I think it's totally fair to be cautious or have concerns about Homecoming

MARVEL is not perfect even they mess up from time to time but they have also shown that they are willing to fix a mistake if it makes sense as well

Eh, It did for me.

I liked that short over this film too.

So you liked a short film where they killed off 2/3 of the original rangers (Actually 5/6 since Kimberly is revealed as Rita) over a movie that actually developed the team?..... Oh kay...

The only thing the short got right was the action.

I thought anyone going all in on this film was so strange.
I asked at first why would people set their expectations one way or the other when this is clearly Chronicle Meets the Breakfast Club.
I then backed that statement as my reason from wanting to really see this. Finally saw it and I couldn't be prouder.
Would love to see where Israelite's career heads.

Just a weird lack of consistency.
That's pretty much it.

I can't believe people take that parody thing seriously. So weird.

Anyway I was right. Power Rangers is nowhere near as popular as Ninja Turtles. I kept saying it and people kept saying it could do Ninja Turtles numbers. The original Power Rangers movie didn't make a lot of money at the height of its popularity. The only way Power Rangers would have succeeded is if they treated it like the big fun action movie that it should have been. You can still have character development in big fun action movies. Even if all went right I still don't think it would have made nearly 500mil worldwide like TMNT. I still think at best that it would have grossed 375mil worldwide.

Uh, yeah.

Shrugs.

Never a huge PR kid to begin with.

I prefer Big Bad Beetleborgs. lol

Until, they decided to switch the sister and not talk about it. Ha.

I loved the Big Bad Beetleborgs!! That show plus Power Rangers were my childhood, along with Digimon and Pokemon. I had a good childhood :woot:

VR Troopers, Spellbinder, Mystic Knights

Good times

Welp so no six sequels huh? Next reboot they should hire people who have a clear vision and are competent. Funny enough this movie was pretty much a competent version of FFINO with the same problems especially the latter half where the film takes a nose dive.

You either elevate the material or you embrace it. I like the cast and would like to see more if them but I guess that won't happen. I'm not sure if it was a case of too many cooks in the kitchen but Dean is just not a good director. His vision or whoever it was, was not well thought out.

They certainly elevated the material. Baffled by how well Israelite was able to elevate it.
I was wondering if there were too many cooks, but I didn't get that impression even with all the writers they've had. The editing was weird at parts, but was very cohesive. They did rush that first bout within the suits, but then as soon as they hopped into the zords it flowed better.

The cast wouldn't be as good without his direction. That's definitely what Reel-Man was getting at.

Saban struck gold with Power Rangers Dino Charge and didn't realize it, when it comes to little kids, that's all they talk about when it comes to Power Rangers

I will say this, leading up to the release. Debating how this film was going to do was really funny

EDIT: whatever happened to harry? He was championing for this hard
Didn't know hoe was on probation. Still he did say he'd disappear from this thread if it didn't go well. He basically admitted he could spend months with the LOL, acting like I wasn't making any sense, and the, "well other places say you crazy Darth and TeeKay and don't know what you are talking about", but if his predictions weren't on point he didn't want to have that discussion. Which is fair I guess if you admit it beforehand. :funny:

Yes Dean Israelite is a regular Martin Scorsese. That's why he hasn't directed one well reviewed or well-received by the audience movie. If Dean Israelite turns into a good director I'll comment then but that moment isn't now.

It did feel like a contradiction. It was okay if this movie didn't resemblance the source material in almost anyway, but one little change with Spider-Man, and it is DEFCON 1.

Dino Charge started off alright and it ended stupidly like Barry Allen messed up the timeline stupid. That season ended up royally sucking and Ninja Steel looks like it's going the same way. The only thing of interest in the current season was the 2 hot chicks as the White and Pink Rangers. Dino Charge is not blowing up at all either.

Ah don't remember him saying that. Odd.

I think he should try a non genre film.

The teen stuff from this seems to be well received and I remember the teen stuff and interactions in Project Almanac were alright.

He just might not be cut out for genre work. Not everyone is.

Hey, SPIDEY I'll have you know he was in consideration to direct Doctor Strange. I mean he didn't actually get the job, but that shows he has the right stuff, right? Right....

Lol, obviously no Scorsese. Jeez, that sarcastic embellishment.
He actually reminded me more of the way Abrams does his character work.

I wouldn't mind him on another teen project.
Straight up give him any Hughes-like property you can think of.

Except Abrams, for all his flaws, never forgets to entertain. Abrams always remembers that he is making an action adventure movie.

I am unaware of these so called Abrams flaws. :o

I disagree. Everything was half assed here. There was no vision. The weird tone shifts, editing didn't help. The whole "Power Rangers" portion of the film felt like it belonged in a different movie. That's not being cohesive. There needs to be consistency and there wasn't. It just felt like a different bunch of ideas mashed together. It definitely explains the 4 or 5 writers on the film.

Trank did a better job of portraying teenagers with superpowers in Chronicle. The tone stayed consistent all the way up to the end. I get the need to build up to the finale and make it feel earned but it just dragged. I wasn't sure what Dean was trying to do. Nothing was happening. While those first two acts were better than the 3rd act, there were times I felt bored. The first Avengers was essentially all build up to the finale. Regardless, there was still bits of action sprinkled throughout that were informed by character and by the time we got to the firework display at the end. It felt end.

PR just happens and bam it ends. I was literally going that's it?? The highlight was the cast. Everything that me, ISS, Darth and countless others were saying about this movie before it opened is essentially what it turned out to be.
