The PG-13 film continues to set records worldwide in IMAX theatres, where it has earned an estimated $27M domestically and $18.9M internationally for a worldwide total of $45.9 million. “This success for Man of Steel is a great 75th birthday present for this iconic character. The film took Superman back to his roots for a new generation of moviegoers, who have once again embraced Krypton and Kansas’ favorite son,” Fellman said in the official statement. “The film’s strong CinemaScore tells us that word of mouth should keep the Man Of Steel flying through the summer.” The studio thanked director Zach Snyder profusely but didn’t mention Christopher Nolan, who mentored and produced and co-wrote the story as well as handpicked Snyder, or screenwriter David S Goyer. Both Snyder and Goyer are prepping the sequel

Yeah, even though Star Wars is clearly better. :cwink:

Nothing makes it more apparent then the Marvel vs. DC thing. For some it seems impossible to enjoy both IM3 and MoS just because of their origins. It is hilarious. For me, I get to enjoy both. :funny:

Obviously. :jedi

Same here! I'll never understand why it's so difficult for some to enjoy both. It's more fun to have more movies to look forward too.

It's still playing by me, but I got too many other movies to see. Can't wait for the blu-ray.

It really has been great so far. Only movie I didn't like was World War Z, but I had some good laughs out of it.

Taking the nephew to Despicable Me 2 on Thursday. Can't wait.
I watch my Star Trek '09 blu-ray every few months. Have a feeling it is going to be the same with Into Darkness.

I know what you mean, there are almost being too many movies. Just a lot of releases on top of each other, but I has been pretty great because I have enjoyed everything I have seen so far (haven't seen WWZ).

This week I am going to catch The Lone Ranger on Wednesday, and I am taking my niece to Despicable Me 2 on Friday. So much goodness.

I actually drove out to the *real* IMAX to see Star Trek again (closest to me is the mini-IMAX, but it works). Which was awesome.

Of course, when I tried to do the same thing to see Man of Steel again this week...

:argh:

That sucks. Well anyways, I'm having trouble as to which one I like better and which one is better. STID definitely has more of a fun factor.

I've enjoyed MOS the most by far.......

but that could be because I'm a Superman fan........lol

Star Trek '09 was on FX the other night. And abruptly ended any productivity I had planned for the rest of the evening...

I still have to see Monsters University and The Heat. Wouldn't mind catching White House Down either, looks like it could be fun.

Checking out Lone Ranger this weekend with my dad. If he has the stamina, I'm going to see if he wants to do a double-feature with MOS.

speaking of the priest, was the church in Smallville or was it in Metropolis??

I am seeing Lone Ranger with my dad, too.

and after that Pacific Rim.

Then, Wolverine.....

Then......then.........

........I guess we hit kind of a dry spell until later in the year.......

Exactly. I always have a film to look forward too in the not so distant future. Makes life much more pleasant.

It's Father Daniel Leone (played by Coburn Goss).
Thanks,I wish it was Norman Mckay this woud explain why this version of Superman,Kingdom Come Superman is shown to be much more powerful than New Earth Superman. He shows he had little or no problem threatening the life of his opponents, an option the present Superman would never consider as he follows a strict code of ethics that abhors the use of deadly force.

FX has been showing Star Trek '09 a lot these days. Can't even count how many times I have been channel surfing and just end up watching more then half the film. :funny:

Thor 2, Hunger Games and The Hobbit.

I got a Red Robin gift card for my birthday, and it comes with a Fandango code to get Wolverine tickets. :wolverine

That kinda defeats the point. Can't all of the movies be good on their own merits?

I've always been a Star Wars/Star Trek fan. But I don't need one to be better than the other.

Of course, and they are all good in their own way, merits. Maybe it's just me being selfish because Supes is my favorite, but the heart of what I'm saying is I want the property done justice. I want to see that same incredible level of writing and acting and directing as I've seen in other properties seen in this rendition of Superman.

Wow i'll rate it up there as a very memorable movie summer for you and I will go to Red Robin b4 Lone Ranger:word:

The risk of Darkseid in a JLA movie is to come after Thanos in The Avengers 2.
The main rule to make a successful JLA movie is to give a great role to Batman in the plot. I don't see Batman fighting parademons a good idea.

One of the main reasons why I wouldn't do Darkseid with JLA.

Honestly some form of the LOD would be the best villain for the JLA film. An alien villain attacking the Earth and the JLA teaming up to thwart said villain would just be too much like Avengers.

sweet!!

and Happy Birthday!!

Yes and no.

The fact that a record OW crowd turned out, despite generally negative reviews, tells me the audience is ready for a great Superman film. MOS was not great. If it had been the BO would have been a lot higher.

So the potential is there for an 800 million plus Superman film.

The question is will WB make the needed changes/corrections/fixes to allow that to happen.

The 2014 release date was always bogus. Think - no way practically that could be done.

2016 seems likely and that is time enough.

And yes, it could all come down to MOS2. Does it fly or underperform MOS? The Tomb Raider syndrome.

Which is why some of us are critical of Goyer and Snyder and WB (release date) re: MOS.

MOS2 has to be cooking with gas or there will be no MOS3 and perhaps no Flash or WW or JL.

There is more riding on MOS2 than there was on MOS.

That is terrible logic

Already been said that Thanos is not in Avengers 2

After this week, still have Pacific Rim, Elysium and the Wolverine. :awesome:

White House Down was actually stupid. Completely stupid. And that's why it was fun. :) Oh and happy birthday Danoyse! :D
