Very easy to pull it off. Make it what Zordon use to say. Have him bring it up. Have Jason and the team think it is cheesy. Then in the moment when they become a team, have him say it. Give it meaning.

I love when my baby comes up with better solutions to issues than filmmakers who are paid a ton of money to do that.

What is it about that line that makes people think its cheesey?

I mean, it's so easy to explain. I mean come on. lol

That's my argument for it. It is too cheesy.

The movie lost all it's chances of being "edgy and mature" when the 1995 theme started playing while the zords ran to the rescue.

"It's Morphin time" would fit right in.

It's on the nose & super campy. Somebody said its the equivalent of "Up, up and away!!" And that's a perfect analogy. The way they handled it in the movie was perfect. They made it badass & appropriate. I don't see the problem.

But It makes even less sense for Zordon: an alien, to say it.

*looks at the box office*

I found your problem.

Why? He seems to speak English in the movie. They have something called a Morphing grind. How does it make less sense?

The problem with the movie wasn't that it wasn't a perfect adaption of the show. Even less people would have showed up if they went that route. Nobody wanted to see that, even some PR fans. And why would Zordon say it? What reason would he have for randomly saying such a campy phrase?

So its cheesy because its campy? I still don't get it.

Everything In the series is campy and over the top but I don't think that line in particular is inherently cheesy.

That is a weird assumption that people who went to see a Power Rangers movies are turned off by the concept of the Power Rangers and thus the box office would be lower if they actually made a Power Rangers movie. This movie has only done 130m WW.

Zordon, a being from a different world, would not view the same things as "campy" that Earth teenagers would. You know, like how Drax says really campy things, but people love it because he doesn't get the joke. Or how Groot can only talk like a Pokemon, but people got emotional over it. How Gamora thinks it is amazing to be just like Kevin Bacon.

I honestly don't know how its cheesier then the zords. I mean they are mechanical weapons based on beast from Earth's past.

What is it that I constantly hear on this site? Embrace the source material?

For Harry that is only for Spider-Man. He doesn't seem to actually like the source material for Power Rangers, so he doesn't care if they crap all over it. And I am not joking.

I haven't seen it, so I can't agree or disagree. But the argument isn't, "well its too cheesy to say", so we can't say it at all.

The way Jason said it was the same way Johnny storm said "flame on" in FFINO. It was lifeless and he just sounded unenthusiastic and bored.

And really, it isn't that hard of a thing to adapt. Hell, Jason is even a jock, who would be used to those kind of calls. As a way to get psyche up for a fight makes perfect sense. Especially for kids.

Power Rangers isn't for kids SB. Zod. :o

This movie had the megazord do a jig or whatever that dance was at the end, like it doesnt get any cornier/cheesy then that.

But It makes even less sense for Zordon: an alien, to say it.

Why? I mean the source of their power comes from the morphing grid that I believe he talked about.

I think it worked great as a tease so the moment will be that much sweeter when we finally hear it in IW.

Either say it or dont say it. Cutting off the last 2 seconds of the film like the film editor was drunk so Whedon could tease that phrase was just silly. The phrase "Avengers Assemble" doesnt qualify as something that needs to be teased. Hell, it was the first film's title in the UK. Avenger's Assemble, Hulk Smash, Its Clobberin Time, By Grabthar's Hammer...phrases that should just be said when its apptopriate.

I feel like the point is that it's too silly to say unironically out loud. I don't agree, but filmmakers don't seem to share that sentiment.

Whedon is the guy that directed a film with a character dressed like this:

I really dont think he teased that phrase because he considers the phrase too embarrassing to be said unironically.

Yeah agree there, it's mainly because people haven't seen the Neo-Saban seasons especially Super Mehgaforce which is basically MMPR made modern and very much hated by the fans. Heck even the actors of that season openly said at Cons how much their season sucked and that they wished they did more. It makes me scratch my head why Darth essentially wants to watch Super Mehgaforce.

No, if I was doing this, I would have simply made MMPR, with a touch of the Edgar Wright to it.

It's a harmless wink for the fans, not seeing how it's silly but to each his own.
