Man of Steel Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 4

You're right, this Superman didnt think twice about it, look:

ryNzaNf.gif

The face of a stone cold killer.

Never said he was a murderer. I even said that Zod likely deserved to die and Superman would have likely been forced to kill him. I just don't think it was handled right with the right type of threat. Hell, Zod's heat vision was so close to those people that their skin likely boiled off just by being next to it. Yes, he screamed then hugged Lois...but was that out of sorrow for killing or sadness that his race was gone or what exactly? Like every other emotional scene, they cut it short before the emotion could be explored.

But I'm done talking about this in a box office thread. Please refrain from misrepresenting my stance and posting mocking gifs towards me. I get it...you loved the scene...I didn't.

For this movie to come in around $125-135 for the 3 day weekend is great. And that's without the Wal-Mart number.
I thought Deadline said said it was 122 for 3 days and 134 for the four days wouldnt that include the Walmart numbers ?

You guys keep saying you're done, but then keep talking about it.

What

Anything above 100 million for the weekend is great but the fact that numbers have been adjusted up is even better. The trending on twitter is quite positive. About 8 out of 10 people really like the flim.

Uh.....yeah, I'd like to change my predictions to $133 million OW.

That would be noooice. I've stuck by my prediction for months for OW (see my sig, $135 mil OW) and people said it was impossible and I've stood my ground. Hoping it becomes reality!

I said I was done once, mod, in the post you quoted. I am only continuing now because you are a moderator and seem to believe that I repeatedly said I would stop.

But if moderators want to continue the discussion here, then I am not opposed to it.

The force is strong with you.

I'm basing off my own projections, didn't even look at the Deadline numbers.

He's not huge in terms of making money (although I think his best are far better than Will Smith's) but we must live in very different places if you say he's not a famous actor. I can hardly imagine anyone not knowing who Brad Pitt is.

I said, 'not caring'.. not the same as 'not knowing'.. :yay:

Apparently tracking had taken a nose dive earlier in the week because of the low RT rating, even though the numbers were pretty optimistic beforehand from audience anticipation.

So suck it, RT. :awesome:

where did you hear that?

Deadline's number seem to be basing this off of GL. On one hand the WOM on this is far better than GL but since its opening is much bigger that could balance it out.

From the BoxOffice forums. Lots of cursing in there so I can't link the post directly, but here's what it was:

Okay, can anyone explain how this transpired. Never in a million years did a near 50M OD ever enter the conversation here. Just 3 days ago it seemed like everything was going against the movie:

- Tracking had revised drastically downward (from 125 to 90, and 130 to 87)

- Reviews came in really mixed

- "Superman Returns" being in people's memories itself should have hurt the opening day number

- It is Superman, everyone's least favorite hero (at least based on normal sentiment of Batman is better)

- Zack Snyder

- Another origin story of Superman, doesn't everyone already know it

And here we are, whatever it does the rest of the weekend, this will be an unbelievable start.
So this is great news. :awesome:

I guess tracking agencies decided to err on the side of caution.

Like I said earlier, glad to have you back Superman. We all missed you. :D

Yeah they drastically overestimated After Earth and...something else earlier this year. :funny:

No the 80-90 million number was always there. Studios like to lowball their prediction so to inflate the news once the real (higher) numbers come out. However the 100 million+ number now is definitely good news for the WB.

I find this entire tracking situation and critical representation so silly and entertaining. Both elements heavily affecting the way we went in for a film we've been waiting a good long time for.

meh
I just hope my numbers are vindicated by sunday. It would make up for all the rants I've had to endure this past week.
