Man of Steel Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 4

No the 80-90 million number was always there. Studios like to lowball their prediction so to inflate the news once the real (higher) numbers come out. However the 100 million+ number now is definitely good news for the WB.
Tracking companies like MTC and ERC are completely separate from studio predictions. Studios always underestimate for the reasons you stated. Box office folks consider it the absolute worst case scenario. :funny: The tracking companies are supposed to be actually accurate. :oldrazz:

When do the official Friday #s come out? Guessing later tonight?
We won't get actual actuals and breakdowns until Monday, but a good estimate should come tomorrow morning. Most discussions occur over the weekend estimates on Sunday, though....actuals normally don't fluctuate $5 million in either direction.

Nice to hear that Man of Steel is doing well at the box office. This may mean sequels, team-ups with other DCU characters, and Justice League.

with the early numbers we have a new franchise for wb!im lookin at 300mill domestic

Man Of Steel $MORE
Spider-man $114.8mill
Iron Man $98.6mill
Thor $65.7mill
The Amazing Spider-man $62mill
Batman Begins $48.7mill

Official Cinemascore is A-. Not bad. :yay: Means WOM will be pretty good.

Well Inception got a B+ Cinemascore and still achieved a 5+ multiplier so...it doesn't really mean anything in the end. Well, as long as it isn't lower than a C. Then you know you're in trouble! :funny:

Yeah, Inception getting a B+ always confused me. A B+ meant it probably wouldn't get much WOM, yet it ended up being the most talked about film that year. People to this day are talking about it.

I don't trust cinema score all that much but I'm glad it got an A-. Hopefully that means something. 98% of my audience applauded at the end.

Yeah I think Cinemascore doesn't mean much unless it's crazy-good or crazy bad. :funny:

Well, This is the End which has much better reviews only got a B+ as the CinemaScore. So at least MoS has the better CS among wide releases this week.

Where did you guys get the cinema score from? I don't see it in the Deadline article.

Mostly Perry fans saw Alex Cross though but I get what you are saying and I agree. Cinema Score is unreliable unless a movie gets a C or lower.

The first spider-man's $115 million debut should not be taken lightly. I don't know what that is inflation wise now? but i know it's a huge figure and for a debut origin film to gross that much is still in insane (of course in the pre-3D days as well).

YEAH! A- Cinemascore. Now we join the ranks of great movies like GI Joe Retaliation! :oldrazz:

Seriously though, that's really nice to see, even if I don't really read much into them.

The best sign for good or great WOM is cheering at the end of the movie.

(Excluding midnight shows, since fanboys are pretty forgiving.)

Just about every movie where people cheer at the ending gets a 3x multiplier.
