do.
Being the highest paid actor in Hollywood begs to differ...

In my opinion, he usually picks the movies where he can be a sassy black guy with one liners who either fights aliens, creatures, or he can try desperately to win an Oscar.
It's worked out pretty well for him... He's doing things he likes and managed to support and create careers for his children because of it. Does that sound like an idiot, or someone who hit the jackpot?

Don't forget his work as a producer, the successful show that ran 6 seasons and is still in syndication to this day almost 20 years later, and several gold and platinum albums.

Will Smith and Bruce Wayne and The Rock as Bane.

Excellent film waiting to happen.

By choice, a choice he made based on research, believe it or not.

He wanted to become exactly what he became, one of the biggest box office stars in the world. So he studied the commonalities in the biggest box office movies of that time, determined what made the most money, and only took roles fitting those descriptions. I'm not blowing smoke, he's talked about this process in plenty of interviews. And it worked lol, so in reality, he' may not be the idiot you think, whether you like his movies or not...

Based on the success of the Arkham video games,I can see Hugo Strange having a strong chance of being the main advesary in the next series of films. However,if DC's way of "rebooting" Batman to fit in a universe that the JLA and he can coexist is what I think it is then I think that Mr.Freeze or Clayface are more likely choices.

Ultimately,I'd like to see a tv series or movie series based on an already established Batman, Nightwing, Batgirl/Oracle and such.Eventual flashbacks, spotlight episodes or movie prequels could provide everything needed to fill in the gaps.

Will Smith is great. He's responsible for one of my favorite interview quotes ever, from an interview with Michael Parkinson:

PARKINSON: So, what are the roles that most appeal to you?
WILL SMITH: The roles Tom Cruise turns down.

In terms of future villains, for a less grounded franchise in the future, I'd love to see Killer Croc get his time in the spotlight. Even in the comics, I think Croc is a great character who's never been used to his full potential. The closest anyone's came to portraying him as a heavy hitter are the folks behind the Arkham games. I could see Croc in a movie as a reptilian Anton Chigurh, tearing through everything and everyone in his way like a force of nature.

In an ironic twist to the Big Willie discussion, I'd like to see him take on the role of Croc in a future Bat-flick. Killer Croc is black, though some people don't know it.

Edit. Didn't realize that I posted the same thing in this thread a couple weeks ago.

... What role was he offered in SR?

Superman/Clark Kent.

"The last 'Superman' I got offered," Will Smith revealed recently, reminiscing about the time he passed up the "Superman Returns" role that eventually went to Brandon Routh, "the script came, and I was like, 'There is no way I'm playing Superman!' Because I had already done Jim West [of 'Wild Wild West'], and you can't be messing up white people's heroes in Hollywood!"
