world war z is starting to look like the sleeper hit of the summer..................and maybe monsters university.

It was foolish for people to underestimate brad after money ball

Man of steel will be going against 2 potential 100 million dollar openings.

Brad Pitt: Career best opening weekend - 50m, Mr and Mrs. Smith. Moneyball: 19.5M opening weekend, 75M total. World War Z projected opening 40-50M. Please continue. I believe you were saying something funny. 2 potential 100M openings. Really? If you believe that, I've got a POTENTIAL winning lottery ticket I'll sell you for only $500.

:whatever:

MU and WWZ ain't opening with 100mil. Is Chadwick Boesman a bigger star than Pitt because 42 made more than Pitt's overhyped Baseball movie.

42 was based/about on one of the most influential African Americans/athletes that have ever lived .

World war z may ended being the highest grossing zombie of all time...

It may do good, but I havent heard much buzz about it. both my viewings of MoS were kinda quite when wwz's trailer played..they like the hobbit:TDOS trailer tho.
I'm not saying WWZ will or wont make bank tho. I have no idea. If I was forced to guess, 60 mill opening maybe?

I may be wrong about wwz opening to 90-100, but the movie is being low balled the same way the hunger games was last year.

no, but I dont watch it tho.

Brad pitt is a bigger box office draw than will smith.............Will smith value is higher because hand picks his hits.

If the walking dead and warm bodies are any indication, maybe we're in the middle of a zombie craze/fad.

Since when is Brad Pitt considered more of a box office draw than Smith? And is there anything at all to back up that claim?

I'd stake my life on it being lucky to get as much as 'I Am Legend.'

Hunger Games has the state of the political climate, very little competition, and teenage romance in the time of 'Twilight' ALL going for it. You can not say the same about WWZ. Horror movies have never made HUGE numbers and the last film like this that did good was 'I Am Legend' which had Will Smith to boot. It's not making any higher than that film. And... off of the web I have yet to hear that much interest in it, others experiences may be different - but I'm not hearing enough for it to be the hit you want.

WWZ ain't no ****ing Hunger Games. Monsters University will be number 1 next weekend, with CGI Zombies coming in second or 3rd place.

The Hunger Games isn't a romance film.

Does that have anything to do with it opening to 90-100 million?

"I think $120 million to $150 million here [OVERALL!] is a very possible goal for "World War Z," says Contrino. "It's a kind of movie that people really respond to. I think people are missing the comparison to 'I Am Legend,' another zombie movie that was extremely successful."

Right now, BoxOffice.com is tracking the film to earn $40 million opening weekend and $105 million domestically.

"If this movie doesn't hit $100 million domestic, then it's in a lot of trouble. It needs to at least do that," says Contrino. "It would be a bad sign for overseas [earnings] as well. $100 million would be a definite disappointment for something like this."

Even industry analysts are comparing it to 'I Am Legend.' I think it will do around the same, but definitely not more since Smith is the bigger draw - at least in the states. And that opened with 77 mil.

As said -- PROVE THAT BRAD PITT IS MORE OF A BOX OFFICE DRAW THAN WILL SMITH.

Especially when 'I Am Legend' came out, Smith was thought to be box office gold.

If not, you are surely looking at less than 'I Am Legend' which is the only similar film.

You are aware that if i am legend was a 3d movie it would have opened to 90+ million?

the boost of 3d will help wwz surpass that number

Just exactly how is world war z "starting to look like the sleeper hit of the summer"?
you're joking right?????? world war z is doa
world war z will open to 45 mil domestic at most....it was not very smart to place it against MOS's second week.

I will sell my soul to the devil if WWZ makes 90-100mil opening weekend despite not having 1/3 of the buzz MOS does.

If i am not mistaken, this i not your typical Zombie Movie.. this is Zombies like transformers... it's probably more in tune with the 'blockbuster epic action movie' rather than just a typical zombie movie..

Also, it seems the critics loved it (as compared to MOS), and audience' 'want to see' on RT is actually higher than MOS (99%) and in total numbers as well..

So, will it make more than MOS, prob not.. but will it be a huge hit? I am pretty sure it will...

Also, opening same day is MU, which is also getting really good reviews... so, if you take most kids out of the equation, and you take a large portion of the GA that will watch WWZ, MOS is basically doomed for the 2nd week out...

AND on top of that, This is the End looks to be a surprise hit as well, so that's going to start chopping at MOS's legs this weekend itself...

Okay, then 90...

Still, PROVE that Brad Pitt is thought to be more of a box office draw than Will Smith.

You're saying 90 - 100 (MORE than 'I Am Legend'), so now I see the ceiling (if you are right) less than 90 mill rather than 78 mill but now more because no where have I ever heard of Brad Pitt being more of a box office draw than Will Smith.
