Or maybe it will be both, 275-300 Domestic 450-500 international? Anything over 700 and hello MOS 2 and future WF/JLA

This Is the End is really killing it on RT for a raunchy comedy. That movie is going to take it's toll on MOS...

and yet didn't receive the coveted A cinemascore or A- for that matter. B+ is solid though and should do 20 ish million over the weekend.

What??!! Is RT blocked from the internet in the Phillipines? How could this happen??! Don't they have the same taste as Rex Reed and like to savor "The English Patient" while having some brie and mineral water?

LMAO good one.

That's ******** it may take some away from MOS but not that much.

Stoked that today is the actual day I get to see this movie. I just want something good enough to set up a sequel, is that aiming too high?

I am expecting strong debuts in the UK, India, and Australia for MOS.

hope you enjoy it.

How? People are saying this movie is hilarious. It has huge actors in it, and it's the whole apocalyptic movie theme that people love.

Big actors
Great humor (from what I'm hearing/reading)
Apocalypse
Good reviews

Why is this not a threat again?

It's amazing that I didn't hear anyone really gushing over Thor or Cap or TIH in the same way I've heard near everyone gush over MOS(with a few people saying it fell short of their expectations.

I say that in light of the idea that the critics are scoring it under those.

That being said, curious what kinda money it will make relative to the Marvel line up seeing as every single one of those has scored higher.

Nope, not too high, Based on my likes and those critics/bloggers I usually agree with I believe I will like it. This is what I want as well. Do enough to get sequels and push forward Justice League. If Superman can do 300+ domestic and then we have Batman, which the public loves, then JLA could do more at the box-office than Avengers.

If JLA has the proper build up, then sure. If they try to rush into it and just get the movie out there, it'll never beat The Avengers. I don't think we'll see a JL movie until 2017 or 2018, IMO.

Cuz it is NO threat at all. It has its built in audience and people who don't like that type of movie (which are TONS) then they will not see it regardless, heck I believe if this is the end had a 97% RT score it still would do in the high 20's over the weekend. 70 millinon or so lower than Man of Steel.

Superman will be big in India too...Trust me, Indians love Batman and Superman the most

When I say threat I'm not saying it's going to steal the #1 spot for the OW BO. But it's going to take a lot of money out of what MOS could potentially make. If it makes 20M OW, that's 20M out of MOS's pocket. Who's to say it won't make more than 20M though?

But Indians have Bollywood and their own steady fare of local grown cultural diversions. Same with the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Thais, Malays, and so on.

Unlike the Philippines which seem almost too readily digesting any American culture pop from Michael Jackson to US comics heroes.

Like I said my friend...Indians will join us in the sun. Case in point, see below.

Pineapple express did 36% higher on Wed bow than This is the end. Expect the 5 day total to be 34.3 million. That is 7.8 on Wed (plus 7PM Thursday shows) 4.5 I am guessing today. 9 on Friday, 7.5 on Saturday, and 5.5 on Sunday. That, in no way, takes away from Man of Steel imho.

MOS just went rotten. This could be bad. We haven't had a rotten CBM since GL?

The "my friend said it was the best movie he ever saw" scenario doesn't mean anything other than you've heard people you know gush about the movie.

I had a minor in statistics so when I hear people relate personal anecdotal stories that they've heard and try to expound upon that, it doesn't mean anything on a macro scale.

Thor and Cap were modest successes, they weren't blockbusters by any means, but for characters that didn't have universal appeal the way Superman does, it was a positive situation for them. Especially for Cap being in a very bad release position between the final Harry Potter movie and Cowboys and Aliens.

I've no doubt that this movie is going to do well this weekend, perhaps very well, and that mainly has to do with the great job WB has done in promoting the film (something they did a terrible job with Batman Begins).

I've heard people on this site gush about the film but they are Superman fans. I think that if you're a comic book fan or a Superman film, you will probably like this film, and it may even be your favorite CB movie, but with the reviews I've heard, I don't know how this will play with the general audience. We just don't know yet.

I'm not overly concerned about the Opening Weekend, it's the following weekend that we should keep our eye on. IF the bad reviews are a prelude to bad word of mouth from the GA, this movie could plummet like a bag of bricks.

yeah I don't see it coming back, the forbes review and Richard Roeper's reviews still aren't up. To give people an example it was late, but Spider-man 3 was finally certified fresh by this point in time. Now that's a movie where the audience thought it was worse than the critics did, and this movie could well be the opposite, but just to give a point of reference. It's certainly not going to be certified fresh by release day which is bad.

Huh!

The most famous in India are Spider-man,Iron man and Batman

I forgot about Spider-man India...It was big because of the films.

Wait, I grew up in India as a kid and SUPERMAN was iconic...We used to watch the old Superman movies dubbed.

Spidey only popular because of Sam Raimi's movies came out...Iron Man I guess the same...But most people in rural places know who Superman is, he's inspired alot of comics stories there.

And like Cavill said in a interview to IBN

Henry Cavill, the new on-screen 'Superman', says 'hope and goodness' are common between his superhero character and gods in Hindu mythology.

"India has a rich mythology and they're both (Superman and Hindu mythology) rooted in the same thing - hope and goodness," Cavill said at a recent promotional event.

Judging from all the positive feedback we got a couple weeks ago I think we were all expecting this movie to be in the high 70's to low 80's. This is terrible...

You're right but as far as box office is concerned, the three superheroes which bring butts to seat in India are Spider-man,Iron man and Batman. In that order
