The negative reviews are not going to derail the GA. Over 200 million is sound. Summer, no major competition, etc........Let the PEOPLE decide!

So this HAS to make over 100M this weekend to be considered successful?

I remember that, but it was in part because Disney had an embargo in place until Wednesday afternoon. You could tell it was going up, because on Thursday the ratio of good to bad reviews was up like 5:1, when it was still in the 40% range.

It still has a chance to become fresh, but 70% is gone, 65% is likely gone, it will be in the low 60's or high 50's.

It is now at 57. I had not seen it go that low before.

WW or Domestic? Hehe

Let them project whatever they want. They are 50% off.
This is SUPERMAN we are talking about, NOT Iron Man....:)!

And Iron Man had RDJ. Cavill couldn't carry his suitcase...armor. Cavill never did anything for me. after Immortals I'm surprised he landed this role. Iron Man's success was largely due to the charisma of RDJ. One of a kind.

RDJ's resurgence is not to be ignored. The Iron Man comment was sarcasm.

Yes... it needs to get over that $100 million mark.

I think next weekend will be the test for this movie. If it doesn't do well against Monsters U and WWZ, that's the nail in the coffin. It can't afford to come in third place.

True... I have a feeling this won't have typical ''Nolan legs''.

Anyone know the current predictions for WWZ open?

I'm figuring MU will be at least 67M because the last two Pixar films which had tepid response got that much.

Guys. Easy up. This is the best superman movie!!!

It is only zack is too concentrate on the core story n forget to do some ' hero self promoting scenes' like in STM, IM n Avengers.

The studio and the fan community are going to lay all the blame on Snyder and/or Goyer if things don't go according to plan.

Isn't that only fair?

The writer/director usually get the brunt of it all. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'm trying to reserve judgement, but I suddenly feel very nervous about the Snyder/Goyer combo.

This negative talk is silly, but that is just my humble opinion. You naysayers have the right to spill GLOOM and DOOM for a movie that IS'NT EVEN OFFICIALLY OUT YET!!!

I'm not buying what you are selling, especially THIS early...ROFL!!!

Are you old enough that you were around when STM came out? I only ask that, because that movie was the freaking gold standard for Superman and all subsequent superhero movies.

Because when you say this is better than that movie (and I'm not talking better special effects or more modern haircuts), that's saying a lot in my book.

Yes that movie is campy, it's somewhat dated, but it's also timeless, and Reeves was freaking Superman.

Probably, but I find it funny that everyone was talking about how Nolan was going to carry this film, and now that it's taking some heat, it seems like he's being shielded.

I realize that a producers job is very different from a writer or director, but it just seemed strange to me none the less.

Boxoffice.com has MU at 75 mil and WWZ at 40 mil.

I am a 100 % donner n reeve superman fan. N I was one of the haters of MOS during the filming. Read my signature.

Why not blame their bosses? They were the ones who hired them in the first place...

Aside from this, these $200+ Mil OW predictions are outrageous. I have said from the start $130-$150 Mil OW and even that is too high. according to experts and some around here. I think the fact that this is really being pushed for 3D in theaters, it will show this weekend when we get an unofficial BO OW estimate.

But no way this breaks TA OW or let alone IM3. I'd be absolutely stunned if MoS even got $5-$10 million close to IM3's OW. Realistically, it isn't going to happen.

Wow. One week ago I would never have never imagined the discussions concerning MOS would be of this nature.
What happened ?
I wonder what Snyder is thinking about this. I'm sure he is not oblivious to the reviews and how they seem to be shaping.

Cool, just checking. A lot of people rip that film because it is a little cheesy and dated, but you have to view that film for the time it was made.

It's sort of like I had to explain to my son why Wrath of Khan was a better movie than Star Trek Into Darkness, because he just looks at Wrath of Khan and see's 1980's low budget special effects.
