Besides the lack of a popular following in China, the drama played out in the first half of the movie wouldn't be appreciated by Chinese audiences IMO. Similarly in Japan.

You can kind of see how well it will do in Japan based on S. Korea. So, yeah, it's DOA in Japan.

They announced the Digital Release will be June 13th and Blu-Ray/ 4K release on June 27th. They haven't announced bonus features yet. Whatever happens, I'm gonna buy the blu ray and support this. I just hope that we get some enticing bonus features, i'd love to see an extended cut of this.

IMHO it's just not a fun transformation. Once again Guard, I'm not understanding why you've gone all in on defending this movie. It ain't that good. Not exactly some sort of Mad Max: Fury Road sitch here.

I'm not sure why you think me stating the obvious about a few of the elements of the film and an opinion equals me "going all in", but...

Oh man what negativity is here do you guys enjoy your negativity i'd love to know, you know what on second thought never mind I don't want to know. I do know if I ever want to have a crappy day to come to this side of the hype lovely simply lovely

Pretty much why most of us who liked it stay out of this thread.

On the news subject, here is the artwork for the home release:

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD Dean Israelite’s Saban’s Power Rangers (2017), starring Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin, and Becky G. The three releases will be available for purchase on June 27.

Supplemental features and technical details for these upcoming releases have not yet been finalized.

The first great blockbuster of the year so they gotta false advertise on the cover now ?

This was not even a blockbuster

I have no idea just what "The Knockturnal" is, but the name doesn't inspire confidence that it is a well know publication...

Can't wait to own it. I hope there's enough bonus features.

Looking forward to seeing the steelbooks that Best Buy will have. I don't buy DVD's/blu-rays' often but can't pass up a good steelbook. :woot:

Really? Because it seems the movie had very little impact and led to little to no discussion. This thread has gone days without any talk of any sort. But I guess it is easier to complain about other posters then just admit the movie wasn't all that well received.

The reason this thread is so negative is because there is nothing positive, besides personal opinions about the film, to discuss. The film is a failure all around.

Piss poor word of mouth that led to horrible legs after a merely okay opening and a horrendous overseas gross. And add poor reviews to the **** stew. Lionsgate will probably make some money due to how they pay for their films but the other people involved will lose money. A film that cost 100mil to make and was supposed to start a franchise is looking to probably make a dismal under 200 million worldwide gross. What positive stuff should we be talking about? This isn't one of those situations where people pretend that movies are a box office failure because they don't like them like with the DC movies this is an out-and-out failure. What's next, do you want us to find the good in the embarrassing Ghost in the Shell failure? At least something like Dredd had good reviews on its side, Power Rangers has nothing.

The fact of the matter is some people are hurt because a lot of us called this failure and those people ignored the signs. Young adult movies, not named The Hunger Games, do not do well overseas, it was a mistake to make Power Rangers a young adult movie. And I like the film but it's not good enough for me to say that they couldn't have did a traditional superhero movie and made a better film. Saban and Lionsgate chose the wrong angle and now they're paying for it at the box office.

anyways...

Did you read what JDF mentioned about the sequels that LG still has a a plan for 3 sequels? Naturally down from Saban's 5/6 movies claim. Should be interesting to see what happens.

The Feb/March release are all coming in May/June. Seems the usual turnaround now. Though BatB is still not dated. :argh:

Rumor has it BatB is scheduled for June 6th. I saw it on the Blu-Ray.com forums. I'd take it with a grain of salt, but home media releases are happening much faster now so it might be true.

Anyway, I wish there was a cast commentary on the Power Rangers Blu-ray. They've been a blast to watch in interviews and that would have made this a must-buy for me instead of a "maybe if it's on sale" purchase.

Very pleased with the bonus features included on the DVD/Blu/4K Blu. Obviously, the documentary was left off the DVD because of space, but at least they didn't make it barebones either (like Disney and Paramount do now).

Day one purchase for me.

Covers nice. Should've put them unmorphed to be a bit more on point lol.

Just so I am clear, "It's Morphin Time" is too cheesy for the movie, but not the cover of the blu ray. Okay. :woot:

He says it in the movie as far as I remember. Its not said in the same fashion as the show but he certainly says it.

I will probably buy the Blu-ray when it goes way down in price. Like it's more of a $10 purchase, not a $25 purchase.

Blu-rays drop so quickly in price unless it is Disney. Blur ray shopping during the holidays is a goldmine.

Power Rangers bombed in South Korea quickly. Its made less than $500,000 there and dropped from number 4 to number 26 in only its 2nd week. Based on that China and Japan probably won't be saving it despite the PR blitz in China.

Power Rangers box office will top out at $150 million world wide the way things are going. Pretty bad performance.
