I like both TW and Logan pretty equally but of course Logan has a superior villain, more emotional depth and gore! However I think TW has a better and more intriguing story to it

Many people care more about character and emotion than plot.

Dont personally get it when people say Logan is "by far the best Wolverine (even best X-film!)". I like both TW and Logan pretty equally but of course Logan has a superior villain, more emotional depth and gore! However I think TW has a better and more intriguing story to it and I liked the way they threw in Jean Grey into his dreams as a way of linking it to the previous movies.

I like both as well but its obvious Mangold had more freedom on Logan and it's all the better for it. The Wolverine is disgustingly under rated on here though I have found. I have seen some even compare it to X3 and Origins when it's far superior. Even more so with the R rated version.

I would put it above a lot of MCU movies and most of the DCCU movies so far as well. The finale of The does bring it down, but the rest is damn good.

I didn't think the theatrical version of the Wolverine was all that great. Some awkward editing to save time, the ninja fight being removed, etc. The R-rated version improved on a lot of things though, but then again not everybody has seen the R-rated version.

The bit during the ninja-fight with the DeathTractor or whatever the hell it was in the extended cut nearly ruined it for me.

But I still think it's one of the better films in the franchise.

I would say the soundtrack to TW is better than Logan. Did anyone recognize the music when Logan started out with the deadpool preview? I had a brief second of thinking that deadpool was going to be in the movie.

I liked the theatrical version a lot. But the r rated version is the better version.

Yeah R rated version of TW actually adds a lot of worthwhile stuff that makes it a better film, the longer ninja fight just removes a lot of weird editing in the theatrical cut for starters and the slightly longer Shingen fight with a bit more brutality adds more as well.

I will need to see Logan a few more times but I think Logan will be regarded higher for the performances alone but its a nice double Mangold has produced.

Yeah Logan is the better movie TW is just under appreciated. I am hoping the success of Logan means people will upset it in a new light for the good movie it is.

The rated R version of The Wolverine is still inflicted with that awful tonal shift, breaking down the immersion and investment from the rest of the film. I am afraid The Wolverine will never overcome that flaw.

That's true. The big plot twist at the end of the movie is really dumb and makes things way too convoluted, and Viper and Robo Silver Samurai suck.

Having said that, I was just on Reddit, and it's shocking at how many people like Origins and hate The Wolverine. So bizarre to me.

The best part of that scene was this part imo...Wolverine lookin badass:

I don't dislike Origins as much as many, but TW literally wipes the floor with it.

I loved the whole re-added ninja scene. Wolverine looks awesome in the snow for some reason.

Yea that scene was visually stunning. idk if its just me but they had Logan doing all kinds of subtle badass s**t like the cigar bit on top of the tractor. Where he starts smoking the cigar, pops his claws out and kinda shows the ninjas before using his claws to blow up the tractor. That stuff totally reminded me of the comics.

thing to remember there are people who actully like both last stand and origins.

I liked the wolverine and didn't mind third act though i can see point why some
didn't.The extended version of the wolverine is better version.

I have habit of having different take on films

I prefer superman returns over DCEU

SPectre is only one of rebooted bond films that makes my top 10 list of james bond films

My favorate spider-man film is amazing Spider-man

I liked apocalypse more than first class

I liked return of the jedi and revenge of the sith better than the Force Awakens.

Thankfully my oporion than logan is with X2 and DOFP as best of X related films isn't a unpopular one.

I'm actually one of those people lol. I liked Iron Man 2 better simply because we got more Iron Man. But I definitely don't like Origins more than The Wolverine.

Iron Man was in most of the film. Tony Stark is Iron Man.The suit that Iron Man wears wasn't. That was the point of Iron Man 3. The man made the suit.

Yeah it was the stuff Origins was trying to do by make Wolverine look cool, but The Wolverine pulled it off, Origins didn't.

Just want to specify I don't like Origins, but I like aspects, and more if than in TLS. Both are poor movies overall though.

both origins and last stand are poor films.i find origins a bit more watchable.it's like with last stand is viewed more favorable than origins because it's viewed by many as more mixed films since they threw a lot of things from comics to the wall.Kelsey Grammer and ellen page excellint casting in last stand while in origins we had fine sabretooth.a joke is X_men 1 has sabretooth who looked like character but origins had sabretooth with personality from comics.Jackman never phones in a wolverine performance.the prologue from origins was nice as was the war montage.

The wolverine is different better than both films but there may be some who prefer last stand or origins to it.

James mangold did his take on both japanese saga and old man logan/death of wolverine.and did fine job on both.

The Wolverine is technically a better film but the story just isn't as interesting as the origin. Those of us that read comics know of the iconic Japan storyline but to others it can seem like the film makers ran out of ideas and it's "Wolverine in Japan".

TW is far superior to Origins for me, to each their own, but its a shame Mangold couldnt have made that film too in hindsight then we could have had a great trilogy of Wolverines "Birth"(Origins), "Love/Life" (TW) and "Death" (Logan). It is what it is at the end of the day but I wish Origins was closer than the other two films as Hugh deserved a better origins film.

I just don't think they did much with Japan. It felt like they were going through the motions without any clear ideas. The story they did with the grandfather could've taken place anywhere, only window dressing tied it to Japan.

Did Wolverine really learn anything in the end? What got him over his depression? He even got Jean back at the end of DoFP only for him to become an even worse version of a loner in Logan.
