Yeah, I'm the same way. I want both brands to do well. It shouldn't be viewed as a competition, because if movies (on either side) start tanking at the box office, it's bad for the genre as a whole.

Absolutely, and there are a lot of people just waiting for the superhero movie bubble to burst.

Besides, its only really a direct competition if two films come out at the exact same time. Otherwise, people can go see both films so they aren't really "competing" as the audience isn't forced to choose between one or the other. Competition implies a false dichotomy.

Yes. THOSE people are the real enemy.

To them I say, if we can adapt every young adult novel out there into a movie, every old TV show, every fairy tale and every random vampire story, there is plenty of room for superheroes at the box office for years to come.

Agreed it serves now purpose to "pick one" over the other. There's ones I like on both sides why anyone would want to limit themselves is just strange to me and only deserving themselves.

Yep. That's why I don't know why some people are acting like MOS absolutely HAS to beat TASM's total box office. Who cares if it does or it doesn't? Both movies were successful; that's all that really matters.

I want MoS to do well even though I am a Marvel and Spidey guy because I want see sequels and I want those sequels to have a decent budget.
MoS has problems but nothing that can't be fixed, I thought BB had problems too and look how the sequel turned out.

Bragging rights.

Have both weeks been acounted for on the BO numbers?

On the BoM's current ww. cume, yes. On the details of their foreign section, no.
My best guess is that as far as cume goes, France should add another 8/9 millions or so.

Those films are sequels. So its not a surprise to me.

Indeed even though TASM is a reboot just like MoS, which benefited from a larger number of theaters equiped with IMax and 3D and a higher ticket price.

I'm a Marvel guy but I've seen every DC movie (with the exception of Jonah Hex) I even saw Green Lantern AFTER all the negative reviews came in.
Superhero movies do well Marvel AND DC and we'll see more superhero movies.
Batman and Robin killed all superhero movies not just DC and Blade breathed new life into all superheroes not just Marvel.

Man Of Steel defeated Batman Begins, Iron Man and both Spiderman reboots at the box office. MOS2 is on the way to clean up the rest.

Did I actually missed a Spider-Man reboot in theaters ? :oldrazz:
Seriously though, I was just giving an hindsight on the movie's performance at the french BO (in wich he will have to get a lot of legs to even beat Iron Man, just like in the US, while The Amazing Spider-Man is already out of its reach) so really no need to be defensive.

hopefully Henry's Superman in MOS 2 will have more of Reeve's "charm."

that is one thing I did like about the old Superman films.

Did you see Lois? I think she thought he had plenty of charm. :D

bah.....Lois was just transfixed by Superman's manly chest hair sticking out of his costume........:o

Well tell that to the Evil Empire,Disney suits probably talk to someone in Marvel to raise the bar a little higher, besides a healthy competition in the comics business should be good also on the big screen.I'm willing to bet that in Avengers2 when the Hulk punches Thanos when he's really angry we'll see mountains crumble

yeah, and still people will complain about its 9/11 imagery :whatever:

Or complain there's too much building damage and millions die. What do people expect when super beings with super powers go at it... We'll see how The Avengers handle this in the movie. I hope there's kickA$$ action scene like MOS... Thanos better do what Zod did in MOS... World damage... (I won't be surprise if it's not as this is Disney).
