The GA will turn out! That's the bottom line...

:huh:
You didn't understand what I said. I don't want to see you in underwear is a direct statement saying you're going to be wrong on your 1B prediction.

Joe is a certified chicken!

Man, if this misses 100 by even a little, this place will explode!!!

Your nerd tears sustain me!!!:woot:

C'mon Joe. It's very difficult to reach 750M. The marketing is terrible oversea. I only hear WWZ buzz these few weeks. Nobody knows MOS. It will do bad OS.
Take the challenge. Take the bet!!!

Eh, I still maintain that Man of Steel is doing great if it cracks 300mil overseas but I honestly wouldn't be surprised with a Hunger Games style 285mil gross. With some films the brand has to be build up overseas (Catching Fire is going to explode overseas). Sorry but I never took the billion talk seriously. I could see 700mil but a billion? Nah, not for a reboot.

we'll soon know. A big OW weekend will tell the tale. Same if it's below expectations.

I've held off on an OW prediction this whole time so far but i'm gonna say $95m. WOM is going to be crucial for this film.

"MAN OF STEEL" LOOKING SUPER AS THE #1 MOVIE OF THE WEEKEND, ACCORDING TO FANDANGO'S FANTICIPATION MOVIE BUZZ INDICATOR

LOS ANGELES, June 11, 2013 -- /PRNewswire/ -- According to Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoing destination, advance ticket sales and positive fan word-of-mouth for "Man of Steel" are out of this world. The highly-anticipated film, opening this Friday, scored a rare 98 out of 100 points on the company's Fanticipation buzz indicator, and ranks as today's top ticket-seller on Fandango -- representing more than 60% of today's sales. "Man of Steel" soars high above the rest of the competition, including Seth Rogen's raunchy apocalyptic comedy, "This is the End," (score of 77), "Fast & Furious 6" (score of 68), "The Purge" (score of 67), and "The Internship" (score of 65).

Fandango's Fanticipation measures fan sentiment around the weekend box office line-up, with numerical scores that are calculated based on a proprietary analysis of Fandango's advance ticket sales, website and mobile traffic, and social media engagement.

Fandango surveyed more than 1,000 "Man of Steel" ticket-buyers, and uncovered the following results:

88% are fans of Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" franchise;
83% said the supporting cast of award-winning and nominated stars (Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Shannon) increased their interest in seeing the movie;
81% claimed the darker interpretation of Superman made them more interested in buying a ticket;
75% cannot wait to see Michael Shannon's performance as the villain General Zod;
72% are fans of director Zack Snyder's previous films ("300," "Watchmen");
69% want to see "Man of Steel" because the lead is played by Henry Cavill and not by an established box office superstar.

To help moviegoers with their weekend selections, Chief Correspondent Dave Karger breaks down the new releases on this week's episode of Fandango's "Weekend Ticket" video series, featuring an interview with "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill, who reveals his superhero suit presented some unique challenges. This is a real interesting article.

Well like i have said in other thread, if MOS has reached the level: if u haven't watched MOS , u r not cool. U r so out. it's a cool thing to do to watch MOS. Then it will has high chance to make billions...

This is a real interesting article.

interesting indeed.
Especially when one compares it to the likes of Cap or Thor(respectively big films in their own right).

How many of these sorts of things do they have going for them?

I'm thinking "coming off of avengers" being their one big one.(not flame waring just comparing). Don't see how MoS doesn't have huge numbers this weekend.

I don't know if this says anything, but even my Mom is looking forward to seeing MOS. She has never had any interest in seeing any of the new superhero movies except for TDK and TDKR (although not as much as TDK and MOS). She also had no interested in seeing SR when it came out. So, in terms of marketing WB has certainly also got at least part of the market that typically isn't excited for these kinds of films. It's definitely drawing something outside of the classic comic and summer blockbuster crowd. It might be bias though and have something to do with it diving into the origins (my sister and I are adopted so the topic is huge in our family), but I don't think that's it...

I still think it will do moderate. Especially OS.

I guess it's about time for my final OW predition:

Domestic Opening Weekend: $105m
Domestic Total: $330m
Overseas Total: $390m

Worldwide Total: $720m

I think its opening weekend is going to be pretty titanic, not sure what kind of legs our Man of Steel is going to have though.

I was very optimistic for a long time but with last numbers...

OW: 80-85
DOM: 230-250
OS: 280-350

I think WB will be happy once MoS will cross 500M WW but if Superman can't beat 5 years old Iron Man 1 (less-known character without 3D and expanding OS markets but with much lower budget)... I'll be dissapointed.

i guess you are already disappointed yourself. your estimation is lower than what ironman 1 did!!!

i guess you dislike the movie after watching. :(

This will make at least 800 million. Quote me on that. Very crowd pleasing. 8/10 for me.

8/10 fr a super fan isnt good enough!!!

must 10/10!!!

Final prediction.

Opening weekend domestic: 129 million
International final gross: 500 million
Domestic final gross: 317 million.

Total gross: 817 million worldwide.

After seeing the film, these are my final predictions:

Opening Weekend: $130 Million
International Gross: $448 Million
Domestic Total: $328 Million
Total Gross: $778 Million

The latest tracking (MTC) has this at $87M OW. WB's internal range is $80-$90M OW, but studios are notorious for fudging estimates for their own films. Personally, I think it will do about $90M, but would not be surprised to see it lower than that.

Word of mouth is going to be critical. A $90M OW translates to a $285M domestic run with the same 3X multiplier that The Avengers and TDKR enjoyed. This film is not likely to get that sort of multiplier, however, because it faces stiffer competition. WB probably can't leave MOS in theaters for as long as it did TDK, TDKR and The Hobbit. If it starts out that low $300M may be out of reach.
